FnF 3? Are the writers going to scour our drift forums for material?

Poor drifting...It'll get washed out and/or seriously diluted soon.

Nah... there'll always be a spectator base for drifting events. It's the Japanese version of "Monster" Truck Races. It's been over a decade, and they're still drag-racing FF cars. Fortunately or Unfortunately, Import-culture is here to stay.

Hiya! :D :O  Meow! (='.'=)

I think import culture is going to last a very long time until something from the american side do something to start that huge muscle era again. Most people I know would rather have a forced induction engine over a naturally aspirated engine. I too would rather have a turbo car over a NA car.

mmmm....Porsche 911s.....upcoming Infiniti GTR....

It's a fact that most under 18s are more fascinated by Japanese Imports than "traditional" musclecars/sportscars... "Imports" (quotation marks because that now includes cars like the Cobalt and the SRT4) won't be supplanted till something newer comes along, but that could take decades.

I'd be very surprised if we have another "musclecar era". Didn't the rising gas prices kill it last time? We'll probably never see another one. :)

We are kinda in one right now, the Charger, GTO, Mustang Retro...RWD cars with V8's are coming back...which is kinda stupid, because like you said gas is high.

Yeah, they are pretty popular, but probably not like before the oil shock. Everytime I talk to an oldtimer, seems they were into musclecars. It's my guess that gas prices will, in general, keep on rising and not lower. I can't remember, but late last year or beginning of this year, I was seriously considering a Mustang GT as my next car. By spring, I was checking out Corollas, Scions, Mazda 3s, and currently, the new Civics. I'd rather have 30MPG than 300BHP. I'm poor. :(

We're in the muscle car era...

of Sorts..

but it's more of a ...Aftermarket/tuners muscle car era..

We don't really have anything with "balls" stock right now..that is at a reasonable price....or anything that can make good power with fiddling around at home anymore...

but...in the hands of the aftermarket...anything becomes a vicious brute..

i think sport compact would be a better term. but then again nsxs, gtrs and supras arent really compact either :banghead:

not to be confused with "spo-com" japanese tuning style (shrug, jdm take on american "rice" < i use the term loosely as to not offend anyone but its the best word to describe it so everyone knows what im talking about)

Hiya! :D :O  Meow! (='.'=)

I have a really big feeling that a new era will arise very soon!

The "teens vs adults" era. I often see an MKIV/RX-7/350Z being driven by someone that looks about 24+ years old while your teens will often be in a cheap civic/integra and such.

After some time from other forums, I find that these owners who have more expensive cars are bashing these teens as if they are so poor or something. I find this unfair for teens since they aren't expected to have a well payed job to be able to afford these expensive cars.

The teens get cocky to them, the adults burn them. THE END.

I just don't understand how cocky these teens can be with their cheap car. Thinking their car is getting good attention. MEANWHILE....

You got the happy adult in their spectacular modded sport car, looking for something to eat. Their target?

The cheap looking car that is driven like a maniac...ready to get burned....

This is all I read too from other car forums...People with more expensive cars claiming to beat a ricer and saying that its a kid/teen in it. :grumpy:

ok..What about the rich teen's who are spoiled and don't deserve the **** they get..

but have Porsches...and Supra's..

and 500WHP integra's....

They're teens...
and they drive like fools..

but they can beat the 24+ crowd

Since you mentioned "rich" I guess I will have to put this thing in a way I did not intend to put it.

Rich versus Poor. (This seems to be a problem with society today)

Well, sport compact is just about right. NSXs, GTRs and Supras aren't compact. Neither are RX8s, 350Zs and the like... but they're the dream cars of the sport compact crowd, not the meat of it.

Japanese "rice" seems to be institutional... even the rich guys in Japan engage in some questionable aesthetics.

I've been on a lot of boards, and it's hilarious how OG's (Old Guys... 30+... oops, guess that includes me now) are so happy that their expensive gas guzzlers can beat an econobox in a straight line. Don't really pay much attention... if you seriously have to crow about it every time you beat a car that's twice as slow as yours, there is something wrong with you :dopey:

I've never seen crowing by teens who've beat expensive cars with their tuned ****boxes or sports cars. Most of those guys are usually complaining in a forum about how unreliable their mom's/dad's car turned out to be, after mis-shifting/torque-steering/spinning the car into oblivion.

I HAVE seen a lot of bragging by 24+ OG's about beating other ****boxes in their tuned ****boxes...... that DOES include me.

Hiya! :D :O  Meow! (='.'=)

So what car is your tuned ****box? :odd: :O

This thread is starting to get off track  Maybe it should die. :O

Nah... don't have one anymore. Used to have an aggressively suspended little car with a stock engine that could outcorner almost anything. Used to fly around much more powerful cars at around 100 mph on some of my favorite curves at a local highway. Only to have them overtake me a few minutes later on the straightaway. ...my current car corners almost as aggressively stock, and I'm content to keep it that way... must be getting old.

I did have an engine swap once, but as it was a car set up for cruising, it wasn't much fun. :(

Star cars in this movie are gonna be a rwd evo 9, widebody NSX and a 350Z.
Heh, I saw the video of the rwd evo 9, Not bad at drifting with Rhys Millen behind the wheel.

And no doubt they'll have more plastic add-ons than Barbie. :yuck:

I hated 1, I hated 2, and no doubt this'll be just as cr@p as well.

Hiya! :D :O  Meow! (='.'=)

That is interesting! :O I The value of the NSX in the USED market will probably be like 100K after this movie.

The price was already raised by the end of production of beloved NSX... I really don't want see the price to rise just because of this movie... If I see a NSX rolling down the road modified just like the one in the movie, which I know it's not going to be great, I would cry in my heart... Hope it's not going to be the "Green Eclipse" affect,,,

I don't think we'll be seeing to many riced NSXs soon.
1)Mostly teens might watch this. Them getting an NSX is doubtful.
2)Modding an NSX is no easy accomplish. Most of the NSX parts are expensive to get.

Is another one of these movies really necessary? After the last two I got really tired of all these teens and twenty- somthings driving around in thier look-at-me cars(including ricers and gas guzzlers). And to think, I wanted a 240 before drifting was popular, now everyones gonna want one even more. I'd keep ranting if I had the time..or if anyone cared, but I have to leave now. :grumpy:

btw: in times like these it's always best to remember you are unique, just like everybody else.

Man... NSX's on 20's and with subs (but where would they put them, I wonder  )... another great handling car ruined by the aftermarket. :ouch:

The Fast and the Furious was...interesting...

2 Fast 2 Furious was a terrible movie that was fun to watch because of the over-the-top-ness and Hollywood-ness of it all. Kinda like your typical brainless action movie...

That said, I'm not really looking forward to this movie at all, but I'm definitely going to watch it....maybe even in the the theater, if it looks interesting enough...

Even before I really got into cars and everything I was already questioning some of the cars they had in the first Fast and the Furious. I mean how are things like a large sound system and playstations with LCD screens going to help you go faster? And wouldn't you want your car to be discrete (discrete as in it doesn't have a million lights and colors flashing from it) in case cops come around?

This boy at my school thinks he's a gangsta because he showed me a riced Honda Civic. I showed him a Ferrari FXX pic and it wowed his ass
