Welcome kikie and stickler you'll find good clean racers here.
STICKLER some good races the other night, glad to see the numbers growing.
👍👍👍

Dear Sherlock;

It is possible that you are right. I have always used the preset settings (qualification / race / sharp turning), but have change the tyres compound usually (hard in dry / intermediate instead of wet).

I'll further investigate (let me just put my fake beard and shades)

I got a freeze too. 20 lap races, all assists off, tire wear, penalties etc. on, difficulty legend (car Maserati!). I got the freeze on second race weekend going into the second race and yes, with a custom setup. I booted my PS3, put some pre-setup and I was able to drive the race. I did drive with a custom setup in the first weekend too, but didn't have any freezes there. So based on this topic, it seems that custom setup freezes the game sometimes, but not always. Unless someone had freezes with presets too. The first game froze often without a reason, so I don't think that's impossible either.

If someone had those SBK-games, did they ever get patches?

I personally dont think they will release a patch unless they had a fault which was likely to cost them more than producing and releasing a patch.

At the end of the day it wont come down to making the game better, it will just be a matter of whether its cost effective to do so.

Maybe im just Sceptical...

ANYWAY GP season starts today WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT

Good races tonight guys, had some right old battles in "THE RED SQUIREL" noteably a certain red audi who gave me a run for my money towards the end of the night.
Right Bretherin Jizzy, one more racing excuse about you brakes on that merc and Niel will be dispatch warrington bound! Racing is racing but comeon at least throw in a "sorry the cat just bit me" or "I picked up a slow puncture in that last corner" I know the brakes are tos mate, you'll just have to brake earlier I'm sending you the bill for the back end of my 550i......oh and my sandwiches are missing of my rear parcel shelf, could you check there not stuck in your radiator LOL ;)

Hey guys. Saw a few of you racing last night and it was fun to finally get in a game with you. The only problem was, I'd been drinking Port all evening whilst waiting for the missus to go to bed before I could get some SSV8NC time in. I was way too drunk to be playing though. Missing braking points, braking to early etc. After lap 1 of the second race, I just had to pull up off track for fear of wrecking everyone's game.

Hopefully next time I see you guys online, I'll be a bit more sober!👍

No worries, I'm the same stalker.......drink driving wrecks races LOL I had the obligitory 1 pint last night and things were going well, till the second pint and the rain LOL.
The 10 lap race in the rain at Imola at the end of the night saw myself locking horns with nmh66 audi, finaly got round him around lap 6 and pull away a little only for my tyres to start to go on lap 7....then that 4WD audi was on me like a shot, he got round me on lap 9 and it took everything just to keep up with him!

Did notice as a few others did that the car was more unsettled when tucked in behind someone through the twisty bits, and the back end must have broke away about 5 times under heavy braking in a straight line when tucked up on that race......

I switched to the 550i so had to learn the car but I really like it, loads of grunt, quick of the line and good brakes. corners well, and slides are slow and predictable, it's only downside I'd say was mid range aceleration. It dose look after it's tyres well, but if you abuse the tyres then when they go off they go off in a BIG way!

Oh and finaly, and before Neil gets back from is "visit" to fix brother Jizzys brakes I've started using bonet cam in preferance to bumper cam. With the close races we have sitting looking at a 42 inch HD rendition of someones bumper while entering a chicane was proving to be a recipe for missed apex's and braking points. So I switched to the slightly higher bonet cam view. I can now look through the back window of the car in front to see where I'm going.....and Redgate do you really need those fury dice hanging from your center mirrior? Oh yeah one problem though, my 550i has a huge red squirel on the bonnet which adds a humerous touch to rear end rubing as the thing looks like it's pounding the car in front with his feet LOL

Hey, I added some of you guys, so it's easier to see when there's people racing (so that I don't have to put the disc in to check, lazy me). Accept or reject, it's up to you :)

Btw, I did a little calculating for every car based on the horsepower and weight given in the game menus. It's about how many kilograms 1 horsepower has to move:

