That's a superficial statement... december 2006, Super Aguri announced van der Garde as reserve and test driver... he was always recognised as a big talent with potential for F1.... are those "suggestions" to be believed? - that is the question!
 
Personally, I have a fondness for referring to teams by whatever they raced as first (even if the continuity is only vague), giving us a 2015 grid of Tyrrell, Stewart, Williams, Ferrari, McLaren, Jordan, Minardi, Toleman, Manor (supposedly, at least; and they never were Virgin or Marussia), and Sauber; with Toyota and the bizarrely named 1Malaysia!!!!!!1111 and Hormone Replacement Therapy teams having competed and then left in the past few years.

If you told someone from 1997 that that would be the teams competing in 2015 it would probably seem strangely comforting.

This is true for any F1 driver, not only for van der Garde... Those guys with F1 experience are the real deal when you speak about racing drivers. They are the ones that felt the G forces in their necks during F1 races, unlike most of us here, the Sim players.
So, unless you are Fernando Alonso or Sebastian Vettel sort of champ, or former F1 driver to really understand what it takes to get there and stay there, any rude comments based on subjective personal opinion or media rumours or suggestions, are childish statements... no offence. In case you are former or actual F1 driver, or you had the chance to drive an F1 car on an F1 track at race pace, my hat off and respect for your input! If not... sorry... my respect goes to Guido!
I understand and accept serious opinions based on racing facts or character mishaps, but poor judgment regarding a proven racing driver level of performance ... hmmm ... Am I missing something? Are we discussing racing or hard feelings over a girl or something? Again... no offence intended...

Then your post of "Good riddance" should have pointed that out with ever so slightly more than TWO words what you meant them to mean rather than leaving it so open to interpretation.

What exactly has he done to you personally to deserve your "dislike"?

Or you could have read the recent discussions regarding VDG, in which case my overall opinion of him would have been abundantly clear.

Technically Tyrell and Toleman don't count as they changed their Headquarters Location when under BAR and Benetton.
 
Most probably he will look for a LMP2 seat. If he doesn't find it I guess the millions he got will be more than enough to create or become partner of a GT team. Aston, Ferrari, Porsche, Corvette? I suppose he'll be considered a "Gold" driver (not sure) so he'll have to compete in GTE Pro.

Then there's the Indycar scene, but he doesn't mention it so I guess that's not what he wants.

I can see him having a go in Formula E, with the new power unit regs for next season an it's first official year as a world championship - worth trying if nothing else.

He'd be classified as platinum without question, as Geido is a former super license holder and FR3.5 champion.

I don't think he should have much trouble finding a ride. I value his skill level about as much a Timo Glock and higher than many Porsche and Nissan LMP1 drivers. If he can quickly adapt to other disciplines during tests and accept a modest salary, he will be highly coveted. I imagine his personality might be more off-putting for potential employers than anything to do with his talent level.
 
Formula E would be a wise move then combine that with a solid WEC or Blancpain program.
 
You can put him up in the spare room then, and if you don't have one he can share your room. :lol:
 
There's little likelihood of Alonso falling out with McLaren like he did last time round... or is there? :)

He reports that it was a car failure that caused the crash and said that speculation about his health wasn't helped by statements from McLaren.

I had the podium one down to Pierluigi Martini (124 races, 119 starts). I'm now rather sad that his record has been taken away from him (Sutil; 128 races, 128 starts).
