Hey all,
I've recently started downloading anime more than ever before and my selection of possible titles has grown just as much.
With this new library of anime at my finger tips, what series should I look into watching?
I'd like to watch stuff that has a limited number of episodes so I don't have to worry about getting tons of episodes.
I'm open to pretty much any type of anime. What do you all suggest?
(just remember that I'm looking for a short series)

Finished watching Death Note. Very good story, though the second half drags on a bit.

Do you mean recent anime, such as the ones being fansubbed for the current fall 2007 season? I know of a couple good ones in there that are pretty short.

It depends on what you like though - I specialize in the comedy/slice-of-life and romance genres, so if you're into those, just give me the go-ahead and I'll recommend some. :)

Like Melancholy of Haruhi? ;) Which is awesome, though very very very confusing at times.

Just watched the 6 episodes of Wangan Midnight I could track down. Pretty awesome, and made go hunting for old 70's Japanese cars. Could end up buying a project Celica as a result of this, an RA28.

Also was told I should watch Eureka 7... but sans dubbing, as dubbing generally sucks I find.

Shorter series... ala, 24 or fewer episodes, that I enjoyed... Scrapped Princess and Last Exile are both superb. I'll ask for some other recommendations from a friend of mine, though she has been out of the community for a bit.

^ Were in the same genre! ~nya~

-> I'd slao like a little moe, soft-core action and Ecchi too. Currently I'm watching Sayonara, Moonphase, Tenchi: Ryo Ohki, and Negima!? But due to the nature of my real life situation (2 jobs, 1 school, 0 money). I rarely get any time of enjoying anime as of late (even with my PS3). :indiff:

The whole series is just epic. The characters are lovable. The animation is top notch. The humour is perfect. Story is a little unimaginative, but it's alright. Epic is overused these days, but Gurren Lagann is one anime that deserves it. :)

Live action anime movies

Gatchaman- 2009
Speed Racer 2008
DBZ-unknown
Battle angel
Transformers 2

Eureka 7 is surprisingly enjoyable, ill watch to see where it goes.

Anyone watch Gurren Lagann?

It's a bit hit or miss with some of the episodes... One day it's killer mech action and the next day it's lubby-dubby romance. If you can handle sticking with it, I'd say go for it. Even though the romance isn't exactly everyone's cup-o-tea, the story is always well told and very deep. Always leaves you walking away with a thought or emotion you didn't have before watching the show and wouldn't have had otherwise.
I enjoyed the series and play to watch it again (but not with dedication).

Very nice assessment of Eureka Seven Kent! 👍 I have not seen the entire series, but have seen a good amount of it, and really could not have said it any shorter. Very straight to the point. 👍

Speaking of Gurren Lagann from a bit back, for people who don't believe in the Gurren Lagann that believes in you, that want an anime that pierces the heaven with it's drill, ADV is kicking reason to the curb and trying a new experimental service that lets you stream anime for free (with ads and whatnot), with Gurren Lagann being one of them.

**Do note that I've never actually seen GL, I just like using all the Extremely Manly Quotes I've seen relating to it. I plan on checking it out using this site now. 👍

After seeing GitS: Solid State Society, I have to say that on the whole I dislike the character evolution Togusa has gone through. His seeming disbanding of some of his trademark beliefs rubbed me the wrong way. I loved the movie ending, though.

Eureka 7 is pretty much what he just said...at one point I was 1 second away from Blowing my eardrums out and quitting the series, if I heard "I love you" again. However I'm glad I finished it, the last episode contains one of the greatest endings in anime history...

Before I forget, I would like to wish all the GTPlanet members...

Meri Kurisumasu :D

Ah, FLCL-like.... but it seems like that's not a good thing for this one...:(

Its certainly not done... not where they ended it. If they do stop, they are cruel and mean. But it has a to be continued bit and there has been no conclusion to anything at all.

phew....

I saw GL last night for the first time. It's great, tons of Quotables!

"Move it big butt!"

"Don't believe in yourself. Believe in me that believes in you!"
"what the hell does that supposed to mean?"

"Oh wait we're falling..."

"Oh he's an idiot"

I call dibs on Yoko then.
Normally I would look at a person and ask why, but in this case....I hate you....sniper chicks FTW!

If anyone gets the chance, I'm watching an episode of Shin Chan called "Pupin the Turd" and it's a mockery of Lupin the Third.
Funny stuff in some kind of way. ;)

Shin Chan can be some funny stuff and I occasionally watch the show when I get a chance. I wish I would have caught "Pupin the Turd" because I have also enjoyed Lupin the Third some.
