Basically this man has it right - if you're talking commercial burgers then In-N-Out is simply peerless. When I lived in sunny Cal I once drove a 1.5 hour round trip for a burger (okay, a burger and a double burger, but who's counting). Carl's Junior is also awesome, but a little messy.
But here in the green and pleasant land of England we don't got no In-N-Out or Carl's. We have of course been invaded by McMacs and BK, but this is still not a simple "who's best?" question.
For example; You are pissed (drunk) out of your head and stumblin home at 1.00am - you need a burger to stuff into your face until you can find a kebab house.....only Big Mac will do.
You need to bash a quick burger on the hop during work - the MacDonald's double cheeseburger for 99p is the best option.
Now, you may see a certain MacDonald's bias here, but the best burgers on the market do, in fact, come from BK. I'm talking about the Big King (especially the XL Big King), the BK bacon Double Cheese and the origional - The Double Whopper with Cheese. BK just makes better burgers cos they're flame grilled, although they are a bit more expensive.
Now, I've prefaced much of this by saying the best 'commercial burger' cos The Best Burger (with capitals) comes from my kitchen, or your kitchen or wherever. If you make them yourself, get some good processed cheese slices like the fast food places and some good pickles and junk then you can make stupidly huge burgers that are made from good meat, rather than eyeballs and testicals and rubbish like that. Also you can do stuff like lamb and mint burgers ("NOW THAT IS A TASTY BURGER") which are sweeeet.
Anyway, I'm probably scaring people with my burger obsession, so I'll sign off now, but remember.....hang on...what was my point?
Oh yea, IN-N-Out. If you ever see on, just go in and get a double burger (with cheese Obviously) and then you will know.
Here endeth the lesson.
Peace and cheeseburgers
