The attacks have begun...

My thoughts fall under the same general consensus as most others here... Knock that man out of power as quickly as possible.

I just can't comprehend the anti-war sentiments... war is the only way that we can get Saddam out of power (and his sons), because he's one heck of a sly dog. And why wait any longer than now? You kill a weed while it's still small and manageable, not when it has taken over everything else.

I've read and participated in boards that discuss subjects like this for a few years, not very indepthly mind you. This is what I can glean so far. Saddam Hussein is defended, hopefully with reluctance, on the basis that it is believed that his rulership helps to keep the more religious fundamentalists down and unable to gain control. Apparantly the Majority Shi'ite population in Iraq is more akin to the likes of Osama Bin Laden than the ruling Sunnis. Saddam has also gotten some credit for modernization, such as improving education and allowing women in Iraq more freedoms than in other Arab states, though his reported abuses of human rights makes this supposed nicety less impressive than it could be.

A concern is that a majority Shi'ite government may be more repressive than the ruling Ba'ath party that is, I think, made primarily up of Sunnis. And There is the matter between Turkey, Kurds in Turkey, and Kurds in northern Iraq. My understanding there is that Turkey has an interest in oil fields in northern Iraq, and in stopping any revolts with the aim of independence by the Kurds in southern Turkey.

Sorry if it's simple, but that's about what I know. And I'm a bit tired.

I hope thats humurous because I find it patriotic and downright arrogant.

Apologies if I offend you.

I was mostly joking, but why should the US care if Belgium doesn't approve of the war? [Just using Belgium as an example]

Don't apologize if you offend me, that offends me.

Are you against patriotism?

When it's in the context of putting down the inhabitants of other countries and is blind, yes. Rampant and out of control patriotism is a dangerous thing and can be manipulated into evil things - Germany prior to WW2 is a sobering example.

Talking back to the WOMD, no one can really use a weapon responsibly
If you took responsibility, you won't use it now would you? Think about it
All weapons were created for one and only one thing: destruction
Almost certainly you would not waste a few million bucks so something can be put on display
There's a reason that these things are created, and inevitibly, i have a feeling that they are going to be fired. Thats just my opinion

then by all rights everyone should remove all WOMD and to have and agreement signed to never build such weapons again but our "beloved" politicians would probably find a way to weasle out of it

But without WOMD, how would such a treaty get enforced? Here's an idea, economic isolation might have an effect....

I support the war. We can nuke those towelhead bastards where it hurts and put up condiminiums over the whole country and sell them as timeshare. That would be an economy booster.

Umm...yes. You have no idea what you are talking about. None whatsoever.

I happen to have a good idea what I'm talking about, thank you. And I'm not racist, I just happen to not like the Iraqi people. One minute they're on our side, the next they're not. They make false claims and hide from the truth. They obviously have been taught false things. I'm not going to comment anymore because it seems I have no respect for my opinion. Just because you don't like it is no reason to deny that I have knowledge of the situation. I'm a human being and happen to be very mature for my age. But again, everyone has opinions...

Okay, what I said was harsh. I usually don't even say things like that. And I read through some other things on this at cnn.com and kinda started to realize I had been majorly harsh.

Sorry peoples. I made a mistake.
