Remember the days when those small 4:3 TV's were considered state of the art, crystal clear, along with VHS's?

Ah, the late 90's.

Nostalgia aside, depends on if you really want to push for a bigger HDTV instead of getting a bunch of anime DVD's or something else.

Well I just figured out why Spice and Wolf III probably hasn't happened by now (Especially since the light novel series ended at 17 volumes in July according to Wikipedia.). I did some digging on sales in the Mania thread, and I found out the BD singles (There were 4 of them.) sold on average 3,500 copies per volume. 3,000 per volume is the number I've heard you need to do just to break even, so they probably didn't make enough money for a season 3 to be worth it. Though there is the possibility they may gamble on a season 3 (Hopefully they do, and it doesn't fail.), but as time goes by further, it becomes less and less profitable since the light novel just ended last July. The audience isn't really going to be there, except the devoted otaku who loved seasons 1 and 2 and want a third and final season.

I have no idea how season 1 sold, or how the season 2 DVD's sold, so I can't put those into this.

Big laughter goes out to Moefist.

Random Rise Kujikawa picture just to be relevant or something:
She is sofa king hot, like you have no idea.
I'm thinking of getting a 32" TV, similar to TC's. Or I could buy a shift knob and some DVD's. Hm...
Or a knob slobber.

And Aya looks hella unhealthy in that pic for some reason...like she's going through hair loss or something.

Meh, I feel like I'm not going to the festival since I cbf. I'd prolly go sooner or later but it's just a waste of time.

Never knew AOS- had a thing for Rise too, maybe she's one of the famous hotties of the season here in TGAT.

< forever alone playing Test Drive Unlimited 1.

One of the hottest anime chicks, ever. I AM watching Persona too, just paused it due to technical issues.

You're gay if you aren't.

[BarneyStinson]A Canadian auto show? Wha-what?

Why are you even a country?[/BarneyStinson]

What was there? Speak up, fool.

Was bored, and read through the entire 20 page, 200+ post thread at ANN for the Garden of Sinners set that angered the anime community a year ago as it was the first time an import that expensive was being sold here. I must say, it's similar to the Fate/Zero one (Good times, good times.:)I got to re-read that sometime. I was involved in that thread when it was active.), and I did learn some things, and others were reinforced.
Dropping prices would certainly increase sales, but apparently not enough to make up for the loss in revenue per unit. The could drop prices 50%, sell 40% more units than they would have otherwise, and all that would accomplish is dig a deeper hole for themselves. If you listened to the Geneon ANNcast, quite a while ago, a similar effect was described. Lowering prices had no effect on sales, or at least didn't increase sales sufficiently to make up for the lowered price. If there was any sign that dropping prices would actually make them more money, don't you think it would have been done already? Unfortunately anime seems to be a textbook case of inelastic demand.

But worry not, all you have to do is make anime much cheaper to produce, or make it much more popular in Japan than it is now, or both. Then prices should come down. As for how...

The ANNCast I think he's referring to (I still need to give it a listen, but I can't until I get back home.).

You mention the topic of "sales," but mainstream shows and movies don't rely on disc sales for their income, but rather on advertising (& toy sales) and ticket sales, respectively. Especially in Japan, which has a video sale market 1/10th the size of the U.S., despite having only half as small a population. A hit movie in the U.S. sells 10 million copies. A hit movie in Japan sells 800,000.

On a side-note, it's hilarious watching people react to Japanese anime prices.:lol:Guess this is what our cheap prices have been doing to people, especially FUNimation's S.A.V.E. editions which give them hardly any money per set sold (Like $5). People now go "What?!" at Madoka's pricing, despite it being the same price you paid years ago.

Now to read the R.O.D. Blu-ray box thread for price reactions (Aniplex USA's first Blu-ray release, which mimicked the Japanese BD box.), especially since that was the third time R.O.D. had been priced at $200 for its MSRP, but the first time a box set for the show appeared here in like 3-4 years.

It's the last day of my half term today!!! Someone help me :(

So that's where the complaints about Aniplex USA's pricing came from first (Might have been the Gurren Lagann movies first though.).

NIS America and Aniplex USA, they always get the most complaints from R1 fans because of their pricing which is much higher than everyone else's. However, they do strive for quality. NIS America gives you oversized hardcover artbooks, and neat chipboard boxes. Aniplex USA gives you imports, posters, many premium items, and more.
HOLY F:censored:K, Animax does some horrible dubs.
Which ones did you just hear? I've only heard bits of InuYasha's Animax dub on YouTube in clips.

So, you were looking to them for a dub seeing as how we may never get one now with what happened to Bandai?

Speaking of Hayate, season 1 (At this point, I'm presuming it's OOP from Bandai as it has counters on Rightstuf.), season 2 and the movie need to be licensed/rescued, gawdammit.:grumpy:

Actually I came across it and I was curious. There is little to no background music, and the quality of the voice acting, I swear these are people using their laptops microphone it's so bad.

Why is this so awesome? :odd:

For those of you familiar with the TFS Abridged series, yes, this is Freeza's ringtone.

^ Well, I wasn't quick enough to get dibs on Rise.

Though I'd post a million Rise wallpapers on my room and get Sayaka to thrash around for the lulz

^ The girl has jealousy issues.

^ Then why else would she be thrashing around? :odd:
