Due to overwhelming response, what's your thoughts on the band that broke up and never needed to seek jobs again? (Well, the Lizard King didn't exactly go looking for one.)

Great movie, great music to relax too.... but dont think the band as a whole was all that talented.

Ultimately, despite their pretensions, they were a good singles band and nothing more. Morrison was too lazy and self-obsessed to last.

Ray Manzarek, on the other hand, was a solid songwriterand excellent producer. He went on to develop a number of influential LA bands such as X, and record albums for a lot of good musicians.

Robby Krieger is a talented but oddball and overlooked guitarist. He emerged from a cloud of bong smoke in the early 80s to release a ripping instrumental version of The Pretenders' Tattooed Love Boys in memorial to the death of James Honeyman-Scott. Other than that I never heard anything by him before or since.

Very atmospheric in nature. It is my opinion that their music has a place in my CD Player. I was always kinda set aside from them because they were lacking a Bass guitarist, but other than that, I think they did one hellavah good job considering they were either high or drunk (from what I've read and seen on documentaries).

All in all, their music will live on and not be forgotten which is much more than most bands can have claim to.

I always thought their endurance was due to a cult of personality built up around Jim Morrison and not really because of their music.

I think Apocalypse Now did wonders for their legacy, as well.

I happen to consider them a very revolutionary band and I listen to them quite often. But the band members themselves had some "problems."

the doors was a frickin good band. And I know they werent not as talented on the instumental side, but, there are few bands that really are. Besides, that wont make them a bad band, I think their music was revolutionary and that the odd things they got was because they were looking for something different after their crush-succes with break on trough, and stuff. I think theyre good and helped give rock a much needed face on the 60s and 70s.