BMW M5 E39: 3,047 kg/hp
BMW 550i E60: 3,049 kg/hp
Mercedes C63: 3,063 kg/hp
Chrysler 300C SRT8: 3,121 kg/hp
BMW M3 E90: 3,155 kg/hp
BMW M3 E92: 3,226 kg/hp
Jaguar S Type R: 3,244 kg/hp
Chevrolet CR8: 3,349 kg/hp
Audi RS4: 3,381kg/hp
Cadillac CST-V: 3,625 kg/hp
Maserati Quattroporte: 3,675 kg/hp

The interesting part for this in my opinion is, that they are somewhat in line with turnupdaheat's test: https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showpost.php?p=3777025&postcount=273. They might actually be at least a little bit accurate and not just thrown in there randomly!

4/10.......Please read this review guys. It shows the utter incompitence of "some" reviewers. Every point bar "The lack of people online" is completly wrong. This review is one of 3 linked to IGN the other 2 giving it a solid 7/10 If I'd have read this review before buying the game I'd have needed my head examining if I would have then bought it. This is the type of reviewer who kills small software companies like blackbean. A review is a mixture of fact and opinion......when you state the "facts" wrongly then you need to really question if your in the right job!

Sometimes when I'm racing in a public lobby, like Stalker, I feel I could do with a Port or two to calm my nerves with the amount of violent punters to be found in this game. Any Port in a Storm you might say :)

Enjoyed the racing last night guys and it was great that more good clean and quick drivers joined us. The red Audi you mentioned Hereward was driven by mhm66 (Henrik) who is one of the quickest SCC drivers around. He only got the game earlier this week so we'll all have to watch out as you can be sure his speed will only improve as will the pace of another SCC regular who joined us, Frawe (Frank).

Another guy you couldn't help notice was da78co. He is extremely handy with that M5 and you will find his name up towards the top of the Player Rankings and laptime leaderboard. His name is David and he's from Italy. I met him, initially, in a public lobby and during a race we had in Portimao he was taking the extremely wide lines off the track that happens alot in this game. I sent him a PM after the race politely commenting on the off track excursions and we got talking. He agreed to keep the car on the track whenever we race and we've had some great battles ever since. I invited him to join us after he asked about where he could get some good quick and clean competition and I think you'll all agree he's a good addition. He asked me to thank everyone who was there last night.

That dose actualy look right, from what we've seen on the track the cars at the top of the list seem to do best......bar you in the quadroporte......but that could be explained by the weight being beneficial as regards to stability in the corners, I can vouch that the Audi is also a monster in the corners....That would mean however that the JaaaG is as we suspected, a load of rubbish LOL

I know nhm66 of old and my days on FC and SCC, he's actualy on my friends list LOL Was great to see so many new faces on there last night and racing as usual was tight and fast. Just looking at the fastest laptimes at the end of the race gave you a good imprecion of how close people were, with the leaders starting at the back everyone has a battle throughout the race.

I drove a little test on Varano one day, I drove only couple laps/car, except with Maserati, with that I drove more than 10 laps. And my results were quite close to that list, M5 was the quickest, other BMW's quick too as well as the Merc. Biggest difference was that Jaaaag and Audi were fast too. Jaaaag being fast could have something to do with me being familiar with the Jaaaag, I drove the championship in the first version through with Jaaaag. Audi was very quick too, but it needed to be driven with very different style. With Maserati I was about +1sec slower compared to fastest cars, even though I drove most laps with it.

This review is absolutely shocking. Firstly, the criticism of the AI is completely wrong. To say it have the worst AI in any racing game is a complete joke. I know most of us in this thread are a bit fanboy-ish about this game, but I think we all agree without any kind of bias that the AI is really good. I think it's the best in any racing game currently on PS3.
The comments about the AI just ploughing straight into the back of you and making no attempt to deviate from the racing line are total BS. They very often take different lines to each other, and quite often you'll see them having a good old battle amongst themselves too. I think Blackbean have worked hard and succeed well in creating some really smart offline opponents to race against.

