so im planning to get a t500 within these few days, so do u mean current v5 pedals are better than previous one?

V4 and V5 pedals have compression springs instead of the notorious to fail torsion springs that were still present in pedals V1, V2 and V3.

Maybe you could go to a local store that specializes in springs and hardware of that nature be it they are mostly for automotive and machinery use , however they still may work. You may be able to find one that is the same as in the peddle set but of better quality since it is for real world use. Try looking in a local business directory, also stores specializing in nuts and bolts and bearings may have springs. From the pictures in the OP they look like they are only a simple spring however i don't own the peddles so i may be wrong. Hope that helps a little, if not feel free to ignore this.

Edit- I suggest taking your spring to the shop so they can match it

So our old pedals are obsolete.

With all these problems. When's the class action? Changing the design is admission to guilt.

Am I wrong for even considering purchasing a v4/v5 set and boxing my inferior v1 up and returning it for a refund.

No other options in getting our bad designed versions replaced.

Why not exchange several. Then refurb those. Then send out refurbs in exchange. Reduce the cost of replacing and still doing the right thing by upgrading the poorly designed and faulty designed v1-v3 sets.

although they changed in v4 n v5, are there any difference betwwen those pedals? I.e more resistance on the brake or gas?

I don't know what has been changed between V4 and 5 since I only have owned a V2 and now a V4 after bringing back the V2 with issues.
Here on the forum I think we've only been able to conclude that people still have torsion springs until V3 and with V4 they changed to the compression type.
Also I don't have the means to tell you the amount of pressure needed to depress the V4 pedals.

Ops ! Maybe i didn't make it clear, I mean except the difference of springs between the old (v1,2,3) and new (v4,5). Are there more changes??

Maybe I didn't make myself clear either. We haven't figured out yet from what I have read what the differences are between the latest two versions. The only differences known were what I told previously plus some finishing improvements. For example the metal is bend nicer and more rounded with a higher quality powder coating/painting. Wheel feels more properly finished as well in certain areas.

I would love to know the all the differences with the wheel and pedals from V1 to V5. Shame people like me and others that just brought it and got shafted with crappy V1. Might be my last time i purchase TM products. I do feel like i just wasted $700 on a flawed piece of crap.

The prices on that page are from one North American country and there are 5 European countries. So it's not only for the US.

Also doing his homework is impossible unless he does illegal stuff to recover your location (like hacking into the GTP database to figure out from which IP-address you last logged in). Besides your first post didn't mention your location and your profile still doesn't, so it's kinda hard to figure out where you live. Hence he gave the page on which a lot of prices are put together from a few different countries. Unfortunately not Canada.

Also I have to defend Thrustmaster a bit I think. The T500 might have a design flaw with the pedals (and maybe a few more), but that doesn't make it a piece of crap that you bought. Unless had severe and/or multiple issues within just a few months or even weeks after you bought it.

Who you calling a Troll. (some people). I brought mine in a combo with the shifter in Canada and cost me $660. Plus the link dont show anywhere that sells for $400, the link for $400 shows $599 . so you might want to check your homework before posting a link. Some people pay $1200 up for this wheel. http://simparts.co.nz/index.php?mac...age=61&cntnt01productid=48&cntnt01returnid=61

But thanks for asking

you didnt say CAD, you said $. sorry but that is USD to everyone on the planet. besides, this wheel is hardly a piece of crap as you put it.

calling you a troll. 1 post on these forums yet you haven't even had any issues with it so far , so what are you whining and complaining about?

FYI, I have a V1 and my spring broke. I don't thinks it's a big deal, i called thrustmaster and they are sending me a replacement. ofc i wish the springs were a bit more reliable; however to put things in perspective it's a small problem and an easy fix. hardly making this a crap wheel. it's not like the motors are fried.

I agree with some other posters that it would be nice to have a clearer idea of what are the differences between the different versions. however being an early adopter i am fully aware that the product will improve over it's life cycle and that i paid a price premium. this is true of any electronic device (Xbox, PS3 etc...) there is nothing out of the ordinary about this.

do us all a favor, sell/return your T500rs, get a DFGT and go troll elsewhere :p

PS: Maybe rating The T500RS as crap was over reacting (that just how i feel for having issues with a high price wheel.) as other on here with V1 wheel seems to be pissed off too.

I have a V3 and I have compression springs :)

seems strange that we have differnet pedals tho?

The pedals have their separate version numbers. So the wheel has one, the rim has one and the pedal set has one. Maybe they kinda mix and match? Dunno.

Or maybe it is like Thrustmaster said via their CS. The version numbers are just an indication for the different firmware versions. However having a higher version number and thus later produced wheel means you have a higher chance of getting a more refined wheel because it was made at a later date. So it doesn't have to be an indicator for the changes in design directly, but it can be an indirect indicator through pre-installed firmware versions.

Guys finally I bought the T500 but I felt the clutch and gas are crappy! anyone did a spring mod for the pedal set?

And finally came my turn :)
After a year and seven months (average of 4-5 hours of driving time daily) yesterday I broke two springs :( one of the throttle and one of the brakes.
Instantly I contacted Thrustmaster Support and they asked for pictures and bill (perhaps a guarantee), now must wait to see how it would solve the problem once and for how long :)
Just in case I found a man who is able to make a spring for a few bucks :)

P.S.
I broke the switch in left shift padle some time ago but still in operation just does not have sound.

I also had this, I cleaned off all of the **** grease and put on some high quality white lithium grease.

That sucks that you just bought this combo and they stick you with the old version. Is there anyway you could return it? I am looking at going with this wheel, but would make sure I find the V4 or V5 as I play quite a bit. Those fanatacs look better and better the more I read about the T500Rs. :sly:

Resolved problem with springs
I exchanged a few email with Thrustmaster Support and in one day resolve the problem 👍
Here is last email from Thrustmaster Support:

"...We would like to inform you that the order was placed to send you new springs under warranty.

Here is the order number: xxxxxxxxxxxx

Thank you for your collaboration.

Feel free to contact us for any other information."

I hope if I still have any problem to be resolved in this way again express
Now it's just a matter of days when the package will arrive at my address ;)

Hi Guys. That's what happens with my gas pedal.

Could you please give me their email because for some reason. I cannot register my wheel.

Thanks in advance

Edit : I manged to register

You have a spiking potentiometer in your gas pedal, just had this happen to me this week with my pedals but on the brake pedal it's out of warranty so I took it upon myself to fix it, Works great now!
