us americans need more supercars instead of just the corvette and viper, the ford gt and saleen s7 are out of production, nobody remembers the ssc ultimate aero, and so on.
I'm sorry, but people seem to know what a S7 is just about as much as they know what a SSC is. Same for Mosler.

thats exactly what i mean, we need something, at least a bootleg ferrari, but doesn't certain road laws state that we have an rpm limit to 9000 or something i dont know?

Last I knew, 6600 was the legal limit.

Then I'm not sure what the others would be, 7000 maybe? I can't imagine it being much higher.

1. I find it funny that the people calling the Corvette a "less-prestigious" car are primarily Europeans. Maybe it isn't in Europe but it most certainly is in the U.S.
2. The Corvette brand should not separate from Chevy. It would kill the brand and would lose its fun loving, cheaper concept.
3. About the only thing I think GM should do is make Pontiac a niche brand. Bring back the GTO/G8, Firebird Trans Am WS6, and the G6 with a FR platform and V6. You could put them back in with Buick and GMC. If it failed, then Pontiac can die once and for all. But it won't because I'd buy one.

I can pretty much say that that is true. Except if you own a C1 or C2 in very good shape.

I don't see why. The corvette has had extensive victories over in Europe in many prestigious races.

Not to mention being able to easily compete with most European cars anyways.

Well, Euro countries have pretty steep taxes for random crap like engine size, and their taxes in general are much higher than ours. The corvette isn't nearly as cheap for them as it is for us.

Disagree. The Corvette has an image problem even with many Americans.

This is one of the reasons why I think a "Corvette" brand would never work. Not even here. The identity and USP of the core product is way too ingrained into the psyche of Americans to successfully make the transition.

But I could see a new performance sub-brand with the Corvette as the flagship product.

Corvette is synonymous with the Chevy brand here stateside, so going separate is not going to work too well here Stateside. In Europe, though, it's a bit different.

The Corvette is like Japan's GT-R in terms of brand recognition. I bet Nissan thought of making GT-R it's own brand when they were tinkering away with each generation.

That is true as well. It is unfortunate though, I must agree.

personally I see the mustang working better than the corvette and even then it's a completely stupid idea...
