Well since hotboi didn't post any NTSC replays or splits I may as well. Maybe someone can learn something off this crap đź’ˇ

wow, and this is for a spot on the team. :cheers: to jmgyro. remarkable that you posted your runs here... i should do the same when i get a good lap.

:bowdown: :bowdown: :bowdown:

Thought I would try this out:

2'10.597 (skyline)
1'59.083 (mercedes)

Casio
Has anyone else had the problem of the best-lap ghost not saving your fastest lap with the Skyline Combo. This has happened to me 4/5 times and is getting really frustrating.

That's very interesting! I had the same problem at GVE during the VR6 week and at ARMini as well...

I've gotta test out Jmgyro's suggestion as it kinda makes sense (game gets faked out by thinking you're pitting).

Interesting...

Yes, I didn't know this! Only had the game about a year :lol:. Now I think about it, I have sometimes been crossing into the 'zebra crossing' part just after the S/F line to try to get a better line into the hairpin. Guess that's a no-no now....

My not so worthy splits.

race 1 - 2.06.225
race 2 - 1.53.907

no idea how people are going so fast on the first combo. I can see 2.05.5 max! I tried to take a peek at both holl01's replays, but the race 1 one has gone crazy and will half load then say replay loading failed. i cant delete it either...so i guess im doomed to not seeing how to do the first race lol. I might try downloading it again and see if i get another faulty replay that i cant delete... On the plus side i could view race 2, which i enjoyed much more than the other race. I just cant handle normal tyres i guess...Now off to the nurb...

Times updated, but post the in red bold characters please. Or else they stay unnoticed.

i was terrified by my crappyness in the skyline combo, but slowly i´m getting out of the hole. still can´t get the car straight in all my corner exits... the combo is not hard... slow car, good track, the only thing that bothers is keeping the car on a straight line while accelerating... never thought i would say that, but damn 4WD!!!👍 the LSD (standard, its definetely something in the tranny that slows the car down) kicks in and does not allow you to drift sucessfully... if only i was in GTmode...:sly:

still, warming up for the nurb:

2´05´207

Don't think you should be drifting much at all in the Skyline. I just keep it in 3rd gear for all the turns except the very slow u-turn before T1 and just drive it clean mostly.

Also I need some verification on the rules for Grand Valley. I remember when we raced it the cement curbs were legal, I think, (the ones right after turn 1 on your left) but are the bigger curbs after T1 on your left legal?

If so I have a faster time

42.146 (41.8~)
1.21.103
2.03.725

If its legal I'll post a replay tonight and put it in bold red letters (omg)

Well, here's what the rules say at the start of this thread:
Standard clean OLR rules :
  • 2 wheels on track at all time ;
  • rumble strips are part of the track ;
  • tarmac, concrete, cobblestones are part of the track ;
  • grass, sand, dirt are not part of the track ;
So it seems to me that ANY concrete surface is legal, as long as you don't have to get all 4 wheels on grass, sand, or dirt to get there... I posted earlier that I'm getting all 4 wheels behind the rumble strip, on the concrete back there, on the second turn after the tunnel, and no one objected... So I'm assuming it's legal...

True but that's not the same surface as what I'm talking about. And sometimes the GTP rules are touchy for the area I'm talking about, ie the stuff on the left before T1 on Deep Forest Raceway where you get a better line into the turn.

I don't like much the rule that allows to shortcut some turns by riding the concrete slabs (like on Deep Forest before T1 as you mention), become it doesn't look realistic at all. So I'm usually forbidding this in the WRS, except for the Ring.
Yet, some of the boards (GTRP for instance) allow that, and I guess that it'll be allowed for BC too. So it's allowed for our Qualifier : you can ride the rumble strip, cobblestones and concrete areas as much as you want. Just stay away from the walls.

Board updated.
I'll have a go at it while I still can be in the top 20 ;)

Edit :times posted below updated in the board too.

Righty-O...gave it about 2-3 hours and this is what I've got so far:

Nissan @ Grand Valley = 2'05.668
Mercedes @ Suzuka = 1'54.650
Total = 4'00.318

I can see 0.4 in the Nissan lap and 0.2 in the Mercedes lap...sadly I don't think it'll be enough...but you just never know...stranger things have happened???

Flat-out

Sorted 👍

[*]tarmac, concrete, cobblestones are part of the track ;
Excellent, i didnt realise that. Maybe thats how im loosing so much time :p

@small_fryz - youve added up my time wrong, the total time should be 1 second faster. :cheers:

Corrected.
It looks like cracking the 4'00 barrier will be required to run for GTP this time.

Race 1: : (Thanks for the concrete clarification... Would've had to chuck this lap due to going off the rumbles on the exit curbing)

42.703
1'22.445
2'06.011

Haven't tried Race 2 yet...

Nice times hotboi

Hopefully that replay works, I thought I was way behind at T2 on Race 1. Don't know how I lost all that time .350 on the final split.

I was trying it again til I got interrupted but it seems incredibly easier now, was getting all my times in the high 2.03.

41.900
1.20.843
crash

then 41.753 and crash :dunce:

You know what...I don't care if I don't make the team...damn we have some fast drivers :crazy: this is GTPlanet's year, we MUST crush the other boards 👍

1'53.379 - Mercedes

2'05.072 - Nissan

having a lot of trouble hooking the nissan up, should be another 0.4-0.5 left in it for me though...

I tried some more on Race2 but I always do real good then have 1 bad turn. Becomes no fun after a while so probably won't do anymore.

jmgyro -- I downloaded your replays. You make it look easy to go that fast!

The question I have is, what gear-ratios are you using in the two different cars?

*edit* Just noticed that HotBoi has some slightly faster replays uploaded. So I ask the same question of you also -- what gear-ratios are you using for the two cars?

Thanks,

You can't change the Skyline's top speed setting but the Mercedes I used 280km/h, looks the same for hotboi's, just Suzuka is one of my worst tracks.

Race 1

41.793
1.20.822
2.03.264

I choked and lost a tenth in the first tunnel because I had a similar overall time that was barely dirty

in the 2nd tunnel I hit the right curb and it shot me over to the left side so I had to brake to a way low speed :yuck:

Maybe 2.02.8 or so possible but I'm not that good or crazy enough.