I was a little surprised at his comments too that even the hardest setting was too easy. I was playing it this morning for the first time on legendary after completing the season I was doing, and found the step up in difficulty was vast. All I can think is that he was starting a quick race from the start of the grid or was lying, because if he was having problems turning in/ accelerating out of corners etc, he'd have got destroyed in race on legendary setting. The AI really punishes you on this setting even for the slightest mistake.

I agree with you Hereward; anyone thinking about buying this game would seriously think twice after reading this review. The problem is though, because only a few sites have chosen to review the game, the chances of them seeing and believing this piss poor excuse for a review are high. The only good side to this is that maybe it'll keep the level of kids looking for a demolition derby to a minimum.

Rant over!👍

The enthusiasm in this thread persuaded me to buy the game this week and so far so good:tup: The Shifters arvore and addictions to blame for my shrinking bank balance!! A question if i may ask : when you play online are you able to race cars with your own tunes, or are they stock (like Shift's stock cars in manufacturers races). Thanks in advance:confused:

I dumped the M5 as it just was becoming too unstable on the limit as my driving improved, swaped to the 550i which is much more forgiving (suprisingly looking at the power to weight ratio) but after last night I'm defernitly going to try that Audi.

Another convert to add to the growing Brethren then!:tup:Just stock tunes unless doing the time trial during online races Zeeco.

No custom tunes available in online races, this to some is a bad point but having the cars fairly standard makes for V8's greatest onine feature which is the close racing. There is however a big difference in the cars though there particular strenghs are offset by a weakness in other areas (fast on the straight slow in a corner) which balances things up nicely. You need to pick a car which suits your driving style or a paticular track.

We have some very fast guys racing online and I've yet to see the reason for this being the car there in! as an example a poor driver in an audi and I'll eat him for breakfast, a good driver in an audi and thats a whole other story! Same goes for any car really! Even the JaaaG :)

I have to add here that in most driving games you'll allways get a certain car which is favoured by most racers as it gives them an advantage, not so in V8 Also in other racing games having a close race is say 1-2 laps tucked up under the wing of your rival, in V8 you can be tucked up, trading paint and swaping track position with the same guys for 10 laps in the wet and neither of you will take each other off, just keep putting the preasure on and looking for that door to be left slightly open for your next move up the inside or lining the guy up to for an entire lap just to draft past him on the long straight. If you take into account the whole field is doing this race after race it really is an impresive online racer.....oh and no lag and no frame rate drop.........what you see in single player is what you get online!

Thank you stalker 👍 I am not there yet but good to know the playing field (or should i say racing field) is more level then

Power to weight ratio naturally tells only that. Iirc, M5 is lighter and have less hp and 550i is heavier and has more hp but in the end they have almost the same power to weight ratio. That could explain why 550i feels more stable? Also I don't think there is any difference on the brake power of these cars. It's simply that the heaviest cars take the longest travel to stop. Worst stoppers are Merc, Caddy and Maserati. Merc is probably the worst, because it has huge amount of hp and is able to gain more speed on the straights and for that needs longer stopping distance. I think I'll add cars kg's and hp's in with that power to weight ratio when I play next time.

 I just clicked through the menu this morning and although I was signed in, could not find any online games. I then created a match to make sure I was online and waited for about 10 minutes and nothing happened. I find that bizarre. Is that normal?

What the merc dosn't brake well.......you don't say! oh hang on just let me get out the way of jizzy before he slams into the back of me again LOL :sly:

I've just noticed this game recently and it sounds quite promising. Can someone sum up this game in a nutshell for me - how does it compare to other games like SCC or GRID?

In particular how does the handling / driving experience line up against games like SCC? For single player, is there a decent length championship mode and for online, is it a stable lag-free experience?

Apologies if this is all spelled out in the thread already and I've missed it. I have the attention span of a gnat sometimes...

10am on a saturday morning.....yep most petrol heads are asleep or out buying superfast ballbearings! You'll find a pile of us on later this afternoon and tonight.....get some practice in on single player in the meantime, try legend dificulty if you need a challenge 👍

Jip need some practice especially on the wet tracks. Is there a Landrover available as I am mostly in the gravel? Cant phone the AA either :grumpy:
