Yeah, their bus crashes and falls off a cliff. Everyone dies.

And then Sepp Blatter sells their spot in the World Cup to some oil sheikhs like Saudi Arabia.

@TheCorvette Nope, I honestly don't know anything about animation. Yes, I remember that AoT did have a lot of stills. But the parts that were animated definitely stood out to me.

And this has been said before, but a budget isn't the only think that makes a piece of media what it is. You also have to take into account the staff, production techniques, etc. And in all types of entertainment that I've seen, the director can have a serious influence in how the final work turns out. Who knows what other X-factors were in the production of your examples?

Once again... I agree with you that big budget =/= amazing work. But big budget+ careful planning+ good story/concept = amazing work. Everything I've ever seen in my entire life follows that pattern.

I think it cost around 100 dollars. I wonder if the head is detachable lol

Started watching Kore Wa Zombie Desuka?
Can anyone tell me if it's worth my time?

EDIT: Pacing and art are mediocre, it doesn't have any real story or even action, and it's even got bad voice acting to boot. Dropped.

Again, a big budget doesn't fit into the equation... Anime in itself is made cheaply.
http://www.crunchyroll.com/anime-news/2011/10/30-1/how-much-does-one-episode-of-anime-cost-to-make

The average range of cost for anime is $100,000-$300,000 per episode.

Says in that article that it's about 11 million yen... At current exchange rate, that's $91377.33.
But all those individual costs don't account for roping in special cast members (such as getting a well known voice actor or animation studio to do that job for a few extra bucks).

Crunchyroll
If you suppose an average episode has 5,000 frames, the price per frame for an in-betweener is 220 yen...
5000*220= 1,100,000 yen per episode. 1,100,000*24 (for a full length production) =26,400,000 yen
26,400,000 yen to USD= $219,314.83. That's for the price of an in-betweener, not even fully dedicated to the program. And we still haven't considered real production costs here. Anime is by no means cheap... a big budget can definitely make a difference.

Oh and as a joke:

This is what happens when you don't have any budget at all :P

(Keep in mind the dollar is REALLY strong against the yen right now. They're predicting it could possibly become 200 yen=$1 USD. Ideally think $1=100 yen as with yen, it's like they're paying for everything in pennies.)

It is in comparison to so many other things. Western animation, Japanese live-action shows, western animated movies, etc.
That said, a single anime episode costs about US$100,000-300,000 per episode, according to various producers we've talked to. That might seem like a lot, but in reality it's pretty cheap, about on par with an American deep-cable TV show. (An American prime-time TV show can cost well into the millions.) But multiplied across 13 episodes, that nonetheless turns into a total budget of US$2-4 million.

(The guy writing this article, Justin Sevakis worked for Central Park Media back when they were around, so he definitely knows the business. He also writes the current Answerman columns on ANN.)

And in case you forgot, Japanese animators are poor. And look at that, CG animators are paid more than 2D, yet CGI in anime usually still looks like crap in comparison to the 2D animation. You don't really see that with western CGI vs. western 2D.

So once again, bigger budget=/=better looking. Just because you spent more money doesn't mean it's going to look better. What matters more is how much time you have, and the talent of your staff, that is what truly affects how a show is going to look.

Damn! I wanna play the ENG translation but is it an eroge?

Yes.

I woke up early about 2 hours ago, couldn't go back to sleep, so I finished off Sakaki's route. Pleasant ending that makes me question why I haven't taken steps to achieving the happiness the protagonist has.

Now my new favorite part in FSN:UBW
Shiro opens the door for Rin then closes it
I NEED that GIF!

That reminds me that I need to keep watching that.
That reminds me I should be watching more of Fate/Zero before watching UBW14. :dopey:

Japan's Christmas present to me is Amagi Brilliant Park episode 13 :p
I imagine it was 'Brilliant' for you. ;)

wasn't she the one with the heart transplant?

If this was a questioned directed at me:

Sakaki is the sheltered black-haired girl who hacks at people with box cutters for get too close. Michiru, the blonde twintails, is the one who had a transplant at a young age. I'm saving her route for last.

I should of quoted it but are you still watching the show? They are going through each route pretty fast...[/spoilers]

You know what the best bit of Kill La Kill is?

When Ryuko told Satsuki that she wasn't even good enough to be her fake; and then satsuki was like "I'll make you ea-" but got cut off.

Yeah.

@nk4e, I'll probably watch the rest of the show once I finish all the routes. I finished both of Makina's and one of Sakaki's.

After I finish the other, I'm going to Sachi's, then Amane's, and finishing off with Michiru.

Granted I haven't been through a lot of VNs or anything like this or Clannad or whatever, I'm liking the conflicts they're setting up with the heroines mainly because the protagonist doesn't strive off a weak morale. I've started to look up to this protagonist as a role model almost. Knowledgeable, observant, rational and capable of fighting. Clannad's Tomoya wasn't like this. He had daddy problems he couldn't work out. I used to like that guy too. Kanon's Yuji was a little sharper, but he too was called a baka inevitably.

So many nice sounding romances out there. Too bad they all have terrible art or not art at all :p

I cannot read for extended periods of time, even a book that greatly appeals to me would turn me off eventually.

I also want to play a non-NSFW visual novel with good ENG translation... got any suggestions?

Everything's rushed nowadays. Might as well go back to Gundam Wing, when the whole thing was stretched out into 4 cour instead of being crushed into one :P
