Knew someone would get it. I wonder if Randy is relieved at all now that there's a new bird killer.

It still blows my mind that that happened at all. What a wild coincidence.

Without going down the rabbit hole, I would be amazed if no cameras ever caught vision of bike versus bird at the home of the Australian MotoGP, Phillip Island circuit.
Some of the birds that flirt with an untimely end, are quiet large such as the Ibis a.k.a bin chicken.
Would not want to hit one of those suckers at any speed.

I've definitely seen footage of it. Don't know if there was a hi-res photo though.
Then there is the rabbit vs a car, as well.
And the occasional kangaroo vs car at Bathurst. Or this year's F1 car vs groundhog in Montreal.

Most motorcycle riders have had a bird encounter. Not usually at race pace but still.
About 2 years ago I took a raven to the dome. Hit my helmet visor and became unresponsive. I doubled back to pick it up and my mother in law made it into some dog food. Waste not want not.
It was a myna bird so I don’t know if it’s actually a crow, but I got plenty of them eating my cat’s food on a regular.

Stefan Johansson vs deer at what was at the time the Osterreichring (now Redbull Ring) in '87 springs to mind. Ripped off the whole lefthand side of his McLaren. He was okay, deer wasn't so much. I won't bother posting any pix, they are a little bit graphic as you can imagine.

Thankfully for Stefan, the left-front wheel struck the deer first. I recall the car was a write-off, as the 1977-87 circuit had either no runoff or too much of it in other spots. Either way, your car would look like a farming implement if you went off track.

Totally ballsy circuit the Oesterreichring thanks to the high speed corners, and the amount of time spent 100% throttle.
Add to that the beautiful scenery...

The modern A1 Ring has nothing in comparison other than the wider front straight which was desperately needed in the older version.
