The problem Volvo is having is that they're making sportier cars, but not going back to RWD. Having driven both FWD and RWD Volvos, I can tell you the RWD ones feel much better when cornering. They've made a step in the right direction with AWD, but they need to reverse it so that it's primarily RWD and AWD under slip.

very true. Current volvo's are understeer queens... But this is also due to the engineers wanting them to understeer. They think that understeer is more safe, so they tend to balance thier cars like so. A shame realy, coz there are some realy mean looking beasts out there eg s60 2.5T
