The problem isn't that it's slow-paced. There are lots of good anime that's slow-paced. The problem is that it's garbage.

Anyway, just finished Moribito, which was absolutely amazing. Now to watch Clannad, which somehow I get the feeling won't be as amazing. Not saying it'll be bad, but c'mon. Cutesy slice of life romantic stuff is enjoyable, but I personally doubt I could ever consider such a show being my favorite, or even close to it.

Haha, that's okay. Many shows have already made me shed man-tears, and I'm sure many more will cause me to shed them again.

Nice finds, InSephicion. The show is funny, but I really hate how she just can't stand up for herself for the most part.....Funniest bit however is when dad spat out his tea.

Let's debate. I said before I'm not into PVC figures, but I have never seen things of this level. Rather than looking at these as a collectible, I'm looking at these as art, plain and simple... PVC Figures of this caliber are worth every penny. Anything less isn't.

What I believe the standard should be when buying (or making) figures:
Detail should be top-notch (no simplifying and going nendo on hair, unless it IS a nendo figure).
Level of difficulty to craft a figure should be about this high (as figures that are easier to craft generally look plain).
If there are other materials the figure is includes, make sure the texture tells you so (such as metal being shiny or rust being painted in)
Pose or stance should be interesting to look at (but doesn't necessarily have to be twisted like a contortionist).

If there were figures I'd like to buy, it'd have to be looking as good as these, if not better.

I fully agree AOS- and the ones you posted look top notch. I especially like that BRS one 2nd to last and that Miku's hair is amazing. My standards have gone up when buying them. You definitely pay for it but for the right figure it's worth it. I'm still blown away by the detail on that Asuka that just arrived. The pictures truly don't do it justice.

Bust out the Macro on your camera in that case. One thing 99% of figures can't show super well is facial details, including the ones I posted above. This is what I've always hated about PVC figures...

Here's a example of what the finishing appeal is like for most figures:

As much as I like Misaka.. It looks quite bland to me and that face is extremely off-putting... But you can argue that there's nothing else to add to make it better. While that may be true, I'd say invest your money into other figures.

I think I have a macro lens somewhere around here for my SLR but it's film. Haven't used it in forever lol. I agree with faces. The biggest thing I look for is to just make sure it actually looks like the character. It's amazing how many figures come out and the face is completely off. Who allows that to go through? Idiots.


That one is pretty bland. I do like how they made her holding the coin though. That's a nice little touch. However her character design is a little bland anyway. I think the only people who'd buy it are just fans of that character. I'd pass on that figure too though and move on.

I'm speculating on this, but if it's inevitable that formless anime characters are going to have a shortage on facial structure, it is possible to compensate by adding precise highly detailed objects around the face to take the attention away... like that Miku above, in detail below:

The hair, neo-hair ties, space-age headset, and even the crisp lines of the eyelashes do the job quite well.

Why is this Miku green btw?

That is a highly detailed figure. I really like the hair on it. However I don't like how far they've strayed from her original design with it. It does look top quality but personally I want one in her regular outfit and not as "grown up" looking as they've made her look here. However if you like it by all means get it. It would definitely look great sitting out somewhere on a desk/dresser/bookcase. Looks like we are turning you *muahahahaha*

I like the matured look, especially the eyes.. If you want them big ol eyes, keep it 2D... or go Nendo. I think that was one of the killjoy factors in most figures I forgot to bring up.

You guys are getting me into this, but unless I win the lottery, I ain't buying any figures still. Family's got financial issues.

Yeah there's an Asuka figure like that. They made her look older and I think overall the figure is ok but I do like what they did with her face simply because you don't ever see that with figures of her:

Not sure what's up with the random line above each of her eyes (no not her eyebrows). Weird makeup choice. I also don't like the black line between her lips and teeth. I've read you don't really notice it but I don't plan on buying this figure anyway. Overall I do like the face. They did give her hooker boots though!



And I can definitely understand the financial issues. Figures can get expensive fast. Like I said I've been buying them for years and years and I hardly have any. Too many other important things to spend money on.

Black lines weren't necessary. If they wanted to give her the double eyelids or bring out the lips, they should have probably used a darker shade of the skin tone and lip colour respectively because black stands out too much.

My friend is into WOW and has a few figures and they do look great.


Right now watching Index II and Fate/Stay Night.

On the list of "to watch next" is Clannad, K-ON, Gundam 00, Baccano!, The World God Only Knows, and MM!.
