Back at home with good internet.

Yeah, I read that. And aside from
Shadowy motives not being clear and Gai coming back being stupid
I disagree. So please, TC, enlighten me as to why the first half is better. The first half lacked character motive and progression, now
Shu has to deal with his own uprising among his fellow students. The result of cruel decisions and keeping void-death a secret, Inori's own inner monster and the loss of his guilty crown.
The first half first off was better in how they had much better character development. Yes Shu was a whiny, weak-hearted protagonist, but he did give it all he had. You could feel sympathy for him as he acted similar to how many people would in his position. The Shu in the second half, he's merely stating the obvious, and doesn't really make all that good of decisions as a leader. People only lean on him because he can use voids, and he's their only hope.

Secondly, the first half had Shu actually learning how to rely on his friends. Now, he views everyone by how powerful their void is. If they're weak, he could give less than two 🤬 about that person. This is what he thinks of Souta already. He could care less, and it's like he's forgotten who Souta is completely.

The Inori thing, that I'm not surprised at.
Inside her is basically Mana, the girl who caused the Lost Christmas incident over Shu not wanting to make love to her, so it was to be expected she would be taking over Inori's body for a few moments.

As for Shu losing
his power, that was hardly interesting. Gai is just getting him off his high horse (He didn't get there well.) by doing what he's doing. Gai is trying to knock common sense into him.

With keeping
void-death hidden, you do realize he didn't find out about it until after Yahiro finally revealed it to him after Shu saw it first-hand right? Shu wasn't really hiding anything, it was mainly Yahiro hiding things. It's just Arisa spreading news about void-death, and making it seem like Shu was hiding it the whole time, when it was really Yahiro. She only did it however to get more people on her side for the coup.

Also in the first half, you didn't have all these plot holes, and the story progressing so fast at the expense of background, and proper character development. The second half is moving so fast, you can hardly care about the characters. Many get next to no screen time. Many have become minor characters when they were main.

It's similar to what I've been experiencing in Shakugan no Shana III (Final) where in that, the character development and story suffers from adding too many characters at once, so you have all these nobodies that you could care less about. It's called pacing, and Guilty Crown's second half is getting that vital part wrong.
Not to mention:

As previously alluded to, the burden of two deaths (mostly Hare's) being on his shoulders, arguably three with Gai. Which is clearly his motivation as seen in 17.
His motivation? His motivation from the start before people started dying was to get through this whole mess with as few casualties as possible.
Each death only got him to get back to reality more and more. It's not some game, these people (Why they want to eliminate the Japanese, their background, and more are so vague it's like WTF?) are out to eliminate everyone in the perimeter, and Shu is finally realizing just how badly they want to do it.
Oh yeah, Hare's death was an excellent turning point for Shu's character. The death of a loved one is never easy... and Souta still had the nerve to turn on him because of his change.

🤬 you Souta.

Guilty Crown is better than ever.
Yes that was a turning point, but the way he's reacting off of it, he's just become heartless as a result, but he pretty much was already becoming like that from the pressure being put on him as being the student body's only hope. If
Hare never died,
he still would have turned out the way he is now as more people end up dying.

As for Souta, how would you like it if your best friend turned into a massive jerk that put you at the bottom of the pile, and your friendship is null now? Not to mention if Souta disobeyed Shu ever, Shu would kill him. Souta's actions are completely understandable.
...I can't stand most Len songs... I can't get over his voice when he's alone :P.

...and aww I was planning to watch Guilty Crown (I thought it looked pretty nice, oh and the Tsugumi), but it sounds to be a bit over-hyped from what I am hearing here.
It is over-hyped. It's good, but over-hyped. It's not some show that should be praised more than the Holy Grail.

I used really look forward to watching Guilty Crown every week, now with how things have been going, I hardly ever look forward to it. I just now watch it, and can patiently wait for the next episode. They could have one episode a year at this point and I could deal with it with no problems.
Hearing from who? TC hardly ever explains the reasons he thinks of GC the way he does, and Andy, being a contradictory buttmunch, actually likes GC. He squees just as much as the rest of us. :p
Because I suck at explaining these things well. Considering how if someone asked why I love One Piece so much, consider it a masterpiece, and why it's my favorite anime, and I would struggle to give a good in-depth explanation, yeah...

Loses, Cano, Loses.

Secondly, the first half had Shu actually learning how to rely on his friends. Now, he views everyone by how powerful their void is. If they're weak, he could give less than two 🤬 about that person. This is what he thinks of Souta already. He could care less, and it's like he's forgotten who Souta is completely.
I don't believe that's the case. Shu still has feelings, but because he is the leader, he doesn't want to create double standards because he's afraid of people calling him out for that and thus neglecting Souta.

Maybe from the perspective of a "victim", but how would you feel if your friend is to blame for Hare being in the position she was in in the first place?

Remember, if Souta wasn't dawdling like an asshole it's probable that Hare would still be alive. Souta gets no sympathy from me at all. 🤬 him.

