Depends on how its modeled, or what you want to achieve.
I would say Seattle looks better with the dome than without it, there would be a huge hole otherwise (or is there a different building now?).

I didn't think it would be hard for PD to delete the King Dome from the Seattle Circuit. It was demolished in 2000 but appeared in GT3 and GT4.

and to think that they spent all thay time modeling Safeco Field...

It must be harder than we think to remove or change things once they are developed.

I still think changing the color pattern of the shoulder pads won't be too hard. Nor is deleting a building from a track. Maybe someone forgot?

It's not a matter of forgetting. It would be easy for a Japanese dev team to "overlook" the changes made to a city in USA. I think part of the reason for keeping their tracks the same is money/cost. PD takes hundreds of photographs to model real world locations. Once a track is finished then it is hard to justify going back just to make sure that everything is the same.

On a side note, I never understood why they chose Seattle as location. It's an awesome track but just never made sense.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Laguna Seca rumble strips were red/white in GT5.

And if you choose not to do so, or are simply unable to do so because you bought the Arcade, you don't get to use those cars or tracks at all, correct?

Yup. Anyone who has an Arcade is unable to load DLC from disk or internet. Bummer they bought an Arcade, but I guess they were trying to save money. The good news is, the game on disk 1 is bigger than Forza 2 was.

But not the ring! I mean it's the ring man! Well... a distorted/badly modeled version of the ring (a.k.a ellipse ) but still!

The ring in FM is actually pretty solid, beside where they widened it for online friendly racing.

About the NASCAR part, I was talking about that T10 has the older cars in the screenshots. Do you think that, since PD has a NASCAR license, they will try to have the classic cars in the game?

They could easily ask the manufacterers for those cars since NASCAR doesn't dictate them. I wouldn't be surprised if they were already in GT5.

OH, certainly, you are right:

But for example, on Gran Turismo PSP, these Laguna Seca piano stripes remain red/white too.

If I recall, that photo is from 2006 (judging from the Zytek 06S and the Horag Lista Lola) and GT4 came out about 04/05. GT PSP course wise is GT4 so those rumble strips were probably like that at the time PD modeled the track.

Definately agree. The tires look way too skinny and it might just be me, but the front valence is too high.

Those Forza stock cars don't look very good to me. Maybe its the all gray and black scheme, something does not look right to me.

IMO the main problem is they are fictional. They don't even appear to be exact replicas of the car the NASCAR Sprint Cup series used before the CoT

Overall the dimensions do not look right.

- way too much ride height
- No goodyear logo on tires
- The nose is too short
- There is no window net
- wheel base is too long
- rear bumper is too high

These are some quick observations. I could go on and on but since they are fictional and aren't meant to be exact replicas of the real thing its kind of useless.

And as for customization, the trailer has shown PD will include several different paint schemes for each stock car in GT5. If they decide to include a livery editor for the stock cars in Gran Turismo then cool. It would work well with the cars.

I think they are just late models and not intended to be replica's of NASCAR Cup cars.

They are not pre-COT cars from NASCAR. They are late model cars, which can be found in ARCA/REMAX and ASA, which is what I raced. The dimensions are proper for those late models. So no, they are not fictional.

So the content on the second disc is considered DLC? That's how they're excusing leaving out Arcade owners? Then isn't it a bit disingenuous to claim "the game" has 400 cars and 100 tracks, if that includes "DLC"?

So what happens when an Arcade owner wants to race online and one of their opponents chooses one of the "DLC" cars? Are they booted from the race? Can they just not play online at all, a la Burnout?

The good news is, the game on disk 1 is bigger than Forza 2 was.
FM2 had over 300 cars, but only 47 tracks, so it sounds like FM3 offers fewer cars, but more tracks. Personally, I'd prefer more cars to more tracks, but either way, I don't see how you can simply say, "FM3 offers more." It sounds like a tradeoff to me.

Yup. More content to those with an HDD.

According to Turn 10, they see a ghost car (just like in FM2 when they don't have the DLC).

Turn 10 said FM3 offers more with the first disk than FM2 offered. I didn't say that. No need to spin it.

But FM3 on disk one does offer a longer and larger career, livery editor, all the tuning and parts and storefront (according to Turn 10). If they want the additional content (extra cars/tracks), they will have to fork over the $15 on eBay and get an HDD. They also need an HDD to get the free 10 cars when you buy the game at the store.

That is what they did with Gears of War 2 as well. You needed an HDD to get the free DLC when you bought the game.

The Decision by Turn 10 to add in blank stock cars is interesting. With the upgrade/tuning/livery editor you can create anything you want.

Create a NASCAR.

I think this is where livery editors shine, with blanks you now can create almost any car to your liken,
I have noticed they also added blank DTM touring cars such as the Mercedes-Benz & Audi.
This is an area that I hope PD will include.

:)

How can the ARCA cars be late models if they look exactly like the old cup cars that in Nationwide? For instance, here's the #90 Great Clips Toyota From Stringer Motorsports in ARCA:

Now here is the #38 Great Clips Toyota From Braun Racing in Nationwide:

Other then the teams, the numbers and tire suppier, whats the difference?

ARCA has lower compression engines, generally run about 4 years behind NASCAR in car bodies (which is why we are seeing Monte Carlos and Taurus' as opposed to Impalas and Fusions). ARCAs are hand me downs from NASCAR, which is why it's much less expensive to run when you want to start a team.

Since the bodies and frames are coming from NASCAR, the dimensions are proper and they are late models. They are not COTs.

Not sure if you've watched ARCA this year or recently, but I've seen a fair share of Fusions and Impalas(which is nothing more then the Monte Carlo SS with small changes to the rear windows and Model specific decals anyhow). I've only seen maybe two or three older Monte Carlos circa 2005 and one Taurus.

Guess you haven't been watching it as close as I, nor did you seem to realize that I too had the older models. Justin Lloyd (friend of mine) still is using his Monte Carlo.

I am completely aware of the body differences. We have a shop just south of Deerfield Wisconsin. We have our own frame build and repair system, and we do all but put the shells together there.

Other than being to no less than 300 NASCAR/REMAX races in my life, I am pretty confident how we build the cars.

It goes beyond the blanks. Every race car is paint-able this time. Just throw a new layer over the existing livery & presto!

Why is there no window nets on the FM3 cars? I guess they have their reasons
