@Racin510s, while on the ps3, I have a DF pro, on the ps4 or even Grid autosport on the ps3 I use the Dualshock, and to git gud with the throttle and manual transmission, I use the R2/L2 for throttle/Braking, and X for shifting Up, and [] for Shifting Down. its the way I got used to be albe to race quite well and do it all.
The throttle modulation isn't the same as with a wheel, but it works well after a bit.

And a shout out to you all for racing for real. the most I got of that was going to a go-kart track a couple of times with friends. Did quite well always getting in the top times of the months, but with married life and starting adult life, can't save much money to invest on my dream hobby

@Lilium my youngest son and I raced methanol karts for several years. We still have them. The track we raced closed. There is another that we looked into, but they don't run methanol but use 87 octane pump gas. Our 5 horse Briggs and Stratton Flat heat engines were pushing over 10 HP. 70 mph on straights. I just bought some methanol to fire them up. May play in the big parking lot across the street.

I had to stop racing when the kids came along. Kids are much more expensive than racing. I had finally gotten a really nice tub to turn into a GT car but sold it so my children could have a nice Christmas.
@Pete05 that is awesome mate. They call that color Sicilian Olive. What year was yours? Mine in the Avatar is a 69 one year only model. They came to the US in 68 and it wa one year only model as well. The difference was the 68 had a thin marker light on the front and none on the rear, the 69 had from and rear. My race car was a 71 2 door, we did discover that the 4 door made a better race car. We had a prototype but never got to run it because the leader of our race team had to have a lung removed and could not be in the shop.
This interesting that you ran an autocross on dirt. I would have really liked that. All of our Autocrosses were on pavement. That's bad you didn't get to run again. I appreciate your kind words. I really like my 08 Suzuki SX4 AWD Touring Edition another one year only. But I'll never lose my love for the 510. It was the best car ever made.👍

Mine was a ‘71 model 4-door so a year younger than me. We only ever got the sedan & wagon here. No 2-door variants at all & they only came in ‘GL’ spec. We missed out on the SSS.
They arrived here in ‘68 & they’re easy to tell because they had wipers that mounted at the lower corners of the windscreen, as well as different grille & tailights. None ever had the rear repeater lights like in the U.S. They’re not a requirement here.

If you look up the 1982 Australian Rally Championship title winner, Geoff Portman, his car was an insane 1600 with registration plates IFK250. It had an L18 motor bored & stroked to 2.1 litres with twin 45mm Weber carburettors for about 190bhp, Option 1 5-speed gearbox & R180 LSD running 5.1 final gear ratio. Wheelspin in any gear you liked on gravel!
I was friends with the younger brother of the guy that owned it at the time, they nicknamed it ‘The Grunter’ & I can still hear it in my memory 32 years later.
My mate’s wasn’t quite up to that spec but, it wasn’t in showroom spec either. His was running an L18 with a cam, twin SU carbs, a Datsun 5-speed & welded diff centre that made it a bitch in the tight turns.
The 1600 is becoming a rarity & I don’t see too many on the road anymore. However, when I do they bring back a flood of memories.

Hey Mate, all that brings back a flood of memories. We imported an L18 SSS from Japan. There was a place that were importers

Sorry for the half message, I'm doing from my phone. The Rally car sounds awesome. Why did your mate weld up his diff? Was he drag racing? I bet it was ,bitch to turn:crazy:. I had a L20 that was .080 over bored stock crank, ground off center on the rods, special rods with 280ZX flat top pistons, whole bottom end balanced and blueprinted. A Canadian truck cyl head, it had bigger valves, that was flowed and cc'd(this is where the power is). Weber 38mm 2 barrel carb, heavy porting and grinding of stock intake, no water, a Nismo cam, non overdrive 5-speed from an early 200SX, 78 280 rear diff with 3.90 final, HEI ignition, NGK platinum plugs. 230 HP at the crank and 195 to the ground. Would run 133 mph due to aerodynamic wall, but 6 sec. 0-60. Cost me a lot in tickets:lol::lol:. Made a 328i BMW owner very embarrassed on the way home from work.:scared: Wish I could build that motor again and maybe find a '69 2 door that I could tub out, only one seat, Therapy. yeaaah:cheers:

Welding the diff so that both wheels turn at the same speed, was the poor man’s answer to not being able to afford an LSD. A helluva a lot better than playing traction lucky dip with the standard open, single spinner diff. The car had a hydraulic handbrake so that was used wherever possible to rotate the car in tight turns. Obviously driving on the road, discretion was always needed.

The L20 wasn’t as popular as the L18 bottom end over here, especially with the rally crowd. DATRALLY, that built the engine for the rally car, could build an L20 up to 2.4 but, they were definitely a more borderline thing. I can’t recall exactly what the issues were with it but most ran the L18 as a 2.1.

Your engine just points out again, how interchangeable the L series & Datsun parts in general really are.
Oh I agree, a therapy fund would be nice wouldn’t it

Sorry for being late, moving house.

@bjl23 courage my friend with the house work.
I move more than 10 times and i know what it is
I only learnt this week I'll be on the move again although I don't have a date yet.

I've lived here for over 9 years now, making this second on the list of addresses I've lived at the longest. Thankfully, I don't travel as 'heavy' as I used to but, because I'm living on a family friend's property at mate's rates, when I do finally move my rent will go up at least 250% for anything remotely suitable :ouch:
The thing I'm not looking forward to the most though? Being on the whim of Landlord's that will only offer a 1 year lease with no guarantee of an extension, meaning no real residential stability in the future.
