Today's mobile suit is entirely new, so new in fact I can't offer an in-depth profile as there's yet to be anything really revealed about it; in any case, welcome to the Gundam AGE-1 Normal.

The AGE-1 was developed from data gathered from the AGE device and is the prized possession of the Asuno family. AGE-1 incorporates a unique OS and is in many ways similar to ALICE; the AGE System can collect battle data and customize itself, or evolve as necessary. The AGE System (from what I've read) is also semi-sentient and will have a say in things. It is apparently impossible for the AGE-1 to be used by anyone other than Filt as the only way to mobilize the unit is with the AGE Device, it may even be tied directly to Asuno lineage. Built as a counter-measure against the Unknown Enemy, the AGE-1 bears the name "Gundam" as it was designed to look as a legendary savior. It can also be outfitted (or even outright assume through either recommendations via the AGE System or direct evolution) with two additional forms: Sparrow (AGE-1S) and Titus (AGE-1T) the former of which appears to be a high speed attack variant, with the latter appearing to be a heavily armed variant.

The AGE series itself is to span across three unique generations, with the AGE-2 and AGE-3 to be revealed accordingly.

Is that the prologue to Kurisu becoming a SERN member? Brainwash her? Blackmail?

Here we have the second tune of Jazz Week @ The Anime Song of the Day.

This comes from the soundtrack of a virtually unknown anime: Najica Blitz Tactics, which is actually very good and, if you liike fan service... well, lets just say that this show developed the panty show into what it is now. Almost every scene in it is a panty shot. And the ones that aren't lead to panty shots.

Anyway, the entire soundtrack for this is amazing and has great jazz, I was struggling as to what to post, but I think the opening fits perfectly. There's more awesome stuff in the OST, tho. Check it out.

Not really. Japanese use the shortened word anime which is just short for the english word animation. Which is basically what a cartoon is. So they are calling their 'anime' cartoons, just using their loanword for it.

The only actual differences is that asian and "western" art have different styles, and we tend to see cartoons and comics as more for kids, whereas in Japan they're generally accepted as having a slightly broader audience, for the most part. That still doesn't stop the majority of their shows being marketed at kids/young adults (so they can actually try and make some kind of profit), and it doesn't stop the "other" few kinds of shows ie fanservice shows being marketed at its target audience ie horny young men. But I digress...

Manga/comics are a lot cheaper in Japan, easily available, and read by lots of people. Anime/cartoons are ridiculously expensive, only air on TV past midnight, and any fans older than, say, mid-teenager are typically ostracised from society. But some of these things really come down to differences in society and its growth along with the medium.

Oh boy, I kind of went off on a little tangent there...whoops I'll see what I can dump to compensate...
