Oh btw guys, if you use the original knob... don't tighten it too much. I can't get mine off anymore. Not even with stuff like WD40 :(
I just screw of the knob with a part of the lever (till the black part). Felt like I was holding a door handle and going "WTF... why me again?" with a blank stare.

Happened me also.......plus the metal part of the knob came loose ....not off just a bit of rotation in the metal part.....but the whole knob did come off eventually........too much brute force! have a really nice momo one ordered from ebay

Jabz, Please let me know how you manage to mount the shifter when it comes in. I'm like 2 seconds from buying the T500rs and shifter altogether. Good luck buddy!

If you drill 2 holes in the middle (40cm apart from current) of the gear mount you will be able to hard mount it fine.

This is what I'll most likely be doing.
 
Looking to buy this shifter for GT5 and RBR on the PC.

I have a modded G27 for the wheel, is it possible to add this to my wheel in GT5 or do you need the T500?

The TH8 only works with the T500RS on The Ps3 with GT5 As far as I know. It was spoke about in this thread. But will work with any wheel on Pc

A word of CAUTION - the mounting measurements given on Thrustmasters site are incorrect! According to Thrustmaster the mounting holes are in pairs 16mm and 40mm apart - PLEASE NOTE - they are not! The holes are actually 20mm and 50mm apart - I found this out today while mocking up my centre console.

Another tip - the installation diagram on the Thrustmaster site has been reduced in size so that it prints on A4 - if you blow it up on a photocopier using the 147% enlargement, the print comes out actual size - I used this to make a paper template.

Use a 6mm drill bit as the shifter is threaded to take M6 bolts, but be very careful with the length of the bolts or you can damage the shifter.

As someone else has stated the clamp can be rotated, also the shift gate can be rotated (I am mounting mine reversed).

The standard shift knob does not screw on very far, however I fitted mine in my car to see how it felt and when I refitted the knob to the TH8RS it screwed on a lot further, which I prefer as the unit is rather tall as standard. I found that a Ford shift knob gave a better feel and mounts about 1 to 1.5cm lower. I prefer the feel of the non-metallic Ford knob as it doesn't rub against my wedding ring like the standard one (left hand mount).

WTF! Thanks so much for letting me know, I was about to drill the holes ready for when it gets here, based off Thrustmasters specs. Lucky I checked here first. Now I'll just wait till it gets here. Damn had the drill charged and everything!
 
I see they are in stock again but my order has not shipped yet. I smell a Canadian conspiracy. :indiff:
 
can someone here kind enough to do a sequential test /video on the th8rs please. I want to compare the tension to the frex Shift +
everybody seems to do video on the H-Patern but not the sequential.

Update, The Momo gear Knob came this morning (amazed) only dispatched yesterday. Very nice for £10 of Ebay......Never used with all the fixings and boxed......Impressed. The extra weight feels much better ........Now for some racing
 
Hey guys, please excuse me before hand if this issue has been discussed earlier in this thread. the shifter works fine with GT5, but the clutch is not working at all. I can shift with out using it, and when I press it neutral does not engage like with the clutch in the g27. Is there something I need to do? thanks

(*) “Manual Clutch” is enabled as soon as you press the clutch pedal while driving (each time you shift gears with the TH8 RS, you must then press the clutch pedal at least 2/3 of the way down its physical range of travel).

(*) “Automatic Clutch” is enabled if you never press the clutch pedal while driving, or if you use the sequential paddle shifters on the T500 RS.

Hi there. OK, I've just created this video for you. Not sure if it's of any help since it's hard to show something that's tactile. Main difference between the Frex Shift+ is that it has a more mechanical feel whereas the TH8 RS is very smooth; very much like a sequential shift in a normal car, eg. say the Selespeed shifter in Alfas and BMW Steptronic auto shifter. The Shift+ has 2 stages in its movement, first, the push against the spring, then the push against the switch itself that produces the click sound. This means if you push lightly, there is a chance of a misshift. Once you are aware of it though, it's not an issue at all and part of the fun of the Shift+ is pushing it with some force and the clicking sound it rewards you with. However, if this clicking sound happened in a real passenger car, I'd send it back to the dealer.

The Sega arcade shifter on the left of the video has very positive shifting (not sure if that's the right term), ie. once you overcome the initial resistance, it will push itself to the end of its movement. This means, if it moves, it will shift. The other shifters' movement are all linear, ie. you can push them with linear force giving linear displacement.

My personal preference and I'm sure everyone will have different preferences, is from left to right in my video.

yeah , that SEGA one on the left looks and sound so much better, even more than Frex+ , I agree with you , best is on the left , second would be the frex.

someone here race the renault clio cup in SH GP and F430(paddle) and the clio shifter feel looks close to the frex+

I Just spent some time testing the New V2 interfaceone PCB.

I tested it with the SST Lightning, the Frex Controller interface and the TH8RS in H Mode. All worked great.

Then I swapped the plate on the TH8RS and put it into sequential mode..

The addition of the switch on the pcb allows you to tell the interfaceone PCB that the TH8RS is now in sequential mode(don't forget to switch it back when you go back to H mode)!

It works great..



This is a gorgeous feeling shifter, not as fast as the SST (only because of the physics of the stick size and gate width etc.) but it feels so much more like a proper shifter. I might just have to have this on extended test ;)

What's this got to do with this thread. well with this interface you can now use this shifter on a fanatec wheel!

One thing if you could do me a favour please, does it work with Daytona USA via X360 or PS3? I know crazy to ask but been enjoying a go at that lately myself with a shifter like this it would be nice.

Look forward to FM4 and GT5 testing in the future.

Sorry latte I don't have that game.

The beauty of this interface is the fact that you don't need to modify your PC shifter, All the adapter does is read the USB codes from the shifter and convert them into the correct voltages and pin outs for the fanatec wheel's shifter input. (The fanatec H shifter is simply a couple of variable resistors on an X and Y axis that output various voltages depending on the gear you've selected.)

If the game works with the standard fanatec sequential shifter or H shifter. then the adapter will make the TH8RS, SSt Lightning, Frex work in conjunction with the fanatec.

I've tested with both GT5 and FM4 and it works great, No Issues.

Well the only Issue is this is interfaceone's TH8RS and I now want one :)

My shifter should be arriving today or tomorrow. Too bad I won't be able to use it for some time, due to my unhealthy Skyrim addiction :( :guilty:

Hey I don't know how you measured your's but mine arrived today and the mounting holes are the exact same specs Thrustmaster provide in the PDF.
They are 40cm apart, hole middle to hole middle that's how it's measured.
