Not everything that has years on it is worth something, especially some of the Hotwheels you've been buying. I'm not slamming Hotwheels collectibles. Some of them are pretty awesome, but only certain ones.

And I know you know this. Part of what is irritating me is your whole "lecture" on hobbies but then you claim to be a hobby god. This is the wrong thread for that, so I will stop typing about it.


Space Brothers had some stupid characters introduced in the last episode. Seriously, Japan, I don't know of any punk kids that are like that.
 
You jumped the gun on that one, you coconut. I never claimed to be a hobby god or know-it-all. I'm a just a hobbyist; I enjoy it, but never said I knew everything, especially hot wheels. Well now you're probably thinking I must have suggested I know a lot about figurines? I only know of the few better looking ones, but that's it.

I said I have a lot of sealed Johnny Lightning stuff that is rare and a decade old. I honestly don't care about dragging everything out if there is zero interest. If you might be seriously interested, then I will pull it all out and take pictures and list it. If there is no interest at all, then I will let it all sit where it is.

I think I also have some old Hotwheels and Matchbox stuff still in blister packs. BTW, when I was buying stuff, Matchbox was much better quality than Hotwheels. I don't know how it is now, but judging by what I've seen when walking down the toys aisle, they are all pretty bad these days.


To stay on topic, the last episode of Shinsekai yori was great. Lots of dialogue but it packed in history, plot, and action. It's the best episode of the show so far.
 
Man, I hate it when all the episodes of an anime haven't been subbed yet. It really messes with my flow of things. Because of that, I've had to put Joshiraku on hold, but I'll be able to make a dent in my list this week at least. I've decided to go with Kokoro Connect first, and so far, I'm pretty impressed by it.

Kokoro Connect isn't done yet. It's on a break before finishing the series. So far it is very good though.

I don't know how much to charge for them. I have no idea what they're worth. You're the collector after all. I want to know if you might be interested before I dig through my bins. And I mean seriously interested. I am not holding you to buying anything, but I want to know if you care at all before I go digging through my 🤬.

I was thinking about trying out the F-Zero anime, but then I remembered the dumb thing that came from it. It is way too popular for me to even want to watch it.

Typical 'good' things are usually just things that have been advertised a lot. Overall, it is just determined by a person's own opinion. Take something like Bleach or Dragon Ball, for example. Those are two of the most popular anime, but I personally think they're two of the worst.
 
Which is ironic, because the other mass of anime lovers who gravitate to the same show you like and watched. :p

Yeah, they're doing something right, if by "right" you mean whatever's most profitable. Kinda like how it's profitable for companies to illegally dump toxic waste rather than paying to dispose of it properly. :p

Not saying that the toxic waste known as Bleach should be illegal, I'm just saying that shows like it are popular because they appeal to the largest market demographic: People with lowbrow taste. Same goes for all the moe, ecchi or borderline hentai shows out there.

I'd lump general shounen in there too, but shounen's more aimed at young boys, so it's understandable why it isn't high-brow entertainment. And there are actually some shounen shows that are actually worthwhile for all ages, kinda like a good Pixar film. Most aren't, but that's okay.
 
Watched the Upotte!! OVA this morning. It was terrible.
 
Speaking of "Popular = Good... right?", Sword Art.

Seriously. I mean, it's OK, and I'm watching it. But it's not a show I'd ever watch a second time. I was hoping that they'd take Kirito down a notch and maybe actually give him a challenge, but nope, uber hax from the second he starts the new game. If I wanted to watch the main character predictably own everything, I'd watch old superhero cartoons.
 
It's like SAO's aimed at kids; where the hero never loses so the younger audience will always look up to him.

I surprised myself. I actually suggested to Adultswim that they add some non-action anime. Not that they will listen to it, I just feel good that I did it.
 
omg the english K-ON VA singing in japanese...can't tell the difference jesus christ..and that is why i adore the english dub.. cant beileve how authentic it sounds, i got chills..

The one that did best out of all of those was Durarara!!.

Toonami's purpose when it comes to anime is to get people further into it, and action does that best. Non-action pushes people away, which is unfortunate as some of the greatest shows of all-time lack it.
