Downshift problem is still there.
I use manual trasmission with controller (x up, square down).
Time trial: Mines has the problem, Mazda 787 at Spa has the problem too.

What is the "downshift problem"?

Drip fed incremental fixes.
Please tell me we dont get sarah giving her advice at the start of every race? She's at the start of the 2 FF races but thats as far as ive got.I know you can spam the circle button to move on.

Don't think it's bugged. I guess this is what they could manage technically. Maybe we'll get a real save option one day.

I think that they could maybe make some sort of mid session save like in the f1 game. In these game if you do one all the replay before your save is deleted to reduce the amount of data saved I think, and you restart in an instant replay/flashback. Of course we don’t have the flashback option for gt7 but I think a start like the ones for track experience could work great.
Then of course I’m not a programmer so I have no idea how hard it would be to implement that in game but I’m just saying it has been done before for other games….

Seems like it's time for me to get the DLC then. I was worried I won't be able to win the races since I suck and people had been saying these are difficult.
You dont need to win every race. I have races where i am betwen 3rd and 5th.
You can also revisit them later. Doing them more than once can improve your results. The dlc is far better than the racing you will get on the normal world circuits events.

I'm pretty sure that was the whole point of the update? It's not a "problem".
Do you think that the current behaviour is what Poliphony wanted?
I also thought it could be a possibility, but I’m not happy with this.

So,my wheel paddle may not be breaking?....I did a gt 500 race in the PP and went to shift down ,,,wouldn't work....had the issue the whole race.....did the second gt 500 PP race and left paddle worked good....did a 3rd race at road Atlanta and it started happening again a few times......

I can’t downshift quickly as before 1.66 update.
I’m in 4th gear, push the button for 3d ok, push again for 2nd it doesn’t work.
Yeah, that's literally the point of one of the whole four listed changes.
Although there are only four items in the patch notes, there’s one that’s particularly interesting and has global effects. Listed under “physics simulation model”, the unassuming line states that players who opt to shift gears manually will have a downshift input ignored if it’s at “extremely high” engine speed.

This is a technique often used in some time trial events as — depending on the vehicle used — rapidly shuffling down the ‘box while the engine screams can assist with deceleration, even though it sounds absolutely awful. We’ve run a quick couple of tests and, while you can still over-rev the engine a little, on paddles at least it does seem to curb the ability to repeatedly downshift.

The thing about downshifting, those of us on controller, we can't skip gears from 6th to 4th, 4th to 2nd. Every car are sequential shift. If the programming could read a double tap to signal two down changes, that would help.

I don’t think you understand how transmissions work. If you won’t get 5th coming from 6th, you won’t get 4th either. Both would be money shifts

Ai is weak now. I shouldn't be putting 4s a lap on them.
Its not a huge difference. I did the same race before and after the update. At most the ai is 1 sec slower than before.

But i would not need this change, and proaply only did because people was crying it was difficult, those people should stay in world circuits.

I always use the middle car, taking the fastest car makes it to easy.

If you are very fast player it might not be challanging, but for the average player the races are still challenging. For even a more challange take the slowest car for each race.

I'm a slow driver and for me the power package has become boring, we used to race 2 to 3 racers now they are scattered around the track and easy cruising.
It was pretty much the same for me even before the update, it was always one or two that was faster, and the remain unchanged at least for me.

Using the middle or the slower cars is still challenging if you are an average player,

But the difficulty can be very different from race to race,

But wish they made it the same, but people has complain its to difficult but those should just try to get better instead.

And pd is on impossible task if they going optimize the ai for both fast and more average players

I thought that re-running the same races would give you the same ammount of stars as you won first time again. This is not the case,I assume its to stop people doing one race over and over just to collect stars.

Don't you get more stars if you improve your results in the race? Like, P3 first time and P1 after the second go? What about same results but with increased difficulty ... no new stars if P1 with 1-chilly and then, later, P1 with 2-chilly?
