So have any of you hoons got a Symbian OS phone? Oh man they are so cool!

Well I purchased a Nokia 6600 and im realy impressed with what you can do with the damn thing. At the moment all I have is an .ogg player and Picodrive which is a Sega Genisis/Megadrive Emulator.

Has anyone else got a symbian phone and do they have any good free apps that you can download?

I thought a symbian was that ulta-psycho sex toy thing.

:dunce:

i know. just trying to add some humor, because I swear i thought this topic said Sybian Phone at first glance.

On the topic of vibration. I heard the new Nokia N91 and N90 don't have a vibration feature, whats the technical reason for this? if any.

I think they do,because it would be stupid for nokia to not have vibration feature in their hig-end phones.I recommend you to go to some specialised mobile/cell phone site for details.
or check nokia website,too.

And I have a nokia 3650 now,had a nokia 3230 until few days ago, when I sold the phone because the keybord is positioned way too low for my hands.Too bad because that phone has a integrated MP3 player and FM radio, and it's really loud.
My favorite program would be Puppetmaster-with that program your symbian phone becomes a remote for your computer! You can even browse the folders of your PC on your
phone. It has support for winamp, windows media player ect.....
Only thing is,to be able to use it,you need a bluetooth USB dongle, but they are cheap, cost is usually round 12-25 $.

I know that both the N90 and N91 do not have vibration. Most likely it's because of the N91's 4GB hard disk and the N90's external lense being not too happy with vibrations.

I had a P800 a couple of years ago and it was awesome :D Got a bit boring after a while, but i had full screen (touch screen at that) DOOM baby!! Doom kicked so much arse it's just hilarious. I would sit in lectures at uni and people would be looking over my shoulder and laughing. It was something to behold!

Loved the ability to play MP3s and browse the internet. Loved the gaming of course. Trying to write emails with the touchscreen was rubbish, esp. whilst walking anywhere, and phone people just made you look silly. So as a phone it wasn't so great but as a toy, it was the nuts 👍

Might consider getting another Symbian mobile next year actually if something comes out worth while (nice new SE P1000 maybe :D).

i picked up the motorola a1000 back in april and had loads of problems with it. sent it off for a service and a software update and its been ok since.

anyone know of any sites where i can pick up some decent free apps?

Oh man this is an old thread, or a thread I forgot about.

I've actually got a DivX player and Gameboy Emulator now. I might have to try the doom now, seeing as i've found my old doom cd's for the wad files.

You don't have a vw polo do you poolio?

I have a Sony Ericsson P990i and a 2gb memory stck, it's got everything on it.

err.........................no i dont. why?

Nokia has finally done it... FINALLY!

A 5MP dual LED flash camera phone with 16:9 touchscreen and a slide out QWERTY keyboard, what more do you want? All hail Symbian!

The N97. That's such an epic want, I'd lay down $1000 for it....

...BUT resistive touchscreen...Come on Nokia.

I doubt the resistive touchscreen is going to be a major problem. It's not going to stop me from buying a N97. Personally, I really do not care which technology it is.

Well, I'm waiting for the 8 megapixel flagship with xenon, the N97 and 5800 are uber, but I'd much rather take a more conventional imaging flagship.

On a sidenote, I currently have an N73, though I'm planning to upgrade to an N82 or an N95 Classic later on.

I don't know about 8 MP just yet. The sensors are still a bit bulky, just look at the Samsung INN0V8. Xenon flash would be nice, but it's not a deal killer either.

I currently have a N93i on it's last legs. I want to upgrade to the US version of the N85, but the N82 with the xenon flash is cheaper. Or maybe I should hold out until June (hopefully) for the N97... aaahhh!

Right when I pull the trigger on a N85 (should be here on Wednesday), Nokia scoots out a new Nseries.

N86:

Same features as the N85 except for the 8MP camera. I think it looks great in the same white/silver design as the N79 and N97. Expect it in quarter 2 of 2009 for Europe (US translation: late 2009, early 2010 :scared:). My only worry is that this N86 could be DOA if the N97 hits in June.

Is today the day Symbian died?

N900

  • ARM Cortex-A8 600MHz processor with up to 1GB of application memory (256MB RAM and 768MB of virtual memory).
  • 3.5 inch widescreen, 800 x 480 pixels resolution, resistive touch.
  • Dimensions of 110.9 x 59.8 x 18mm (19.5mm at camera), weight of 181g. This is shorter, but wider, thicker and heavier than the N97 (117 x 55.3 x 15.9mm at 150g). It's significantly smaller than the N810 (72 x 128 x 14mm at 226g), the previous Maemo device.
  • Horizontal slider form factor with 3 line QWERTY keyboard on the lower slide and integrated (around the camera) device 'kick' stand.
  • WiFi (b/g) (includes UPnP support) and HSDPA connectivity (triband WCDMA 900/1700/2100 and quadband GSM). The 1700 band is for T-Mobile USA (which suggests the N900 is headed for a carrier in the US to go up against Palm Pre (Sprint) and iPhone (AT&T).
  • 5 megapixel main camera (2.8 aperture, 5.2 focal length, dual LED flash and video light), with Carl Zeiss Tessar optics, video capture at WVGA (800 x 480) at up to 25 frames per second. Camera supports geotagging, tagging with keyword and ability to share to Ovi and Flickr.
  • Integrated GPS with A-GPS.
  • Integrated FM transmitter.
  • Bluetooth 2.1, including full support for stereo headsets (A2DP and AVRCP).
  • Nokia 3.5mm AV connector for audio input/output and TV-Out.
  • microUSB for connectivity and charging.
  • 32GB of internal flash storage, microSD card slot
  • Nokia BL-5J battery with 1320 mAh capacity.
So, who's switching to T-Mobile? If there is no unlocked 850/1900 model, then I am!

I don't think it means the immediate death of Symbian, but the ammount of high-end Symbian devices will most likely fall down, the only upcoming Symbian device I can remember is SE's Satio. I personally find the N900 quite intriguing, it's one of my candidates for my next upgrade (the other's the Xperia X2), what I dislike however is the apparent lack of a proper d-pad and physical keys, I'm not really a fan of the all-touch-and-social trend that we have now.

I do like the Nokia X6 with all the features of the N97 plus a capacitive touch screen. As for Symbian... I always idolized it for being different. Now, Symbian looks no different than a feature phone. I know Symbian is powerful, doing more things than the iPhone could imagine, it sure don't look like it can. I think the N900 could be very refreshing.

I'm making my return to S60 after a love affair with Crackberries (8110, 8310, 8320, 8900, 9000)..

Just grabbed myself an N85-3 last night.. loving it. I am considering the N900..
