The fail wheel T500rs , not the official wheel after buying.

It may feel right or the best for you but 1080 steering angle/degrees is 100% wrong for an F1 steering because its around 360-420 any higher is certainly slower and not F1 and 1080 is certainly never an F1.

I made a post on the CSR-E similar to this (although, I realize, this isn't rocket science) - but it ended up coming down to settings. Stock, similar to what kingcars mentioned, the FFB was extremely high, which actually made my movements more "jerky". Cars don't like that, smooth is key. Once I figured that out, its a great wheel. Now I just need to run it on some real sims, like iRacing or rFactor.

So, OP, try to find some settings that work for you. Turn the FFB down, not sure what other options you have, but the wheel is configurable. I mean, it's not rocket science.

To summarize: rocket science
:)

Why don't you try the arcade(or beginer not sure what is called) setting on the hardware menu in game? I know this setting on GT4 would go from the 900 degree setings of Simulation to arround 360-400 degrees in the arcade or beginer setting whatever it's called. It's worth a shot!

If Logitech has the correct steering compromise from DFGT and G27 then whats the problem with the new official t500 thrustmaster.
The problem is this games philosophy. To my conclusion this game is far from racing,so they adjust their highest products better suitable for "normal" driving? Its a educator,"Learn to Drive Safe".Hooligans can go :) -and look out these nice cars, wanna buy one?

BTW, I prefer my T500 over my Fanatec Elite wheel.

Hi there

Can you give me some reasons for such an opinion, please. I am about to choose between T500 and CSRE (both with CSP), upgrading from G27, which is pretty decent for gaming but not for simracing.

I read a lot of your opinions about T500 pedals over CSP, but never read why you prefer T500 more than CSRE

Thanx

Tom

I've never read that anybody prefers T500 pedals over CSP, especially not Left888 who uses CSP.

I own T500 pedals and CSP. Here is my opinion:

At the moment I wouldn't say that CSP are a class better than T500 pedals. But that may be only, because I am not yet taking full advantage of using a load cell brake. That may change with more experience.

However in GT5 it is easier to brake without ABS when using CSP. With the T500 pedals I often use ABS.

T500 pedals are often titled as crap. That is defenately NOT true. CSP are better, but at the moment I wouldn't go so far to say that they are a different league.

GT5 TT34 700PP Spa Event: Mahnegold's place: 314 with T500, no aids, ABS 1.
He has the chops to back up his opinion.

I personally did not like the T500RS pedals. I thought both the brake and clutch were very soft. The pedal plates themselves where oddly shaped. And finally even with the foam insert I just could not get a feel for the brakes.

Thank you for the praise Jogo. So far my highest ever ranking.

I am looking forward to see how the pedals feel, when using the clutch together with manual shifting. TH8 is already on my wishlist. I am still playing around with brake travel and resistance.

I have read this thread with interest and have some questions:

I have read that GT5 Prologue had a steering rack adjustment setting of some kind. If that is true, could Polyphony Digital add that into GT5 or GT6. I would prefer to adjust the speed of the steering rack via the car settings sheet than elsewhere so I can tune it specifically to suit the car.

Regarding the 900 degrees of rotation, my understanding is that although T500RS has up to 1080 that setting is only available via PC - when using GT5 it is 900, the same as the Logitech DFGT and G25/27.

I am considering treating myself to the F1 wheel add on for my T500RS - I only play GT5 on PS3 - would it make it easier to drive the single seaters i.e. Gran Turismo and X2010 / 2011. Does the wheels amount of rotation reduce when using the F1 rim?

Like G12 I have (sometimes) found it difficult to get enough steering movement in GT5 - almost all the cars seem to suffer from understeer on their standard settings.

I used to have a DFGT, but upgraded to a T500RS and TH8RS because I wanted the extra immersion of a clutch and shifter. I am very happy with them both, but would like to be able to adjust the speed of the steering rack in game. I also greatly enjoyed using the DFGT. I didn't find it any quicker steering than the T500 so do not fully understand G12's posts.

As far as I know Fanatec wheels are the only ones that can adjust steering rotation independent of the game. In which case the CSR Elite would be your best bet. IMO the T500RS is not great for Formula style driving. It works best with drifting, rallying and circuit driving (in that order).

an actual racer not just a waxer 👍

I have both pedals as well and yes, I will say that the csp's are a tad better for feel but calling t500rs pedals crappy isn't true at all. I have a nixim modded g27 and my t500 pedals are way better.

Perhaps not in GT5 but in game like F1 2011 where the T500RS rotation angle is limited (by software) to that of F1 car (200 deg), then it works just as well. It works even better when you have the F1 rim attached.

I was more commenting on the nature of the FFB, strong vs smooth.

The T500 isn't smooth due to the style of power transfer used. Normal belts, higher resistance motors, bearings with higher resistance and so on. You can clearly feel this when you compare it with a CSR Elite for example and both wheels are switched off. And the more resistance the wheel has to overcome, the harder it will be to deliver smooth effects.
