I forget I even have this thing. I'm pretty indifferent to them. But it seemed like a good idea at the time.

It's on my abdomen.

My wife has a multi-colored melting ankh on her left shoulder blade that I designed for her. Wanted to get something of my own at some point, just haven't yet.

Why do you have to say that?I have have 2 celtic designs and it took me 8 years to talk myself into getting my first,I got them because of my heritage my family comes from scotland and ireland .And i'm not a dirty person ,just because alot of people who are dirty and are problems to society have them dont mean all people with them are dirty. And i think a few are fine but people do go overboard with them i agree with that.

I think tattoos are pretty cool, but I change my mind about things way too often to think about something that permanent. If I was rich and never had to worry about money or a job (or the cost of plastic surgery to get them removed or changed when I get sick of them), I'd get sleeves. (EDIT: like the picture below, except with different designs..I hate all the skulls etc)

Ethix, do you know how bad it hurts to get a tat removed? They use lasers to remove it, and I have heard it hurts as much as being shot. I've never had a tatoo before so I dont know what it feels like it to be removed. But, I have been shot before(right shoulder, 9mm) and trust me, you don't want to know what it feels like :/

No, he said it was like being shot. I said it hurt more then getting one. That's a pretty big margin of pain..

Sorry to bring back this extremely old thread, but i was talking with my parents and, i was thinking of getting a tattoo for my 16th birthday.my mom thinks its cool and would get a small one too if it werent for my dad, who thinks they're rubbish.i'm only 15 right now, so i have plenty of time to consider what kind i will get, but it will be meaningful(maybe subtlely relating to my bro, who has had a rough life).
My question, gtplanet, is at what age do u think it is appropriate to get a tattoo?

Before changing my look, recently, I was the type that looked like he had tons of tattoos. I didn't, and don't, have a single one. Nor, do I want one. People who get one, think they're cool. I think they're a stupid trend follower. So, don't get one.

i completely understand what you're saying, and, to an extent, i agree.I don't like people who get tattoos just to be cool or look tough. The reason I was going to get one is because my parents are really strict and and they expect me to be perfect and I cant really be the way I want to be because it embarrasses them.So i thought i would get a tattoo as my way of defining myself as an individual(this may sound like a cheesy load of crap to some people, but its the truth).

Tatooes I like are ones that are cultural. For example, Japanese Yakuza tatooes are incredible works of art with thousands of years of history and tradition behind them for which wearers must endure many years of work and pain and financial commitment.

Tatooes I can't stand are the little Chinese characters that people get like; dragon, power etc. They're just silly, especially ones that are written in a standard typeface. The other tatooes I can't bear are those 'Celtic' designs that people only get because they're fashionable. Why do people always get them on their lower back too?

I guess everyone is entitled to their own taste and if you want a tatoo, then get one, but I'm sure 90% of people end up regretting it later in life.

The most ridiculous tatoo is the one that Mike Tyson got on his face. His reasoning for it being that it was a traditional African tribal tatoo. Yeah, about as African as kangaroos!

Just by chance, I just saw a news special about tattoo ink being very toxic to the human body. I'm not just saying this; this is the truth. It seems a bunch of lawyers, uh oh, have decided that tattoo ink is very deadly, and the makers of it ignore Prop. 65. Prop. 65 makes for all the products that can be deadly or toxic to humans to have a warning sticker, or other warning saying exactly what the threat is. For example, all lead fishing lure sinkers must have an individual warning, and the warning must say something to the effect of, "This is a lead product, or a product that contains a toxic level of lead, yarda...yarda...yarda... Lead has been known to cause...yarda...yarda...yarda..."

So, some phony orginization, started by a bunch of lawyers, no doubt, that nobody has heard of before, is suing the makers of the tattoo ink. And people wonder why big businesses are leaving California.

Boost Lee, I've always wanted flames on my arms, and somehow had a rotary on me.....You have just gave me an awesome idea! Got anymore pics in normal colour?

MY TATTOOS

I've always wanted a tattoo, but most work places make you cover them up. Since I would want one on my lower arm, I would have to wear long sleeves all the time. Plus who knows if I would want it when I was older.

I used to have my ear peirced by I out grew that once I got outta high school. At least that was cheap to get rid of...well ok it was free.
