So is there anything else that happened to happen in the first ten episodes? It really seems odd to me that they would start on the eleventh episode after having bringing it back to the nightly lineup.

Actually, yes there are other things that happend in the first 10 episodes.

If I may, I would like to point you all in the direction of a site that I like...
http://www.theotaku.com/inuyasha/episodes.shtml

The otaku boards were my first ever site.
I worked my way up to 1600 or so post, became friends with the staff and learned a great deal, while also getting to just discuss what I love so much: anime. :D

Please check the site out and enjoy it.

Vash,
Really, of all those first 10 episodes, it is only episodes 5, 6, & 7 that matter big time.
Those are the introduction to Inu Yasha's brother sesshomaru.
In fact, have you seen much of him?
Well have you ever noticed that he is forever trying to find a new arm?
Guess how he lost that arm?
Guess who found the Tetsaiga at the same time? :trouble:

Great show though. 👍
And enjoy that otaku site.
It has some other great stuff including anime "shrines" for other popular series and movies.
Actually vash, you're always interested in Ninja Scroll, right?
Well here...
http://www.theotaku.com/ninjascroll/

Hope you guys like it. :D

Oh btw, vash, I saw you in the wrs. 👍 :D

Alright, well I will check out theOtaku.com and read what they have for the first ten episodes, so maybe I will be caught up for the most part. It really is hard to truly get all of a story just by ready it likes this, but it does help a whole lot too.

Well I did know that Sesshomaru was Inu Yasha's brother. I have seen some of him and he is always trying to take Tetsaiga from Inu Yasha because he thinks the sword he has is crappy compared to the Tetsaiga. Though I never did notice he was looking for a new arm or that he lost his arm by way of Inu Yasha--this is correct right?

Well I have not always been interested in Ninja Scroll, it is just I have been looking for another series to start watching. The samurai type series have always been of big interest to me, which is probably why I liked Kill Bill a lot.

Yep, I was in the WRS. I have been interested in getting starting in it, but have not been playing GT3 a whole lot until just the last two weeks. I have finally decided to start a new game and go from there. So saying that, I am only about 25% into the game as of right now, but have one million plus credits. It sure does make the game start out a whole lot better when you do the Time Trials first. This week may be the week that I start competing in the WRS. Right now, I am thinking a 22B STi sounds like a fun car to take for a spin and see what it can do. Just from memory of driving it a long time ago, I remember it being a blast to drive. Hopefully I might be able to do something with it.

Well now for more question pertaining to Inu Yasha, and stuff about tonight's episode. Yet again, sorry for the double-post. :dunce:

After Inu Yasha saves the girl and she hits Inu Yasha, that is pretty funny. Her lack of thanks for her saviors was pretty funny too. All of the arguing between the characters is rather comic too. Can someone please tell me what the name of the little guy who lives like on Inu Yasha or whatever he does? The insulting of him and his tendecies to run away in the heat of battle is funny. Now my question is, does he really always run away from battle or are they just giving him a hard time?

Well tonight's episode was really a pretty good one. There was some funny moments and some action. Since I know about the developing love story between Inu Yasha and Kagome, I could tell this was probably one of the first times it started to bloom, though I do not knokw if this was the one time or actually one of a couple that had happened up to this point. I really need to get around to reading theOtaku.com's Episode Guide

Cano will be pleased with me. Today I went to Barnes and Noble to look at some magazines. While I did buy a magazine, I did happen to wander over to the manga section. At first I didn't even consider buying anything, but one book happened to catch my eye. And it just so happens that it was Battle Angel Alita. Since Cano has spoken so well of the manga and how good it is, I decided I would buy it and give it a try.

Well I finished reading the first volume just a while ago and it was very good! 👍 Though, I am not quite as impressed with some of the art as Cano had spoken so high of it--but then again, I am not much of an artist and thus may not be the best judge of it--I will say some parts of the art is very, very impressive and very well drawn. 👍 But being that this is only the first volume, I may have more quality material in store. Hopefully as I learn more of the story, I will appreciate the art that much more.

The story intrigues me the most though; it has drawn me in to want more of the story. I would not say it is all that out there and hard to believe, but it is very well written and has left me with a whole lot of questions that I want answered. Right now from what little I have read, the story is believable, though some of the technology is very hard to comprehend how all of it would work and how it would even be developed in the first place. But I definitely could kinda see how it is somewhat farfetched too. The story makes me want to buy more of the manga and see how the story develops. It also makes me want to know what Alita's past is and how her future will pan out. It is also makes me want to know how the world has come to take the shape it presently is in in the book; basically, why the world is the way it is and how it become to exist in it's present condition.

