How do you guys, gals think this demo is being brought to these stores? Download over the network, physically brought in by disk or a all new kiosk being brought in?

Download. These demo builds have usually been downloaded from the network. No one actually physically carries a disc and installs it, otherwise they'd be shot and the disc would be stolen by a rabid GT fan.

Only 10 days? Very optimistic. So you believe everything will be revealed at TGS?

I love the current damage. The only things that concern me a bit are the intact windshield and the head lights.

How can you say that when the game still has fake collision physics.

I'm not happy. But again, I dont crash so it dosent matter. I never asked for damage. But hey its here. But these 1:35, 1:55, 3:22 could be better.

Well, what I think we are seeing is "excessive deformation", which I consider to be a GOOD thing... What we know, but haven't seen, is the bumpers falling off... We know that the bumper can hang off of either side, so we know that it is a dynamic, separate piece. We also know that the damage is "real-time", so it is calculated by impacts and the damage responds in a "proper" manner. We also know that the damage engine in the demos is not allowing the bumpers to fall off, so what I think is happening is that the bumper gets "too deformed"... what I mean by that is that with a certain amount of impacts, the bumper SHOULD fall off, and at that point, it would show a certain level of damage. The demo does not permit the bumper to fall off, so we see the full extent of the damage, so I think when we see the full damage, we will be even more impressed... One thing I would like to see is further bumper deformation when the bumper falls off the car (i.e. if you run over a bumper, it will become even more damaged, but I will be pleased if it at least moves around if someone hits it.

I didn't say anything about collision physics. I said I was satisfied with damage. But actually I'm satisfied with collision physics, too XD. For example, do you know that movement from police drivers to make fugitives spin? In GT4 and in GT5P that wasn't possible to do, now it is. It shows improvement.

There were scratches in previous builds of the game

It just shows that the damage model we're seeing at the Best Buy demos isn't a completed model.

If anything, it shows that there might be selectable levels of damage. What you see in the 458 is just scratches, aka damage that standard cars will most likely sustain. What it could also mean is that the damage levels in the best buy demos are accelerated. Instead of starting with scratches, something I wasn't really able to replicate when playing the demo, the smallest hit produces dangling bumpers and dents. Just ideas.

No, that would be too obvious, chances are if you used that he brings out his Luger.

I doubt he carries a Luger, most likely a type 14 Nambu, or a pocket sized, spring loaded katana.

Now there are GT5 demos at Targets? Looks like its confirmed that these demos are now in many stores.

well then thats good. I guess I feel kinda cranky because I've been waiting years for GT5 for so long. Now I'm waiting weeks for it.

I have the GT5 desease.

No, no, no and no

If you race for longer events like the 12H Sebring, 24H Spa damage is an integral part of racing. You have to make decisions, repair or not, that's also real racing. Damage in not equal to DNF in all types of racing.

Agreed, but believe me, speaking to friends who race competitively and have raced 12rs and 24hrs at Sepang, Sebring, Spa and Nurburgring..... if you come unstuck, you kiss a result goodbye and many hrs of going lightning quick to "patch" the car up to return to the circuit. From then, you just circulate, not for glory, but to place.

As for damage being a part of endurance racing, i'd hate to think of the # of cars that have finished an event with just dirt and grime on the car.... not every car sees damage.

Speaking about the Best Buy demo, I went back to my local store to play the demo one more time and hopefully get more pictures but as soon as I loaded the "ring" and the Ferrari 458...I noticed that the Glitch of the disappearing track was GONE! and I also noticed that the damage system was not the same!....I tried replicating the damage obtained by myself a couple days ago but it was just impossible. It seems as if the demo was somehow updated and damage was "toned down" a little bit. Could this be possible? Maybe Kaz saw what we were doing to the cars and decided it was too much! and toned down the damage for now...any thoughts? I took the lambo pictures that you guys saw in the news page and now I tried but nothing>>> It wasn't possible to get it to look as bad as it did before

woah! interesting development!

Did you check the demo version? I think I saw a vid from the 2nd or 3d and the game info screen showed demo v1.0?

I wonder if we will see something similar at the other demos?

I do have to admit though, the way the AI in the Mustang peeled out to get himself facing the right way was pretty awesome. In fact, the AI seemed VERY eager to get back into the race. Every time he crashed, he didn't wait and slowly back up or anything. That's actually pretty cool, really. It's more like how a real person would do it. In fact, it did seem like you were racing with a human instead of an AI. pretty sweet!

I sure hope, however, that they get rid of the all the sparks. The race cars in the vids wouldn't spark no matter how hard you hit anything 'cause they're bodies are fiber glass, carbon fiber and plastic. The supercars like the 458 are mainly aluminum and carbon fiber to make the car lighter. I they wouldn't spark like that either. Having ALL the cars made of steel is a little rediculous. And even steel would spark that much.

I have three new videos from BB guys.

One of damage, one of in-cockpit GTR in Toscana, and another Toscana Citroen replay. This time I was able to get videos of gameplay since my gf went with me.

One question Jay....Were you at best buy today? Cause I have a feeling I saw you! :dunce: Were you wearing a gray sweater?

People who want to smash their cars and drool by their destruction should look for another type of game. GT is about careful racing and those who play by that rule will most likely not see much damage and spend much time looking at it. I'm not saying it's not important but looking at what GT is about, visual damage is a secondary thing and also a completely new thing to the series. Give PD a break and admire the full package which seems to be levels above most other racing sims.

I was skimming a few pages back and saw your post. You basically summed up how I feel about the game. Thought I should quote bump you. I remember seeing how horrible and unrealistic the damage was on Forza, then when I played the game, the damage issue rarely came up, either I raced perfect or was having to much fun to notice or care. I'd assume the fun factor will triumph over any flaws in the game.

Yup was with my gf. I was wearing a UnderArmour gray sweater. Were you the dude in the white? haha

I was the dude with the yellow shirt standing behind you waiting for my turn!!! hahaha that's awesome...it is a small world indeed 👍
EDIT: Just watched the video and I can confirm that I was there behind you lol ...i saw that happening with the car going on top of the other one and was like "WOW"...also, would you agree with me that it seemed as if the damage was toned down a little bit more from the other time? Cause I couldn't get the ferrari absoultely destroyed :( Plus the "Ring" glitch had been fixed as well. Maybe they updated it or something?

Il say as usual, that since i dont plan on crashing into stuff i dont care about the damage, but so far my view on the damage is that its far from realistic, smashing a car into a wall at 100mph should do more than loosen the bumper.

lol My gf noticed you and she's like hurry up and I'm like one more race!!! haha

To tell you honestly I don't really care about this damage crap. I was having too much fun just racing especially Toscana. God that track is freaking amazing and the handling is superb. It's tough, but I like it that way. You just feel with GT even if it was a demo that it just oozes quality but people are gonna hate...

I'm thinking they did. I'm not really sure you know, usually when I ran head-on to a car the damage would be much more extensive but not this time. I'm thinking that they did tone it down... Damn, the BB people have control of the setting then somebody should tell them to put everything on max. haha

Yeah that's what I noticed too....BTW there's another playstation on the left (playing a Video) and I noticed that the ps3 had a CD in it! ...so I went there and pressed the eject button to see and there was a gray CD that said "not for sale....blah blah blah" I was wondering If maybe that Cd contained the GT5 demo!...but of course, I put it back and didn't steal it :dopey:
