This damage is looking great! There are a few hiccups you can see with the grills, emblems, and headlight on the Ferrari 458 in the demo pictures, but I'm sure those will be fixed. This is the most advanced look we have seen thus far with damage. It's such a fragile subject, and I'm sure there is a much more advanced build in place already, just not something they want to show the public quite yet.

We need to see some more video footage!! And replay footage so we can see the damage from different angles.

Finally the damage has been turned up to a much more violent level although the damage on the 458 looks a bit over the top. Looks like GTA IV...

shh people dont complain now or Kaz will bring it back to a single hair scratches!

Visual damage pleases me, but I hope internal parts (engine brakes, springs, suspension arms, transmission have real damage characteristics) so to have that Ferrari looking like that you should not be able to drive it.

Yea if your car looked like that it would not be moving.

I'd love to see the videos of the smashed up 458's and lambo

Yeah, definitely, along with this pretty pleasing visual damage the only thing left is to implement some adequate mechanical damage system.
I really hope that in full game there will be a realistic mode where serious crash means you can only withdraw from race, but not crawl on totalled car around track forever =)

Now look here, the right headlight has moved way inward :)

Old damage build?

I'm sorry the damage just isn't realistic enough. The 458 needs moar flames!!!

:D

I'll wait until november 4th to make a full judgement. But for now, it looks like GTA IV.

I'll do so too!!! We all just should shut down our computers (and the GT5 area here in this forum) until beginning of Nov!... :sly:

I have seen already too much of news, pictures, videos... from today on I'll try to resist watching news stuff in this forum...(I will fail I am sure... :dopey:)

I am currently looking for amazon germany to offer GT5 Collectors Edition...didn't happen until today...but "patience is a virtue"...

Very old build. This cant be final damage coz its demo]

some of this damage looks a bit funky.

They look decent enough, but we all know that it's just an old build, which is used as a showcase for GT fans like us lol.

I'm still waiting to see the final damage build in a couple of weeks (TGS).

I severely doubt the damage here is an old build, to those above.

They're putting this demo out in stores for the general public, not the guys who attend conventions or press conferences, so that they can see what the full game is going to have to offer when it's released in a few months. They aren't going to show something like this then change it up that much, so I'm fairly certain this is close to the final build.

Maybe, maybe not, but this demo doesn't have the skidmarks seen at Gamescom and that was a fairly recent build of the game. Plus the wind effects on better dust and maybe smoke as well

Even if this was the final damage build, I am very happy with it. I meen this shows production cars damage and you all must say, that this is way more than we expected. I only can imagine, how racecars and especially nascars will suffer under crashes. I remember someone said, that nascars can be crahed into every single bolt ( or something like this).
Let's see what time will tell us, but for now, the damage to production cars looks insane:drool:
really love it:tup:👍👍

Race Drive Grid still does the best licensed damage, also the way the impact sounds and the cinematic effects all add to the realism or the impression of more dramatic damage... something GT should take a page from. So motion blur, camera saturation, crushing glass and crumpling metal sounds would all improve the damage without any extra physical modelling.

The problem with most damage in racing games is that the headlights stay perfectly positioned and undamaged even after huge crashes like that pic, I'm glad PD have done much better in that department (unless its limited to some premium cars which would suck).
