Technique for beating those Samba buses.

Got gold after like 30 times, the AI is dirty and there is some annoying stuff like bad place that disqualify but the CPU doesnt get disqualify and block you etc. Once you know all the cuts and how to do it, it's still annoying to do.
 
i was overtaking for 1st on the final lap! and then i sortov of did a tom cruise and went a bit wide on gambon!!! after i got fustrated and gave my ps3 a little nap!
 
As you guys have said, the Samba bus one is a LOT easier than the Lotus one. I got into first before the end of the first lap on the bus one iirc. But the Lotus one is ridiculous. Does it have tires made out of plastic on the rear wheels or something? I cant believe that thats anywhere close to how an Elise is IRL
 
The Lotus challenge makes me regret buying my G27. I might have to do that one with the pad. I can't catch slides every 2 seconds. I'm not a drifter ;/
 
I got gold on this. Was fun doin it too. Those buses handled better then I thought.

I'm having issues on the one after it with the lotuses.
 
I raged so hard at this many times. But i eventually found that if you get to at least 8th place before hammerhead than your in good shape. I failed so many times on the 2nd to last corner, took it way to fast believe it or not.
 
I actually thought this wasn't too bad. I had gold on my 3rd run. First 2 I got DQ'd for a cone and for running into one of the other guys.

As the others said: Draft like hell and a little touching is ok, just don't ram them! Only a tiny bit of lift-off in baccarach, you can take a LOT of guys there...
 
Just managed it - had 1st by the first lap! It's all about being smooth and not really using the brakes. Also, a wide-in line helps on the first turn, lift to scrub speed, pass the first bus and away onto the straight.
 
I couldnt even get silver in manual but for the first time in the game i switched it to auto and got gold by 7 seconds :sly:... don't even ask me about the Lotus.:banghead:
 
Samba bus in gold, are you serious? I could barely get the bronze one and I'm using a G27 wheel too. Its like almost impossible to get 1st, so frustrating!
 
I dropped back from the pack and didn't brake as much in the turns and passed them on the straights, The last 2 turns I just held my breath and hoped I didn't go too far in the grass and get DQ'd.
 
I just hate the fact that you cant hit them too hard, but they can rub and bump you. A few times the AI pushed me into the cones and got me a DQ. I got so annoyed with it in the end I left it and moved on to the AMG event
 
I got gold on second try (first time I got DQ for hitting the cone). I just brake very late with slight pressure (the thing is so heavy and slow it will brake itself), keep the car in 3rd and 4th the whole time and draft as much as you can.
If you use manual, you have to shift when the red light blink, otherwise you lose RPM.

I've only got Bronze on the bus, still haven't even managed to finish the Lotus one. They have Comfort: Hard tires on the Lotus, which explains why it's like driving on ice. Somehow the AI can drive it perfectly but I can barely keep it on the track, and I'm a decent driver with a G27.

The bus one just annoys me because it takes forever, and the Lotus annoys me because it's so hard to drive. They're definitely the two hardest things I've found so far.
 
I find silver very easy, but gold to be kinda challenging. I almost got it but I got stuck on my opponent going to the final corner. The Lotus challenge is FAR harder. I shutter to think what is after that.
 
Dunno if this has been mentioned, but the 2nd last corner is the key go in HARD and do not touch the brakes until you are through the corner(to stop you from sliding off the right side) and get on them hard, if you are on your game for the rest of the race you should be in a position passing the last van will be plausible through the last corner.

All you have to do is let go of the gas and kind of drift around the corners.

I was 2nd after the first lap right on the 1st guy's rear bumper

Won by a landslide.

Just DON'T BRAKE!

This is really what you need to do, but indeed also make certain to stay behind the other car till you almost hit it to pick up speed quickly.
Not gold yet, but thought I might get a 10 times in a row DQ trophy. :)

Same here! Amg beginner sector 2 is TOUGH! :drool: I've tried it for ages and no matter how smooth I go I just can't find the extra second to get gold. If someone can gold that without driving aids my hat is off to you!
 
Gold with the buses Is quite easy out brake the field and overtake them In the braking zone then on the exit. It's the Lotus 1 after that I'm getting angry with.
Going for a fry up then I'll try again.
 
After the first few attempts, I was finally first in the last turn, but got too carried away and left the track. Next attempt I get in first at the beginning of lap 2, but didn't know what the driving line was on Hammerhead and took the wrong way. Eventually got gold though.

My advise is, for the first turn I would brake slightly just before the corner to shift the weight to the front and accelerate smoothly. On the second hand of the esses, brake earlier, accelerate smoothly and take the inside line, which will allow you to have a better exit speed. The first hand of the last corner brake just slightly, or else you'll spin. Regarding the AI, remember to leave them plenty of room and never stay directly behind them in a slow turn, or else you crash into them.
 
I did this after about 20 minutes without a wheel. You can pass 2 or three before chicago, just smash through the cones at the chicane near the start. Stick to the right hand side approaching hammerhead.

If you think this is hard, wait till you race the lotuses :nervous::nervous::nervous::nervous:
 
Yeah that's my problem, have come to the last corner twice in second place, the AI brake alot more than you think and you end up with two buses a bit shorter than usual.
 
Well what really frustrates me is the inability to go over, what, 50 miles per hour. ITS PAINSTAKINGLY SLOW! Then you feel like you're losing because you can't accelerate, when really they are having the same problem!
 
Came in second by 0.06 seconds in my 3rd attempt. It took me 10 more tries to gold it after that!! Drafting is your friend, and brake late and brake rarely! Finally came in first by more than 2.3 seconds.

I've heard a lot about this Lotus challenge (havent attempted it yet). Is it worth holding out to get gold in that challenge? I have been managing silver or gold using the controller on every challenge so far.

This...I gold' this 1st try. Now the Elise TG challenge, that's hard!
 
I finally got gold on this one, by over 2 seconds over 2nd place.
I didn't brake for the first corner and got right on the back bumper of the 11th place bus.

For the Chicago Complex, dive to the left side then quickly move to the right and right next to the DQ cones. By doing this, I managed to move up from 12th to 8th in one complex.

Next is Hammerhead: What I noticed is that getting by the 9th place bus (8th before you pass him) is extremely critical to a perfect Hammerhead corner. The reason for this is that the 8th and 7th place buses effectively block the track with their own battle and it usually ends up scrubbing off your speed when you bump them (or DQs you). I managed to pick up two spots through the Hammerhead and was on the tail of 5th for the Follow-through.

Until you reach the apex of Bacharach, DO NOT BRAKE! Brake once you pass the apex and you will pick up about a half to 3/4ths of a second with a daredevil stunt. I managed to move from 5th to 2nd from this corner till the first corner on lap 2 and I was 2 seconds back.

For the 2nd lap, its a lot easier, since you should be clear of all drivers but the 1st place Samba, and to get by him, brake as little as possible and remember the skills at Chicago, Hammerhead and Bacharach.
