I hope you guys know by now that the boy with the hat in Kodaka's flashbacks is Yozora

Duhhhhhh.

Finished The original NGE Series, finished EoE, finished the two Rebuilds. Wat do

Yosuga no Sora.

I'm gonna go through that Winter list soon and report back if I'm gonna watch anything.

VB went all out today lol!

Ayase >>> ... >>> Inori

There, I said it :trouble:

This episode really revived my hopes for this anime. It has shown some twists in the right direction.

Turns out Inori isn't just another girl that falls in love for the protagonist for no reason at all.

Less and less improbable/impossible events and character decisions are happening. Hopefully those were just to introduce the story in the first couple of episodes and the anime can stick to a more credible plot now.

Shuu is still way too used to fighting for someone who never fought before, pulling off a win like that. But if the anime only has 12 or 13 episodes as mentioned before, then I can understand why he may need a "faster than humanly possible" development in that area.

Also, very unlikely but Gay may turn out to be dead, if so, it opens up the possibility of a huge plot twist, hopefully for something more credible.

^ If you compare to most of my posts on the other thread. The 'long' post that I just did is relatively short IMHO. :boggled:

EDIT:

Dravonic -> I like girls that changes their look in a split second, just look on my drawing of Rina Hayase on my 'long' post ffrom earlier. ;)

-> Time to go to bed, Pacquiao weigh-in is later. :)👍

Finished episode 4 of Bakemonogatari. Hachikuji is sooo cuuute and Senjougahara is smokin' hot. I like the interesting camera angles being used in the show. It kind of needs them though since nothing much actually happens. At least not so far.

I was trying to emulate this style with my drawings (and still practicing). Ken Akamatsu (of A.I. Love You, Love Hina, & Negima fame) uses this style religiously. :)
One main thing you're doing differently with your drawing is that your line weight is the exact same throughout the entire drawing. I would use different line weights to make it more interesting.

yurippe___pen_drawing_by_destryker17-d3lhgvy.png

^ entirely in ballpoint pen

To make the drawing pop out a lot more, I'd use ink for the lines, because black obviusly contrasts better with the white paper than a gray graphite. So draft the stuff lightly in pencil, then go over it with a pen afterwards. The outer line that separates the positive and negative space should be relatively the thickest line, and the details should be thinner. If you're passionate enough, I'd buy a few Copic Multiliner Pens (0.05, 0.1 and 0.3) to start off. I LOVE using those to draw the eyes....

The hair strands need more variety. In your drawings, I see that each of them are generally the same size and the same thickness which makes it too uniform. I have a tendency to make this mistake as well. What I do is lay down some longer lines which will show some strands pretruding further back closer to the scalp, then the shorter lines (usually connecting them) creating the hairline, and whenever I feel like it, I'll use single strokes to illustrate random single hairs.

One more thing you can improve on: Shading. It's inconsistent. Keep the shading in one direction. Notice in the drawing above I shaded everything mainly in that one diagonal angle? It creates a uniform look and looks less like a child's drawing. (no offence)

Lastly, I'm glad you're posting your work. Please post more in the future as I like to give feedback. 👍

Just something to add. I know I'm not experienced but this comes from observations on someone I used to be with ages before I pierced the heavens and entered TGAT... You remember RayadayaG? The guy who kept drawing semi-anime-style non-anime original characters?

TVB, if you're into digital art, do all of your outlining in a program like Illustrator or something. But of course, for best results, you're gonna need a tablet, but it would just leave you broke :indiff: So yeah, pen is the way to go.

Stick with the one you have now, she really looks sexy in there, whoever that character is.

Other than that I finished TTGL.

Goodbye, Nia. You're always in my heart.

My avatar seems a little related to TTGL's final episodes...

Stick with your current one. Or get one of her in her delicious "plug suit".

I don't see why you would need to use a tablet with Illustrator as it is all paths... If anything, Sketchbook Pro, Photoshop or SAI. Unlike Illustrator, You can get more natural looking strokes using the pressure sensitivity of the tablet with the other programs.

I wasn't really sure... Photoshop just went through my mind lol.

Tried Photoshop to outline my crap sketches but they seem unnatural, I really don't know how to get the most out of a mere mouse :indiff:

Obviously it won't look natural... the best you can do with a mouse isn't by free hand; rather use paths...

For example, if you create a curved path, go to your brush and set the size which will determine the thickness of the "simulated pencil you're using", make the hardness 100%, open your brush settings palette, check off Shape Dynamics, and change the first drop box to pen pressure. You can play with the "minimum diameter" as well. Once you have that done, with the pen tool, right click on the canvas and hit stroke path, it'll ask you what tool you want to use, and obviously you il select the brush tool and make sure you check the Simulate Pressure. Hit Ok, Voila.

Here's a quick sample I whipped up:
picture.php

In the first, I didn't use simulate pressure. You can see that the ends are all rounded and don't "fade" which doesn't look good at all.
In the 2nd I simulated pressure with 0% minimum diameter. What happens is that the thickness of the brush will be at 100% (meaning at whatever you set the brush size to be) at the center of each path, and it goes smaller as it moves closer to the edge of the path, and in this case to 0% thickness.
In the 3rd I set the minimum diameter to 30%, so the smallest the line will ever go is 30% of whatever brush size I picked.

The brush size was 2px for each sample, and you can see a huge difference in varying line weights.

BTW, Dragonuv, the bg color isn't correct, and her head's chopped off. Therefore it fails to meet 3.0 standards :p

No problem.

After you checked off simulate pressure for the first time, you won't need to do the same thing in the future. In other words, any other paths you want stroked won't need to be done through right click>stroke path>OK. Instead, while the path is on-screen, switch to your brush tool and hit enter on your keyboard. You can hit enter more than once to apply multiple overlapping strokes for a harder line.

Consequentially, you can use this kind of stroking technique for erasers, dodge/burn, smudge, blur, etc.

BG color looks perfect here. Maybe you have a different forum skin?

I'm not happy about the the chopped off hair, but it's like that in the source, meaning I would have to draw the rest myself, with a mouse. Not sure it's worth the trouble :p

Yay for shortcuts, thanks bro. 👍

I just remembered that I did use paths... But I always forget to simulate pressure

Look closely... position your head to be "looking up at the screen"... see a giant box?.. I'm using GTP11... there's no other skin to use. And it's not my browser, I looked at it on Safari and it's still wrong.

You sure you're using #e5e5e5?

Can't notice it in my monitor but indeed the bg color is off a little bit. For whatever reason I can see it in your pic but not in the forum itself

Will fix it >.>

EDIT: It's e5e5e5 now. Should be fine now, though I see no change here.

It looked fine to me before he changed it. In any case I'll gladly sacrifice some colors to not use a Mac. :p But how come I can see the color difference in the picture you posted but not when it was that way here on the forum?

Off to class!

Hi-5!

That second song is what sold me on Guilty Crown. That scene was amazing.

Oh and because I don't feeling like quoting anything. Going to watch Nisemonogatari, Another, Toradora + Steining;Gate's OVA annnnd Black Rock Shootah.

@TC, please stop mentioning Code Geass in the GuilCro discussion. PLEASE.

Because that was a screenie from a mac uploaded to the web, versus viewing the web on Windows... Web colors are universal or something of that nature. If A Seaman named Walter isn't busy playing with his other seamen or touching little boys and girls, he should be able to give you a more concise explanation.
Hi-5!
Black Rock Shootah.
