Reading all these threads about the change to shifting I'm curious to see what excuse the "normies" are going to come up with to explain the fact that all the aliens are still dominating all the leaderboards even though they can't exploit the downshift "cheat" anymore.
Oh this "normie" know exactly why the aliens are still dominating leaderboards.

TLDR reason - fast folks will be fast.

One of the things the leaderboard dominators are fastest at is;

In some circles it's called an OODA loop.

The AI rebalancing was definitely in order.

So far, no other race except the FF tuning @ Dragon Trail Gardens bugged me.

I just gave it another try, and it almost feels as though the AI (specifically Miyazono) is pitying you, as opposed to being nigh unbeatable last time.

Here's my run from 1.65. Language warning at the end.

Since downloading this latest update the game on my PS4 has horrible lag and loading times. I'm used to the game not loading anything in a hurry but this is another level or two. Mid race screen freezing/unfreezing etc. For example I go into GTAuto to swap wheels on my car and it takes ages for the car model to load and even more so if I want to preview different wheels. I thought it was the console so I fired up Ghost Recon Wildlands and it seems to handle it fine with the exception of the odd freeze but then unfreezes so I can still play. I haven't seen any other PS4 players with similar problems with this latest update so could be just the console.

Tomorrow I might do a system reinstall and see if that does anything. Thank god for cloud saves.
Unfortunately the PS4 will from now on be slower to load things, it was slow for me prior to Spec III and I had to upgrade anyway to the PS5.
If you can please do get a PS5, things are much quicker here on this side...

Cross-posting from the Project Motor Racing General discussion thread:

A controversial opinion here: as someone only really interested in SP, and who's been playing the new GT7 PowerPack for the last week, as things stand today, after the latest PP patch, a Race Weekend in PMR is better than racing in the PowerPack. There, I can barely believe I said it, but it's true.
If I set up my PMR weekend with a 1 hour practice session, 10 min qually, and 8, 10, 12, whatever-lapper, I have a very similar format to the PowerPack races.
But I can choose whatever car I want (rather than just one of three), the level (speed) of opponent AI (rather than using a nerfed car to make things seem harder), the length of the race, time of day, season and weather.
Yes, the cars in PMR are more difficult to drive on pad (and I can't map the inputs to my preference), but post-patch not that difficult any more. It's crossed a threshold, and I'm OK with it, it's challenging not frustrating.
The PowerPack is more polished, far, far, far more polished, and Sophy is very good now that it employs defensive lines, so the PP wins on AI. PMR's AI is still lethal to be around, but is pretty predictable and can be set to be fast; it's good enough.
Probably quite a controversial take, but especially after PD's meddling to make the PP races easier, that's the way I see it.

I wish we could merge them to take the best bits of each.

You can adjust the bindings

This is default

This is how I've set it

There is that bindings screen, but you cannot bind some of the buttons (square and circle, off the top of my head, maybe triangle too; you can unbind them from their presets, but cannot reallocate them, seems to be a bug).

If you think that's wrong, pls show me a screen with L2 allocated to gear down, R2 gear up, X as accelerate and Square as brake, which is what I'd like to try. The sticking point will be the Square button (you'll be able to unbind it, but not reallocate it.) I'd be VERY happy to be proved wrong...

Anyway, this is the wrong forum, let alone thread, for PMR settings, but just sayin'...

Another race from the PP tonight, Kyoto Yamagiwa with the GT300, again qualified easily with 2s margin, then took a good start and only time I saw AIs again is when I begun laping them.

Noticed a bug with the annoying Sarah, she would say "Lomic is currently leading" (or something like that) each time I will be lapping a car, as if she believes that car was in front of me.

I used no chili car, before patch it was a good balance for me, even difficult to win on some events. Since patch I re-done the races where I did not win pre-patch and won. And the 2 other races I've tried (Autopolis and Kyoto Kawagima) were a walk in the park. I will need to try one chili cars from now on.
As I am not a good driver, I am sorry for them because PP must be quite boring now. Me at least, I can use a lesser car to find some challenge again.