Oh, come on... it can't be that difficult. If you were (or anyone else... Loli ) to ask me why I liked MSG as much as I do, I'd give you more information than you'd want.

Uhm.... no TC.
The Shu in the second half, he's merely stating the obvious, and doesn't really make all that good of decisions as a leader.
The Shu in the second half is merely a result of events unfolding. And he may be colder and more willing to make the hard decisions, but it's still shown that he cares.

Good decisions? He can't make good decisions, he has to make tough decisions. Prioritize to survive. Lead an entire colony of people with little to no resources in an apocalyptic situation, see how well you handle the situation.

He has the pressure of survival on his shoulders. If anything, I care more about the Shu now and respect his resolve. Just because he's willing to sacrifice others doesn't mean he's a bad character, just one with a clearer motive.

WELL NO DUH, MAN. Obviously Shu didn't know. But people suck and in a position of power, it's easy to blame things on.

You can't just tell a mass of people "Oh, I didn't know that voids breaking would do such a thing!!". It's his responsibility to know, he was in charge.

I don't believe that's the case. Shu still has feelings, but because he is the leader, he doesn't want to create double standards because he's afraid of people calling him out for that and thus neglecting Souta.
Exactly. Shu has to be a leader and Souta took it personally. I can see why he'd feel like Shu was neglecting him for a reason considering the circumstances, but he should be a bit more understanding of Shu's situation.

See TC? Shu has motives. And even if you don't like what he's doing, he's doing it for a reason.

Now if you thought about it in Hare's POV, she could have chosen NOT to listen to Souta. She wasn't forced out of her will to do whatever it was she did. It's not Souta's fault in that case.

:p

Trust me, for me it is.
or is it actually starting to make sense?

I need to watch GC, got dammit.
You would be annoyed by Shu the moment you start the show.

Cano's watched NGE, and Shu > Shinji, I thought we all agreed on this. Cano, you need to watch GC if you want to be cool like us, but if you want a fantastic show to watch.... hold off for another 2 or 3 weeks. This show is hanging on the edge of a cliff; it's either going to fall or make the coolest comeback ever.

Personally, my guess is that a comeback will be made, but with more plot exceptions... :grumpy:

:p

Point taken, however:

We all know Hare is not the kind of person to turn a friend down, especially knowing how extremely helpful her Void is. Even if that weren't the case she still would have done it, if for no other reason than to protect Shu.

Cano's watched NGE, and Shu > Shinji, I thought we all agreed on this.

He can definitely handle Shu, I'm just a bit curious how he'll feel about the rest of the show.

I think everyone complaining about the lack of character development should realize that development ≠ feeling good about what a character does. Shu's developing as a character. Is he being a nice guy and giving everyone a share? Nope, but that's what he has to do and people don't appreciate anything that can be viewed as tyrannical.

@ Typically-Tyrically-Terrifying-Tipsy-Terramisu-The-Twelveth.

you should know by video games and warfare, that healers have excellent regenerating and recovering skills/ abilities... they're always giving, but they never take. So what can they give in return? Their life! *gasp*

Deal with it, Hare, like Gai, are training wheels for Shu. They help, but they can't be relied on forever.

Darker Than Black 👍

I personally think you need to broaden your viewing range, check out the recommended seriesesss

You do realize Naruto Shippuden got the axe from Disney XD right? It hasn't aired in months. Probably didn't do well in the ratings, considering anime struggles to get ratings on TV these days. Also there is the uncut dub out.

Yay Shounen-joiner! Rejoice everyone! Welcome JC-wholelottanumbers to this thread.

Hey JC, are you still watching anime, and if so, what are you currently watching?

I try it's just time, i watch a lot of other things like Full Metal alchemist (beast) to the other extreme Suzuka (which is actually quite good) to Peach girl(wtf, but ok....it's not bad but it's not good either lol).

Didn't realise Disney axed Naruto (really don't watch cable anymore, due to stepdad hogging t.v.)

I'm currently watching One Piece.

Ah Suzuka, that was one good romance anime. I need to give it a rewatch sometime after like three years.

Yes i did enjoy Suzuka, but most of my friends don't even know anime, and I'm usually the one to recommend anime to my friends. Any recommendations?
Btw finishing the last few episodes of K-ON season 2 as i haven't had time to.

I take it you've seen Trailblazer... which was "meh" in it's execution but still epic?

Wing should, at this point, go without saying as it's a particularly large contributor to people even liking the franchise - myself included. I agree about G: it gets a lot of hate because people grade it against the franchise as a whole. Solely the reason I refer to it as "Gundam Ball Z".

KENZZ!

Excel Saga and 00? I love you, bro. :p

Yes, homo.

Totally made you guys think i don't watch anime huh?
Too much anime in the past time was easy and fun to watch, now when you're 20 and watching anime even 2min is more than hell and a bore.... it must be human mind-psyche and weather/environment thing...

or its just ag.e
