Again, Aveo.
The sonic hatch looks better than the Fiesta and the Fit(I own one) and is about on par with the Mazda 2.

People won't buy it if it looks bad.

I believe the Camry would like a word with you... or the Corolla, or the Civic...

Admittedly our car buying tastes north of the 49th parallel trend towards one size smaller than the US, but I've seen roughly similar amounts of the Sonic already on the road as I do most of the other cars in its class. It's still outnumbered by the Yaris and Fit, but is almost comparable on a daily basis to the Fiesta and 2, which is pretty impressive.

Besides, like eSZee pointed out, the Aveo sold well despite being generally awful on all fronts other than price.

I give this car a year before it's pulled due to poor sales.

Too bad its sales run thus far has been quite strong, more so than what was originally anticipated. As of January, they had a 17 day turnover rate on dealer lots which is an incredibly fast sell rate (average is about 25-30 days). Given that they're built well (in Detroit I might add), can achieve 40 MPG, and drives like no other B-segment vehicle on the market today.

So, sorry to inform you that the Sonic will be around for quite a while. Considering how far ahead of the competition it is, it should be a strong-seller for quite some time.

Let's see, rising gas prices+increased fuel economy+increased quality+low starting price=poor sales? How long was the aveo around for how horrible of a car it was?
We've seen exactly the same over here in NL. Add emissions taxes on top, the fact that B-segment cars are a lot bigger than ten years ago (yes, you can transport a small family in them quite comfortably if you want), and the small cars easily outsell the larger ones.

Or the Prius, or the Auris, or ... 90% of people need a car to go from A to B, they couldn't care less about how a car looks.

and drives like no other B-segment vehicle on the market today.
I will assume you mean US market. Over here the competition in the B-segment is stiff, and the Chevrolet B-segment cars are rated mediocre at most. Then again, that doesn't stop people from buying them.

If I were to change something, I'd put the bowtie badge on the hood and the replace the tacky tacho and dials with the same 'ice blue' ones found in the Cruze.

Other than that it's a pretty nice subcompact, if it drives as well as the Fit then I'm sold.
