DJ, what kind of time did you guys run last night? I was about 2 to 3 seconds slower on Racing Hard, in offline practice. That first turn gets me everytime.

The fastest I ran was a 1.47.881 with the YellowHat YMS Supra '05. The two Xanavi racers and Castrol TOMS Supra '97 fastest times were 1.48ish. I'm still testing out different cars to see which one I like the best.

Thanks for sharing the time. I hope to be around that pace online. This should be an interesting race. Lots of opportunities to get together with other cars at the first corner and at the chicane. Also the abundance of grass means spinning will set you back a lot of time.

BTW I had a weird issue with my game freezing last night. I loaded the ghost of my fastest lap (the yellowhat supra) and then hot lapped with the Penzoil GT-R. Well right when I cross the finish line on the first lap, instead of the momentary lag while the ghost car is reloaded the game just froze. No response to any button inputs at all and the sound was stuck on the exhaust of the GT-R. I had to press the PS button and quit game both times.

Anybody else have this issue?

I'm really excited about this race. Did some practice runs this evening with the Xanavi and the Supra 97. The Xanavi time is 1:48+ while the Supra 97 is 1:49+. I felt more in control drive the Supra though :(, I guess we'll see tomorrow.

I spun almost every lap. It will be a struggle just not to be lapped. Tire wear was pretty excessive. These cars are a handful.

I'm out of town right now in 29 springs cali but as soon as I get home tomorrow ill put some cars online

The xanavi gt-r or z? I prefer the z but the gt-has some torque

Managed a 1:47.0 in the Xanavi GT-R last night. Times were really inconsistent. I then started to change my settings and now I cannot find the 1:47 setup. Haha. Had a few 1:50s as well. Too much power at corner exit is going to cause a lot of problems for me.

Did not get to try the Xanavi Z as I ran out of credits buying used cars.

Yeah the long right hander after the slalom and first corner is tricky on exit. Gotta be gentle with the throttle or the cars start to go sideways a bit. I can catch it before it spins out totally but all that time spinning tires really affects the lap time.

Just got home from the road trip. I am uploading cars to share as I type. If you need a gt500 car feel free to borrow one.

DJ - Thanks for having me. I stunk up the track, but I plan to be back next week :scared:

X

LOL Thanks for coming out! I really appreciate it and don't worry I've stunk up my share of tracks.

FYI: I will post up the race results and standings tomorrow. Pictures will be in a couple of days hopefully also. Thanks to everybody who came out!

Xonant, good to have you in the race.

I watched the replay and figured out what happened to me. I was running pretty good in qualifying with 46.1, and started on pole. At the 3rd slow right hander, I was minding my business and got pushed off. Had to watch a few times to figure out what happened. I think Grayfox spun at the 2nd corner, which caused Thlogan to spin, which in turn caused RyceBouy to spin and crash into me. What an interesting chain of events.

After that, the best time I could do was 46.7 and was constantly running about 47.0 or 47.1 Roadrash was good, he did not make any mistakes and I had no hopes of closing the gap.

Will not be able to join you guys on Fridays, so have fun!

Yes, I'll take the blame for the "Big One" at Daytona. I spun after the little chicane after turn one. I got my right wheels on the grass and with GT500 cars its not the smartest move to come back on track so quickly. I feel terrible about messing up the grid after the first turn. Sorry to everyone who was involved, especially to snoopykuan who was in first place and i might of caused him a win. I was right behind snoopy and we would of had a great battle for the lead. Wont happen again and i hope the next race goes without any hitches.

Grayfox, no worries and no apology necessary. Just a racing incident. It was pretty funny on replay because I had to keep restarting to see how and why everyone was spinning.

Daytona road course is big and fast, and we were pretty spread out so most of the time I was just racing by myself against the gap. It would have been nice to race for the lead.

Here is an idea: even though I will not be able to race on Fridays, the next time we race on Thursdays, would you guys be willing to race for longer? Say 45 minutes so we would have to pit 2x?

@coolracer101 the next race will be on 3-25-2011. You can always visit the website to get the latest info. Here's a link to the calendar: http://supertunercar.webs.com/apps/calendar/

@Grayfox don't worry buddy. I've learned over the races we've been in that you always try to race as clean as possible and thats all we really ask for. I look forward to seeing you race every week and am glad you participate.

@st1sj I would definitely not mind a longer race. If the other racers don't mind we can increase the number of laps to 25 for future events.

In fact, I think that everyone should post a number of laps they would like to run when voting. It should always be at least 16 laps though. I love the pit stops:dopey: Pit stops just make the race feel more like a real race for me.

Also I have updated the first 3 original posts on this thread to reflect the latest info and have updated the news on the leagues website. check it out when you get the chance.

Oh and I'll work on taking pics and posting them as soon as I get my daughter off the tv LOL

DJ, I would like to run a race where by the end, after all pitstops, the tires are almost gone. I think this could create some interesting situations--e.g., do you pit and get new tires but lose the time, or struggle on worn tires hoping to make it to the end. Different cars/track combination may work better than other to get this result.

Or we can run a longer race with changing weather.

While longer races would require more time, we could perhaps run them once in awhile.

Grayfox is obviously a good driver AND a good guy. We've all made similar mistakes in the past and we will probably repeat them sometime in the future. I really enjoy racing with this group, because we have guys like Greyfox.

I'm up for longer races, if that's the consensus. What I really would like to see is some larger turnouts. That way, I'll have more company in the back.