After reading the first volume, I would definitely suggest checking this series out. Like Cano said, it is very well drawn--though I am not quite as impressed as him still, at least not yet. The story is very interesting and makes me want to come back for more of it.

While I was picking up Battle Angel Alita from the manga section, I also happened to pick up a different first volume of Inu Yasha manga. Basically this first volume covers the TV series first couple of episodes. I was just wondering what the heck the difference was from this first volume and the first volume I already had. So just to find out I went ahead and bought it. Though i have not gotten around to reading any of it yet. But I will eventually, along with the other books of manga I have to read. Oh, and this volume of Inu Yasha is in color.

http://www.the-underdogs.org/game.php?id=1646 Check it out. This was a kickass anime when it was out.. Man I'm too old school for you all.

I don't even want to know how old you are if an anime based, tactical mech game made in 1995 is old school to you.

Old school is a way to describe the things that all of us were into before we knew the word "anime."

Just kidding with you... but remember, I'm 23 years old.
In 95 I had already grown out of my first anime phase and started on my second... ( I started "adult anime" some time between '91-'93/ between the ages of 10-12).

Any way, Yeah :dopey:
Just raggin on you in good fun, try not to get bent out of shape :sly:

Later :D

Today, I bought the second volume of the Battle Angel Alita manga, though I have yet to get around to reading it. I may or may not get to reading it tomorrow.

I know this does not pertain to this thread, just to find out, does anyone else here watch Stargate SG-1? A simply yes or no will answer my question, but I ask because I would kinda like to find out if any of the anime people at GTP like SG-1 too. If you do like it, I have made a thread for the series, so check it out! 👍

mwahaha!!! another one just got hooked. Believe me, you will start saying "...my god..." when you get to volume 3 of the manga. certainly the art progresses a lot as you go trough the series, (and wait till you get to Last Order :D) and most of those questions you mentioned WILL have some answers, but not a full pledge (: specially Alita's past, wich will be unfold until you get to read Last Order, and each volume will hook you up more and more and effing more. there were times that I didnt even sleep at all because I HAD to read what happened with gally. Im glad to see that all of my chit chat has made you check the thing out. you will be GLAD you did too, trust me. you'll be a fan in less time it takes you say "Tiphares".

dont start reading it today or you won't sleep :D

Well, I thought that as I read more of the manga, the art would grow on me and I would get more used to it. Don't get me wrong, it is awesome, but there is some that is not as good as the rest in the first volume. But the main thing that made me want more of the series is the story. I find the story to be very intriguing and a lot left open to be answered. Since there is all those holes at the moment, I just have to have the answers.

Oh, BTW, how many volumes of manga are there?

I wasn't really planning on reading it tonight and I don't really even know when I'll get to it, but I will sometime soon. Right now, I am thinking about what all happened in the premiere of Season Eight of Stargate SG-1, along with playing alittle GT3.

for the volumes: there are 9 volumes of the FIRST run of Gunnm (original name). I may have to make something clear. Originally Gunnm was gpoing to be much longer, but Yukito Kishiro fell in a very, veeery deep depression and personal crissis and felt he couldnt (not even wanted to) finish Alita, so the ending in volume nine is literally a CUT of the story, an improvised ending so that Yukito could retire from the manga. Eventually, in the spam of some years, Yukito got over this situation and began another manga (I dont remember the name, but its also very good) but he wanted to finish alita properly. he SO wanted that he put a goood pause on his other manga and continued gunnm not EVEN from the ending, but from a moment before the ending in the last manga, from wich the story should have continued. these series is called "Gunnm Last Order" and it is running in japan. so far 4 volumes have been released (or at least that is what I know. I sure hope there are more) , and as I know, VIZ is translating the third one.

Cano

Hey Cano, as far as I could tell from Amazon.com, the third volume of Last Order has already been translated. The only reason I looked is because I thought I had seen it on the shelf today when I went to buy the second volume of Battle Angel Alita. So you should probably look out for it, if you don't already have it. Amazon.com also says that the fourth volume will be released September 15, 2004. Just thought I would share this information with you.

