Hey everyone. So i have this crazy idea. I live maybe a half hour away from Bethesda Softworks, and within the next month or so i'm gonna go down and see if i can take some sort of tour. I've been to a couple software places before, the atmosphere generally feels laid-back. One place i used to go even had a keg of beer for its employees! Anything to foster a creative environment i guess. 💡
So my idea is to maybe go a couple times, and if i get into cahoots with anyone there, i'm gonna throw some ideas to him or her.

here's a few.
Get rid of orc pcs!--traditionally, orcs are considered EVIL beings. You shouldn't be able to walk around any "civilized" area playing an orc. D&D mostly had orcs as humanoids to be fought against (unless you were an extremely evil character yourself). Even half-orcs were sometimes shunned or not tolerated. There were some "good" orcs and half-orcs in traditional D&D, however, they were extremely rare.
Get rid of lizard men pcs!--same reasoning, they are generally supposed to be neutral evil humanoids if i remember correct..they had their own society seperate from humans, elves, etc. Everytime i have to talk to a lizard man or a cat-person, i roll my eyes.
Where are the dwarves, halflings, gnomes, and brownies? I've found plenty of dwarven weapons and armour, but have yet to see any of these races. We should be able to PLAY them right from the get-go, too, because these races often work together, go on adventures, and sometimes even build civilizations together with humans and elves.
Beards. Nothing says "axe warrior" like a big, bristly beard, right? Nothing says "sorcerer" like a long, flowing white beard. Same goes with goatees for theives. Silly looking moustaches for pirates. The "beard" option needs to go way beyond just a 5 o'clock shadow as portrayed by the game.
Climbing hills & scaling moutains. I realize this isn't "tomb raider" or some other such game where movement involves crouching, stumbling, and crawling. Maybe i dont have enough imagination or something, but when your character is climbing a super-steep area (and there are many of these in the game) they shouldn't be just walking on 2 feet! Not without the risk of falling, that is.
I have a feeling the folks over at Bethesda already are working on this to some capacity, as the next game will certainly be improved.
There should be some sort of romantic element to the game. This was actually my girlfriend's idea, and she's a huge fan of Sims games. While i don't agree with her fully (this aint Sims, i try & tell her) i have to admit she's got a point. It would be cool to find yourself with a lover in the game who can help you in some way. It would take the whole persuasion element a step further.
YOu should be able to hire a small party. At least one other person to help you along adventures. Whether they fight or just carry stuff would be up to the type of NPC you hire.
D&D needs to be consulted more often. I was curious by all the imps i keep having to deal with. I looked in one of my old 70s-era D&D books, and sure enough, the imp is found "very rarely". They appear one at a time, are summoned by an evil cleric, demon, or mage, and shouldn't be inhabiting entire dungeons, let alone out in the countryside.
I realize most of you younger players won't get where i'm coming from. We used to take the game seriously, so trying to get around what the books said could mean (sometimes) an hour-long discussion on how the game is actually played.
Overall, i'm pleased with the game. It's better than anything else out there so far as RPGs go...most "RPGs" have been disappointing, at least Elder Scrolls captures alot of the essence of the game it was based on (dungeon & dragons).
Anyways, that's my list so far. I'm not even sure i'll even pull this off, chances are i'll get to the Bethesda Softworks and won't be able to give any suggestions. I'll feel like somewhat of a doofus if i start suggesting things, for instance, and suddenly be escorted out of the building!

We'll see how it goes.
Any other ideas from other Oblivion players? Whadoya think? It's a kooky idea, right? Hell, i might do it, though!
