TCV5 HURRY THE HELL UP thread

Nope. I have the same car in black & silver. Not a bad ride with the full 500hp if the handling is up there aswell. 👍

Your car however with the extreme suspension made me feel like I rode the titanic and barely survived. :P

RJ....supercar still at 0%. Got too tired last night trying to do amartya's Evo 5 and went to bed. All day today I've been trying to kill off my wife's fever (it's still around 39.0*C) but I'm getting into it tonight as I've got no other plans this weekend.

Scroll back a page or so PF, she was 40.3* the other day. And it made me feel like a wreck most of the past week because I ran around like a headless chook.

Thankfully she's moving around now, not bedridden so that's good news to me. :)

Wasn't expecting my Viper to do as good as it did. Both mafs and PB seemed to like it too.

Parnelli - You are right on about the early braking on my cars. 👍

I prefer the slow in fast out driving style. For most cars at most tracks, I do 90%+ of my braking before I even reach the corner, get the car rotating through the corner, and I am usually 100% throttle again at the apex. :dopey:

Yea, I agree that it's okay for sport driving & racing the sim cars, but during this contest, that's one of the main things that kept losing points again and again. Agh!

It wasn't that with adam's car, I braked at the right times, I just couldn't get the corner speed in some areas that you were. But I was quicker with KoW's Spec-C. :P

It's so interesting when we all don't come to the same conclusion. :)

That's why we have four judges bro. 👍 Four different opinions provides a more rounded review of the cars overall. It's like having Clarkson, Hammond & May together...they RARELY agree on the best car.

Watching some Tokyo Drift to get myself in the mood for more testing...if I don't fall asleep again that is. :embarrassed:

We have another DISQUALIFICATION!!!

amartya, you have given us an incorrect spec sheet and your WPR is WELL UNDER THE LIMIT!! You are DQ'ed from TCv5.

Amartya's Evo 5 specs:

Cars TRUE power: 479hp
Cars Weight: 1161kg (including 5kg of ballast)
WPR: 2.424! :irked:

So judges, knock one off your list. I'm being super anal on this category....and this is the result of that. I'm glad I didn't get to build the car the other night...I was too tired.

Good to see some more scores up.

PB's review of my car was amazingly good and also described everything that I knew the car would do perfectly. I think the quote "As it is, this cat feels more like a lazy lion which hunts half-heartedly, instead of an agile, stealthy jaguar" sums at the car as it was always designed to be an endurance racer and not tax the driver too much.

PB I noticed that your review was quite positive although the end score was quite low which had be perplexed slightly but there is some tough competition in these TC's so I'm not worried.

I believe both judges remarked that it needed more power and to be lighter as well but all I did was bring the endurance car over into TCv5. That said Im glad you seemed to like it Maf's

Big thanks once again to the judges.

Judges, do accept my apologies for the misleading info on my tune, i assure you that i shall triple check my tunes from here-on in...

Amartya

Apology accepted. :) I understand with yours where mistakes could happen because it was a middleweight tune originally then changed for supercar rules so you may have missed things (unlike the other DQ'ed ride).

No driving for Mafs!! tonight, I'm a little bit inebriated. :embarrassed::P:sly:

Must watch what I say tonight. :D

Coool glad you liked the writeup. 👍 I'll try and narrow down my scoring now.

For speed, I compared all the cars against one another with absolute top speed & best lap. Yours was about 6 mph slower down the longest straight and something like 3 or 4 seconds slower than the BMW around the track. So that's alot of down points right there. I also removed a point cuz there was an area or 2 where the Jag required "awkward" shifts which could have been avoided with further tuning.

If you take a car which lets you get around a track with smooth gearshifts all the way around, and compare it to one which makes you work harder for results, the one which has a better-tuned tranny usually has a better advantage.

For handling, the Jag had the 2nd-worst brakes (comapred to Viper), but it also has slower steering and other negative traits, which (again) could have been reduced with further tuning. Believe me, if you had installed any sort of LSD on that Jag, I woulda had to kill it. :indiff:

For Versatility...again, it's got bad brakes. Too heavy. Etc. Made me work hard for less results.

Improvement over stock is well-expained.

Kyle/RJ, I retested your Charger shifting gears later (deep in redline, at about 5,500-5,700 as you suggested), and also used 2nd gear out of Motegi East's 4 tightest turns. Results were nowhere near the 1:26.431 I got using my method. Matter of fact, it was almost a second slower at 1:27.410.

I doubt you want me to deduct points, so I'm going by the original test.

Hmm, I know the difference is basically NOT THERE at the drag strip between shifting at redline and shifting at higher RPM but higher RPM is a tiiny bit quicker overall. Must be that while for me using 3rd out of corners feels wrong and unresponsive it's the quick way for you.

Thanks for the retest anyway mate.

Anybody alive here? lol. Just started SUPERCAR last nite. If all goes well in my personal life, should have it all done by late next week, however, I may take an additional week for scoring and stuff, because there ALOT of cars to compare. How's everyone else coming along?

I've been doing judging the past couple of nights, two cars per night. But I've come on because there is a small problem with today's first car and I'd rather get to it before anything happens.

RJ with your STi-511, you should actually rename it. To the STi-494. ;)
You forgot the oil change. :D

I'll be kind and put it in there for judging (but it IS 518hp and you can bite me with the ps/hp thing! :sly: ), but this is why I'm being anal and taking my time with each category, I want zero mistakes from my part.

SUPERCAR is looking like it'll be quite a showdown with all those Astons, Jags, Aussie cars, as well as the STi and Beemer. It seems more tuners have put their cars on the same rank (so far as power/weight ratios go, as well as wings). so far I've only driven VTiRoj's Beemer.

I wish I had an entire summer off like my 14 y/o nephew does, so I could jsut lock myself in my room and drive all these cars in like 3 days or something. I resent have to work almost every friggin' day. It means I can realistically only get a car per day done (if that).

Tell me about it bro, I'm running around trying to get work in my new town, take the boy to pre-school, deal with sick wife, blah blah blah.

I'm lucky I don't have much on the plate today (wife to doctors and now she's nagging at getting another cupboard! ) so I should be close to wrapping it up tonight.

I'll send a PM re: Times to expect. ;)

Question for ABud...are you sure you want your car to be called an "Auston"? Or is that a typo in your specs/description page.