:O nice. I just knew it was bein' translated. I will have to order it then. you see, the manga has been a HELL to get over here in mexico till I came upon a shop called comic castle, from wich I got 1st and 2nd volume and ordered the rest. they literally saved my ass. I'll go tomorrow :D
thanks for the tip dude.

Not a problem at all. It just so happened that I picked up a Last Order book just to see what it was. After seeing that it said "Last Order" on it, I figured it probably was some kind of sequel or follow up to the first part of the series. And for some reason I happened to remember it was the third volume I picked up to look at. To make sure though, I had to look it up and see if I was right or not and I was.

Just wanted to stop in and let all you guys know that my weekly saturday anime installment will be posted at some point today. :D

Should be a little later though since I've got some other stuff that I need to do first.

However, I enjoyed the shows last night so I will be looking forward to posting.
Until then,
-

I was wondering where you Saturday anime report went. It was like, hmmm, something must be wrong, GoKents did not give us his usual report.

Yeah, thanks for noticing Vash,

Nothing was wrong, but something very right did keep me from posting. :drunk:

By any chance, did you catch yu yu and inu yasha?

Both were great episodes.

I will elaborate in a little while but at the moment I am still kinda waking up, sooo...

Back soon & until then,
-

Yep, I caught both YuYu and Inu Yasha last night, along with Gundam SEED. All three shows had a pretty good episodes. I say that YuYu and Inu Yasha had more action throughout the episode and were better because of it, while SEED was much more slow to develop with the action and not quite as good of an episode, but still not too bad.

Indeed Vash, both Inu Yasha and Yu Yu had great episodes last night.

First of all, Yu Yu Hakashu,
Wow!
Last night was the night.
It was the fight of the season coming to a close. Yuske vs Younger Taguro. 👍
I personally really enjoyed this episode.
Just seeing yuske and taguro putting everything into 1 final attack made me feel like everything was coming to a climax worthy of the build up.

Most important to me in this episode was the little stuff that happend.
For example,
Taguro killed Kuwabara in the last episode.
This really set off Yuske and unleashed his true power.
Keep that in mind...

It was awesome because the first part of this episodes fight was a hard punch from taguro that sent yuske across the arena, the problem for taguro in this was that Yuske didn't even block it at all.

As Yuske went flying across the arena tearing up the ground as he grinded across the ground, taguro started talking to Yuske.
This was a big part of the episode.

You see, Taguro specifically said "now we can fight as equals." However, yuske said no, that's not true, but he never elaborated on it.

Instead, Yuske picked himself up and basically sat there, sad and reflective.
At this point Taguro went to kill another of Yuske's friends... Well at that moment Yuske moved too fast for Taguro to see and grabbed Taguro's wrist.
Power started clashing and the ground started breaking up.
Then, at the exact moment where Taguro acted confident Yuske dissappears and nails taguro hard!
And I mean hard, like break your neck so your head sits sideways hard.

Well right as taguro got up a spirit gun blast came at him and blew him down.
It was great, Yuske was finally fighting with his true potential and all of his heart!

Of course that wasn't the end.
Taguro got up and gave a little speech only to be "shut up" by Yuske who claimed "I'm putting everything into this one last shot... everything I've got, because either way, this is going to end now"!

Well sure enough both Yuske and Taguro both got all their energy ready and then the final blast went down.

Taguro charged and Yuske shot.
Immediately Taguro caught the blast and struggled with it.
He couldn't hold it back at first, but as Yuske finished putting out his power Taguro began to control the blast.

Still not being able to get out from behind the blast, Taguro gave it everything to stop the spirit gun shot.
The muscles on his back began to ripple and pop.
Yuske fell to the ground with no energy.
Taguro continued to fight the blast and eventually he actually destroyed the blast with his incredible power.

However, as Taguro walked over to the fallen spirit detective, he began to remark on the situation in a fulfilled way.

Then as Taguro finished his speech, he fell apart, literally!
The demon armore that had be the heart of his power crumbled and exploded away from his now exposed weak and frail human body.
At that moment Taguro in his weakest form fell to the ground and laid dead.

As the announcers and viewers watched on with relief and grief, Yuske got up!
It was finally over, or so it seems... :trouble:

next week we will see the dark tournament come to a close with an explosive conclusion. ;)

Now,
Regarding Inu Yasha,
I didn't get to watch it, however, I did record it. :D

The most important fact about the show is that it was the conclusion of a 5 or 6 episode story set involving the Dark Priestess.