Sarah feels like an afterthought sometimes with how stuff like this gets missed. I too noticed this when I was lapping the AI thinking Sarah please shut up. They have the blue flag. They are not important :irked:

Like Sarah would be 1,000,000x more useful if she said something like, "Driver A is pitting and selecting Hards," or something to that affect, JUST like in GT4 wow, what a concept :ouch:

Got me my first win on FF battle Dragon Trail after I dont know how many attempts, lowest level but do I care? No,just happy to get a win under my belt.Ive actually got getting off the line almost right now,TC off, full throttle then straight into 2nd etc.Seems to work for me.
I dont know if or why they have made the races easier,I suppose GT has always been about being accessible to everyone but why the change so quick.Maybe they just nerfed the easier level a little bit to make it easier for people like me.👍

I always either i use the middle car or the slowest car, the first car will be to fast and make it to easy. Using the slowest car will still be challange to win at least for the average player. If you are one of the faster drivers you might still be able to win with slowest car fairly easy. I am far from the fastest driver, but i find using the slowest car gives a great challange, much more enjoyable than world circuit events. Having very fun with the power pack so far.

I'm slowly saving for a PS5. I only got into GT7 via this cheap PS4 in August, wish I had've done this earlier and I would have a PS5 by now. But that's life. So I fired up the game this morning and it turned out I had a corrupt save. The game resorted to an earlier save and now the game works completely fine. I'm thrilled.

Turns out I never really do money shifts, this update barely affected my enjoyment of driving (which isn't that fast in the first place but still) haven't bought the DLC in fear of having to adjust my driving so this is good.

The Balancing is better now but the American Muscle Car races on Laguna Seca or Road Atlanta is still impossible for me to win.

LOL, you should post this comment in the power pack thread where there is much complaining about how easy it has become.

Me, I just want to be entertained...I was entertained before, and I am still entertained.

The Power Pack nerf feels like the same rugpull as update 1.07. Start out with something that seems good, and then take away everything that made it good.

Then it was an intentional choice to worsen the grind and encourage buying insanely expensive MTX. Now, the insanely expensive DLC was sold on a promise of realistic and challenging racing, only to cut race lengths and make the AI non competitive.

I'm very glad I didn't buy it. It was hard to feel that it could be worth the $30 before, but now that it's nothing but a $30 MTX pack with some extra World Circuits events tacked on, nothing about it presents any decent value. I'd buy the cars alone for $5. I'd consider buying the overall power pack for $10 without the MTX. I'm not buying this whole mess at $30. Most of the $30 "value" is in them forcing you to buy the MTX along with it. Something they don't need to make. You're literally just handing them money for nothing, and they'll throw in some activities on the side.

funny that you say it's not worth 30 bucks and you haven't even tried it

I don't think you have to try something to have an opinion if it's worth the price tag.

I like the PP a lot and I don't think 30 euros is a fair price for what it offers. I'm still glad they did it though and I didn't mind paying for it because we have had other content for free.

Even before that, the endurances in it were already seen to be less valuable compared to WTC800 at Spa. And now there's new pay-to-win accusations with the ongoing Daily Race A where a Power Pack-exclusive car (Mustang American Racer) is the meta.

Why did they shorten so many of the power pack races??? Who asked for that? Genuinely can't fathom why they'd do that. Just chopped like 1-5 laps off basically every race?
exactly 😭😭 especially since it's supposed to be realistic racing, like why shorten them if they're the best when longer if anything they should've made them longer, this pack lacks 30-120 minute races and those would be so good with this ai...

For the lol, I did the first European master race with no practice and skipped qualify. Managed P1 anyway. At first my intent was to quit the race to see if it will allow me to do next one or not. Because I have no idea how you must rank to be able to advance to next event/reward (only finished 1st or 2nd in all races so far).

For me willow Springs FF was much more difficult. Admittedly knocked the leader car off the road, & felt like fair play in the digital world.
