No, it is a spoiler. Predicting how the ending will make you feel spoils the surprise, does it not?
You dummy.

One main thing you're doing differently with your drawing is that your line weight is the exact same throughout the entire drawing. I would use different line weights to make it more interesting.

^ entirely in ballpoint pen
To make the drawing pop out a lot more, I'd use ink for the lines, because black obviusly contrasts better with the white paper than a gray graphite. So draft the stuff lightly in pencil, then go over it with a pen afterwards. The outer line that separates the positive and negative space should be relatively the thickest line, and the details should be thinner. If you're passionate enough, I'd buy a few Copic Multiliner Pens (0.05, 0.1 and 0.3) to start off. I LOVE using those to draw the eyes....
The hair strands need more variety. In your drawings, I see that each of them are generally the same size and the same thickness which makes it too uniform. I have a tendency to make this mistake as well. What I do is lay down some longer lines which will show some strands pretruding further back closer to the scalp, then the shorter lines (usually connecting them) creating the hairline, and whenever I feel like it, I'll use single strokes to illustrate random single hairs.
One more thing you can improve on: Shading. It's inconsistent. Keep the shading in one direction. Notice in the drawing above I shaded everything mainly in that one diagonal angle? It creates a uniform look and looks less like a child's drawing. (no offence)
Lastly, I'm glad you're posting your work. Please post more in the future as I like to give feedback. 👍
Just something to add. I know I'm not experienced but this comes from observations on someone I used to be with ages before I pierced the heavens and entered TGAT... You remember RayadayaG? The guy who kept drawing semi-anime-style non-anime original characters?
TVB, if you're into digital art, do all of your outlining in a program like Illustrator or something. But of course, for best results, you're gonna need a tablet, but it would just leave you brokeSo yeah, pen is the way to go.
I don't see why you would need to use a tablet with Illustrator as it is all paths... If anything, Sketchbook Pro, Photoshop or SAI. Unlike Illustrator, You can get more natural looking strokes using the pressure sensitivity of the tablet with the other programs.
I wasn't really sure... Photoshop just went through my mind lol.
Tried Photoshop to outline my crap sketches but they seem unnatural, I really don't know how to get the most out of a mere mouse![]()
Obviously it won't look natural... the best you can do with a mouse isn't by free hand; rather use paths...
For example, if you create a curved path, go to your brush and set the size which will determine the thickness of the "simulated pencil you're using", make the hardness 100%, open your brush settings palette, check off Shape Dynamics, and change the first drop box to pen pressure. You can play with the "minimum diameter" as well. Once you have that done, with the pen tool, right click on the canvas and hit stroke path, it'll ask you what tool you want to use, and obviously you il select the brush tool and make sure you check the Simulate Pressure. Hit Ok, Voila.
Here's a quick sample I whipped up:
![]()
In the first, I didn't use simulate pressure. You can see that the ends are all rounded and don't "fade" which doesn't look good at all.
In the 2nd I simulated pressure with 0% minimum diameter. What happens is that the thickness of the brush will be at 100% (meaning at whatever you set the brush size to be) at the center of each path, and it goes smaller as it moves closer to the edge of the path, and in this case to 0% thickness.
In the 3rd I set the minimum diameter to 30%, so the smallest the line will ever go is 30% of whatever brush size I picked.
The brush size was 2px for each sample, and you can see a huge difference in varying line weights.
BTW, Dragonuv, the bg color isn't correct, and her head's chopped off. Therefore it fails to meet 3.0 standards![]()
No problem.
After you checked off simulate pressure for the first time, you won't need to do the same thing in the future. In other words, any other paths you want stroked won't need to be done through right click>stroke path>OK. Instead, while the path is on-screen, switch to your brush tool and hit enter on your keyboard. You can hit enter more than once to apply multiple overlapping strokes for a harder line.
Consequentially, you can use this kind of stroking technique for erasers, dodge/burn, smudge, blur, etc.
Thanks for the tip AOS-, should come in handy.
I knew I had to simulate pressure...
I hope VB absorbed that feedback I gave him earlier, or else I would have wasted a good 5 minutes of my time lecturing for no reason.
^ Precise storyline, excellent plot, and impact-wrenching visuals. Thats why I like Clannad very much. 👍Hmmm, Clannad...

What kind of man do you think I am!? No mechs? No cars? No guns? How can anyone watch this!?
Actually I've watched quite a bit of Ouran at one time in my life so this should be no problem at all... Don't tell anyone though. If they ask, I like NGE.

uMadson -> I wish I could operate the programs that you mentioned above. But unfortunately, I'm too busy/afraid on using it. Infact, I haven't used my CS5 and it's collecting dust.![]()
I find it significantly easier to pick up on illustration styles (manga in this case), if you spend a good amount of time just drawing other drawings, since you don't need to visualize a thing when it's right there in front of you. If you can commit to doing one drawing per day (or like 2 per week) for 1-2 months, and THEN try to make up something of you ow, you should begin to see some improvement.
Perhaps you could change your mindset to "Hey that looks cool... I want to do it too!"![]()

Aside from the boobjob she received, this has some good detail, though the hair's a little strange. (Didn't she have huge ones in the first place?)

I always had Asuka down as more of a Gears of War player. Saying that she plays MW3 gives her too little credit."Yoko-san, hostiles in the perimeter! Give me some cover fire! Dai-Gurren, this is Lagann 1, requesting immediate assistance, over"
"Gurren 1's pinned down by target and Gurren 2's busy defending the-"
"Baka, I'm pinned down too, I need assistance right now!"
"ANDRE-SAN, CONTACT AT 11 O' CLOCK!"
"CAN'T GET A SHOT, HE'S OUT OF MY LINE OF SIGH-*gets shot by missile*"
"MAN DOWN, REPEAT, WE GOT A MAN DOWN!"
I got too much of SSoHPKC MW3 lol. Would be epic if the Dai-Gurren spoke like the military.

I thought for a second that might be Keiichi Tsuchiya's ID cameo that would be featured in that video.
"Keiichi Tsuchiya?"
"A guy who would kick Vettel's arse on the touge."
"Touge?"
"It's like the Nordschleife, only with oncoming traffic and more Japanese cars."
EDIT: Just saw Madoka 1. At first I was like "too much moe", then I was like "lolwut
", now I'm like "moe is back
