Ok, I almost just got in trouble over the rather X-appealing ads that tend to display themselves on the forum's mainpage. My dad walked in right as I came here and saw one of the ads right as it loaded and gave me a fifteen-minute scolding on how pornography is bad for you and all that crap. Luckily I got out of it...somehow. Next time I might not be so lucky, so I'm gonna request that the frequency of these ads is reduced--if only so I don't get in any more trouble with school people or parents (they are like vultures, peering over my shoulder and waiting for me to make one mistake before BAM! they eat me to death).

Are you kidding me? Those ads are hardly suggestive when you compare it to the crap you see on other sites.

They show more skin than that on any tv channel. Maybe you need to tell your dad to chill.

Edit: and you're 17!? Damn your dad really needs to lay off a little, you probably see more skin than that in school too.

You do have to honor his request...we do have youngins on this forum, ya know...*cough blackbird cough cough* :dopey:

I never noticed those ads because I'm always logged in and a premium member, but in order to check the internet connection on a friend's computer recently, I asked him to call up a webpage he hadn't visited before (as the browser would have called up a cached version of a page he had visited), so I told him to type gtplanet.net, and lo and behold, one such full screen ad popped up... I must admit, I was quite surprised, and amused... I'd agree and say they're not that bad! :)

incidentally, it reminds me of a time my dad was looking for a new job... my sister wrote the name of a recruitment website, www.s1jobs.co.uk (jobs in Scotland) for him... unfortunately, he misread it, and was redirected to a site that welcomed you with a picture of a naked man and woman on the back of a horse... Now THAT was a surprise... I felt really sorry for my dad though... he must have thought that my sister was suggesting a change in career... still, it's gotta beat insurance... :sly:

It's not just my dad; my school administration really cracks down on the amounts of skin visible (only this year are girls allowed to wear tank tops, and they can't have spaghetti straps or anything). If they saw some of those ads, I'd be suspended at a moment's notice.

(just a side note, half of the ads are already blocked by my school's filter, so what does that say about their content?)

Your parents have a way too strong stranglehold on you. It's an advert, you're not planning on shooting up or having a sex change. Considering all the other websites on the internet, they're lucky you're coming here.
Well i guess if it's the adverts that are bothering them, just explain that you know an easy way to get rid of them. Then go Premium ;)

I never get any adds even without Premium. But I do agree that adds like that shouldn't be here, but I'm totaly not sure because I've never seen them.

Suggestive ads should be disabled from our primary adserver...can you identify the company that is advertising? I need more information before I can investigate.

This is the worst one I saw on a quick runthrough. If that's what your pops has a problem with...

Edit: It looks like some of the screensaver ads might qualify as well.

Most of them are for dating sites and such. I haven't actually seen them today, so I'm willing to bet the problem has been resolved. Thanks Jordan.

The few that I've seen have been from findromance.com

Thanks, cardude - as benign as those ads are, I do see how they are suggestive. I may not be able to (because that ad network sucks), but I will try and have them removed from our rotation.

I have thought of a way to keep things like that from happening. I play slipknot in my room, and my parents never step a foot in ma room. impressive eh?

Ugh...looks like I'm going to have to get mad at these folks. As always, thanks for the heads-up, guys.

Hate to bring a dead thread up, but earlier on today I was browsing the "Photography and Camera" Section, and to my shock, there was a advertisment for "Breast Enlargement". The picture wasn't particularly suggestive however what was advertising for isn't exactly suitable for people under a certain age. I can't copy and paste what it looked like as I didn't think of it at the time.

Hope you can resolve this. :)

Oh quit complaining and get Premium again. ;) I don't have to put up with ads anymore since I got a lifer.... but yeah, I do wonder what cool ads I'm missing now. :(

I can't afford it, and feel as though it will be a waste of money due to the fact I'm using GTP less and less so it would not be a worthy investment. Plus the fact I want a new camera lens, a guitar and a amp all before the year is out means I don't have the resources needed i.e money.

yeah, i'd get GTP Premium, but for me, i just got another job working at a Kroger(my boss at my other job--which was being a Fire Alarm Technician-- just recently fired me because i can't advertise the company over the ne without asking... which i didn't), so i'm saving up for either a smart fortwo, or a Triumph Speed Triple.
