Wanting to get more into anime I recently watched (thankyou free month of netflix!)

Eden of the East
The girl who leapt through time
Strait Jacket
Eureka Seven: Good night, sleep tight

Three of them were movies but I must say I enjoyed all of them, really starting to get into this anime thing, on the surface it never really appealed to me and I didnt think I would enjoy it like I did the others (Gundam etc) but I was wrong!

I'l be honest though, the Eureka Seven movie confused the **** out of me and Eden of the East left me wanting some more to tie up loose ends, it kinda leaves you hanging. That said and getting to the point.

What suggestions would you guys make to me? Aside from the ones i've already been pointed at (but not seen), Full metal alchemist and Bleach.

watch the movies until you find a series that really speaks to you.
I've stopped watching anime for the most part, I read bleach and Naruto (naruto is my fav) every week.

That said, watch what classic anime is out there, ninja scroll, akira, ghost in the shell. From there go more hard core...

When you are done being a full otaku, watch Cowboy Bebop.
Flames begin.

Oh and if you are ok with a little mind sex (which it sounds like you aren't but just in case)...

Neon Genesis Evangelion (nge) is epic as a perverse look at everything in life shown on a backdrop of giant kung fu robots killing giant aliens.

good luck and welcome to the general anime thread. :)

I like the idea of NGE, sounds like my cup of tea. Already saw Ninja Scroll (was the first anime I ever saw when I was about 12-13), following that I saw Dragonball Z, then Gundam Wing of course and a few other Gundam series that I loved. Now fast forward and i've seen Naruto, then I watched the above stuff on Netflix and that's where we are now.

As far as watching stuff that may not be on Netflix, until last night the entirety of stuff that I had seen was not on Netflix ^^, but to be fair to it there is quite the collection of Anime available on there.

And that's just the thing, there is so much to actually watch it really is hard to know where to start, and on the surface descriptions most of them don't appeal to me, but I'm starting to find out that regardless of that If I give them a chance my mind changes! Naruto was one of those and I have to admit even with the filler I'm hooked now, don't need to watch that all at once though, going to explore what else is available.

Anyway cheers, I will try out your suggestions.

If you liked The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, check out Summer Wars. It's directed by the same guy, only with more experience under his belt, so the end result is a bit more refined. 👍

You can do Perfect Blue, Planetes, and 5 Centimeters per Second, Bigbazz... if you ever show up here again that is

Have you ever seen Cowboy Bebop, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Death Note and maybe Code Geass, there are those that could be good introductions into anime, they are pretty well written, action packed and interesting.
