Anyways, KY said that you aren't going to see the car ripped to shreds. But there will be damage like scrapes, doors ripped off, bumpers ripped off, and there will be engine damage. So thats whats known and there is more to come hopefully in future updates!!!

Yeah I am done too... I originally said that cars were not all supposed to have damage and race cars were the set that were, I have posted the link to the where KY himself said that at the time I did meaning my understanding of the translation matches with KY's. Server is obviously wrong but won't admit it and will keep making flawed assumption strings and you can't show someone they are wrong when they keep insisting thigns like seeing damage on one car means damage was always planned for all cars even if KY says otherwise.

Deve and server should get temp bans for being annoying.

Someone has been registered for 2 months calling for a temp ban for a 4 year veteran? I wouldn't pipe up so soon.

Look, they may have posted walls of text, but they were still civil (for the most part) I wouldn't be so quick to ask for a ban, especially since that violates the AUP as well...

Crap, forgot most people can't tell sarcasm on the internet. Next time i'll remember to put a "lol" or a silly emoticon in my text. Personally i felt the fact that banning someone for being annoying was silly enough that it wouldnt have been taken seriously

Unfortunately, without (like you said) an lol, or silly smiley, we can't tell sarcastic from serious because typing on a screen reveals absolutely zero emotion. Also, there are a lot of people that would make a comment like that whilst being completely serious, and it is very difficult to tell the difference between a post like that being serious and it being a joke.

There is no :skeptical: soI will just put a :odd:

Don't know if anyone has seen the " epic " crash montage?

But it doesn't look that impressive to me. The collision physics don't look great and there isn't much debris considering the speed of some of them.

I think the Scooby on the Gamescom demo looked just as smashed up to be honest.

I agree, nothing spectacular, however, I do like the collision sounds and the way the camera jerks you alittle bit so it feels like there was an actual impact.

Finally from the horse's mouth!👍:)
GB: Gran Turismo 5 will offer a new kind of damage…
KY: Right now we are adding a brand new real-time deformation engine that will process according to the speed and angle of impact. But doing this in real-time remains truly complex. We could make it an easier way with pre-damaged models but definitely we don’t want to make it that way.

I'm really glad they didn't rush it and released the game with pre-demaged models, because that would look really lame, since that kind of damage is like, so '04!;) Seriously, no one does that anymore, it's like comparing GTA3 damage(pre-damage and that was 5 years ago!) and GTA4(physics/realtime based-crashing into a pole, leaving a pole-shaped dent on a car for example hehe:))...
...and it's nice to see mister "I work my own way-never play other games" finally confessing that he does play other games and compares them to his own, which, you may be forgiven to think, judging by lack of some features in past GTs, could be a recent thing for him!(but better late than never eh?;))
GB: You seem to be more concerned about your competitors…
KY: To tell you the truth, when I’m interested in other games, it’s really difficult to not look at them with the creator’s eyes. I notice some details and I think to myself: “oh, they must have really hard worked on this point” or “hmm, they must have lacked time for this very aspect”. I can’t prevent myself from putting me in their place.

High speed crashes are very violent. If they want to make it realistic they should shake the camera and driver around more.

Mika Hakkinen's crash in Adelaide '95 shows you how the human head reacts when you crash 100mph+ head on into a wall...I won't post the video because it is kind of graphic to look at. You can youtube it though. I'll post this video instead

I will be sure to crash cars like the Ferrari Enzo in the game. Maybe a few collector's edition Lambos on purpose. There are already so few of them in the world and only the super rich can afford to crash them (accidental or purposefully), I want to experience how it feels to crash a limited production car as well. :)

I haven't gone through the whole thread looking for this particuliar video, so very sorry if it was posted already (probably is, i just haven'T seen it yet on here...).

Ferrari 458 with Damage: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wOd6o9Fv8TM&NR=1

Yeah, it's old, but I just noticed something funny in that vid. OK, everybody knows that those Jersey barriers are made of concrete right? In the vid they bounce and slide around like plastic building blocks(Legos). Hmmm...

That has been discussed already. They can be made of concrete but there are plastic ones. They are normally filled with water or sand but the ones in the game appear to be empty.

While there is admittedly not way to be sure, they really look concrete to me... You would think empty plastic ones would crush, and the cutouts and shapes along the sides really look like concrete. Not to mention the color and texture of the grey ones especially...

Theyre not made of concrete, plastic filled with water, they bounce too much in the game though.

you can't fill them with water when they have obvious ports on the bottom. I think those are concrete but their weight was reduced for the demo.
