In terms of the referral to CBR; I hadn't realised that the wording you quoted came from the arbitration court. That said, it seems that Sauber have ignored that ruling up to now and I presume therefore that they'll continue to ignore it unless CBR say otherwise. How the Swiss courts feel about that apparently doesn't matter to Sauber right now, that's one of the reasons that I think Sauber will carry on regardless with the Nasr/Ericsson pairing once they leave Oz.
 
Not sure how you could conclude to that; but to make things clear I'm not in any way, shape or form happy with the situation.

By the way I just heard on the radio from a F1 reporter that the money VDG/his sponsors paid after signing the 2015 contract was used to pay the salary of the mechanics for the last months of 2014... This guy does everything to bring the jobs of 300 people in danger...
 
What an embarrassment by Sauber. I don't see any "non paid" driver wanting to have anything to do with them after this situation.

I still remember black Sauber C13 with Mercedes engine looking so good in 1994, Kimi's debut season in 2001, my compatriot making a podium at Monza in 2006 in only his third race and getting his (and team) only win in Canada in 2008 under Sauber BMW banner. Good memories. All that has left from that once great team. I don't think they'll survive to see another season. The whole executive management should be ashamed.

That seems unlikely to be true - if there was a financial amount outstanding then surely this case would have been much more simple?

I have no clue, is it possible to pay the money back and cancel the driving contract? I assume both parties have to agree with that? Also I don't know the amount of money, and if they have it at hand at the moment. Maybe paying it right now would bring the team in immediate problems

This is what I thought happened and if true makes sense why VDG wont just leave this alone and Sauber just can't give him his money back.

I don't know why I would be happy their contracts aren't honored. This situation is bad all around. I just know VDG had a contract first.
 
So VDG had a contract first, but it was terminated in February. Yet he still managed this. Meanwhile it appears that Nasr is solidly in on the fact that Banco Brasil is paying double what Ericsson or VDG paid and are paying per race. Ericsson paid up front and could be dropped in exchange for a settlement or possibly a 2016 seat? Why won't everyone just reveal what the contracts are.

I can't understand why when everyone not under a rock knows that they're worse off than Manor now.
 
So Ericsson also paid up front? And I heard Bernie also paid money in advance to keep them alive? Looks like they're pulling all the cash forward to keep things running, but the problems will only get bigger and bigger once that money's gone..

Because contracts like these usually have some kind of Non-Disclosure Agreement clauses in them.


Also, let's not forget about Sutil. 4 drivers, 2 seats, 1 fraudulent F1 team.

I don't know what it has to do with contract dispute between him and Sauber, but OK, I guess..

The Ericsson money reportedly kept the lights on at the factory for the winter and the Banco Brazil money has funded the team for this year-just enough to keep them out of the red but they have no money left to develop the car during the season.

Who said that, the greater details of the contract haven't been shared. If the money aspect is true and VdG didn't pay for his seat like he promised and still can't. Then why should Sauber honor their end of the deal? It's speculated (like much of this) that VdG is in debt among other things.

So we've got one team that may be the next Andrea Moda F1 that was around when that event happened. And another team that may go about like Mastercard Lola, this is some season opener.

If what you are saying is true about VdG not paying for his seat then I agree with you. It just seems strange to me that two courts have sided with him. It leads me to believe what others have been reporting that he already paid for his seat.

We don't know though, what the specifics of the contract were, so people aren't saying what you claim to think they are. Rather they don't agree with any driver trying to strong arm his way into something that could ruin the employment of so many others. While at the same time basically blowing up his career. Even with getting a seat and let's say he proves himself, no team will care. Drivers are a dime a dozen and if that there is a bad egg in that group no matter how good, then no one will take you in.

Yeah I agree his F1 career is over. Maybe he could try NASCAR trucks next, like Nelson Piquet jr.

He should have just gone to sports cars. I agree though if the team wronged him which it seems they did they are just as stupid as he is. In this case both parties seemed to have done things wrong but I can't say that cause we still don't know the contract details.
 
Kevin Eason is reporting a rumour that van der Garde's aggressive strategy is part of a wider plan to acquire a stake in the team. It's just a rumour at this point, but it makes sense given that van der Garde is trying to sue for breach of contract. If Sauber don't have the liquid assets needed to pay, then I suppose that the court could award him ownership over other assets.

But if that's the case, then I imagine that the FIA will kick them out on the spot. They didn't like it when Arrows tried to cannibalise Prost a decade ago, so I seriously doubt that they will like it now.
