Maybe it's age. Maybe it's boredom. Perhaps a bit of both, but recently I find myself thinking of the past more and more.

Last month, I was curious how long I'd been a member here. Turned out it was exactly 2,500 days.

Today, similarly ironically, is my 8 year anniversary of joining the GTPlanet staff.

That sent me down the path of reminiscing what all has transpired in my time here. While far from inclusive, here are screenshots of what GTPlanet looked like at various events during the time you all have allowed me to stay here.* Note - some dates are approximate.

While not part of my timeline, this is the Oldest GTPlanet Capture on archive.org - December 24, 2002



Thing 1 born - April 2, 2004



The day I signed up - August 8, 2004



Thing 2 born - December 16, 2005



10th wedding anniversary - January 17, 2009



Joined the staff - November 21, 2010

I thank all of you so much for making this place so much fun to keep so many of us coming back year after year. @Jordan - you really have created something damn special here and I'm proud to be even the tiniest little part of it.

* Short of marriage, GTPlanet is the longest I've ever been involved with something that doesn't need to be done to survive. Although at this point that's debatable.

And looking through those screenshots certain brought back memories. It's amazing how much GTP has grown over the years.
 
I remember the firs time I bumped into you on the forums. It was quite a while ago when
Nicksfix started up a "Guess that song" thread. I don't even know if that is ever around anymore.

Your modship here at GTP is similar length to my entire membership.

My membership here is almost as old as my relationship with my wife.
 
Thank you for that amazing tribute, @TB.

It's guys like you that keep our community humming along. I'm in touch with other administrators who run large forums, and they continue to be impressed by the strength of our core membership on GTP. We really do have something special here, and I am careful to never take that for granted.

There are also some really cool new features coming to our forums over the next few months... so the best times are still to come.

Indeed! Exactly how I feel although my part is a lot more tinier.

Ooo, time for a thread, GTplanet update speculation, have no idea where that would live :).

The update I’m most looking forward to is the button you press to have a coffee made - little steps little steps.

You’ll be waiting a while. I’m still waiting on a Super Member badge I asked for several years ago. Still hasn’t materialised.
 
Great thread @TB. I'm nowhere near as old-school as a lof of the people around here but I've been around this forums for over 11 years (during the first 3 was only a reader because I didn't have enough confidence to write in english but then during Christmas 2010 I decided to make my first post ^^).

Also, looking forward to the new forum features!

And I gotta get my Premium membership again soon. :gtpflag:
 
It's interesting looking back to the very beginnings of GTPlanet and seeing how it has evolved over time. Nice one @TB. 👍

Having been here now for over a year (four if you include the three years as an observer), what's clear to see is that this is a collection of like-minded characters that together make for a strong community.

You've really got something good going on here @Jordan. :cheers:

It's also worth noting that due to Archive.org not caching all of the stylesheets, some of those screenshots in TB's posts (the ugly ones :sly:) aren't entirely accurate.