This Dark Priestess had broken the seal to a shrine which sealed an Ogre demon away from the world. At some point in this process the dark priestess combined with the ogre and created a huge demon ogre out of her own body. (Sadly, since I didn't get to watch the first half of the episode yet, I do not know how the ogre and the priestess merged.)

The show picks up on this note and a great battle ensues.

Luckily, I was able to catch the final half of the show.
This point brings me to the an observation...
The back lash wave or ultimate technique of the tetsaiga was used.

Did you catch that part Vash?
The premise of this attack is that it can only be used against incredibly powerful demons.

What happens is the windscar is used by Inu Yasha, but with a twist... when he uses the windscar attack the backlash wave will form after the windscar interacts with the oppossing demon's energy.

What happens is, the windscar attack is set forth, but at the same time, the energy of the oppossing demon that is being used to attack Inu Yasha is reversed and sent back on the enemy.

This makes it so the Windscar and the enemy's energy are channeled through a single attack created by the tetsaiga. It takes the form of multiple tornados and powerful electrical storms.

The problem with this backlash wave is that it can only be used against enemies too powerful for the windscar attack to damage.
If Inu Yasha was to use the Backlash wave without the proper enemy the attack would go back onto inu yasha (since he would be the greater power).
Luckily IY is smart enough to remember that and only uses the backlash wave when necessary.

Now, in this episode, the backlash wave was easily enough to destroy the ogre. 👍

Unfortunately, the dark priestess that joined with the ogre already had the Sacred Jewel.
Once the ogre-priestess-demon was defeated a minion of naraku (a wind demon) appeared just in time to grab up the sacred jewel and escape.
This will certainly become an issue with in the next 8 episodes.

So after this episode Naraku will have almost the entire sacred jewel and because of that he will be more powerful than ever.

One closing note of the show was made in an appearance by Kikyo after everything had calmed down.

She did not reveal herself to the group, but she did stay at a distance and spy on them.
As the show closed she began to comment on the fact that the dark priestess had become "obsessed" with the sacred jewel and made it clear that this obsession was the reason for the creation & demise of the dark priestess.

However, as Kikyo made this point she took a somber & reflective attitude. Then like a bombshell, she made it clear that she knew this obsession was also inside of her. Not an obsession for the jewel like the dark priestess, but instead an obsession for revenge and closure to her personal struggle with Inu Yasha and Naraku.

This emotional development for Kikyo was also very important because it showed that kikyo is slowly coming to realize that she is not evil and that evil deeds are not the path for her or "the gang."

With those thoughts the show drew to a close.

I really enjoyed this saturday's episodes of both Inu Yasha and Yu Yu Hakashu.

👍 👍

So until next time,

(btw, sorry about such a long post. :sly: )

So that is what that attack was. I knew it was a different attack Inu Yasha had after hearing him announce he was going to use it. But while he was announcing it, I didn't really catch what he said. Now it makes sense.

And wow! What a long post! You definitely covered everything that happened in YuYu and Inu Yasha, almost to the point that you would not even need to watch the episodes. 👍

Glad you liked my post. :D

You know what I did when I posted it and saw how long it was?
I went and copied it into ms word. :sly:
1,200 words in the word count. :scared:

Yeah, for real, I wish essays for my college english classes had come so easily. :dunce: :dopey: :)

But thanks again, I wondered if any one would even read that thing, so I'm glad you got something out of it. ;)

Also, on a side note, I am really looking forward to next week's Inu Yasha.
I already know what happens in Yu yu, but Inu Yasha

So that will definately be the subject of next week's saturday anime installment.

It was definitely a nice recap for what I watched yesterday. 👍 And I think we all wish essays came to us that easily!

Indeed. 👍 And thank you.

Now, I know this will seem off topic, ... :D

The music provided by Adult Swim. 👍 👍
Two thumbs up all the way.

What made me think about this in particular was 2 different commericals.

1: the cowboy bebop (with an opening shot of the mushroom samba black chick. 👍 )
2: the inu yasha (with a final closing where hard, fast music comes to a close with the tetsaiga going into its scabard. 👍 )

The music from both commericals is totally different but both get me hyped about watching the show they advertise. :D

I liked it when there was no 'Adult Swim'..when they just played anime...and when they used to play anime movies on Saturday Mornings on the Sci Fi channel..seems like a long time ago
