Finished up Geneshaft. My previous thoughts on it pretty much apply equally to the ending. Not exactly good, but oddly it's somehow not an issue.

I'd like to say it's "> Steins;Gate", but I think my recently heightened appetite for sci-fi made me more willing to accept Geneshaft's flaws, so I might just have to settle for ">= Steins;Gate" in this case.

Now I'm rewatching Beck since I just finished reading the manga a couple weeks ago. Already 10 episodes in after starting it yesterday... it's better than I remember it being, but it's not without issues. I'm watching the english dub, and there's occasionally some awkward pauses in the dialog. The pace is also pretty damn slow... fine for manga since you can skim, but it's a good deal more frustrating in anime form. Neither of these are exactly new revelations... I noticed these issues on my first watch. The good news is that they don't seem as bad this time around.

Also, watched the first episode of Dennou Coil and plan on starting Fantastic Children and Shinsekai Yori soon too.

Shinsekai Yori's very interesting, with the main characters having PK abilities and wildlife capable of speech and civilization. I mean the show really delved into some speculative stuff concerning society but as far as I remember it won't explore much until the latter half.

I don't think so. I mean, they aren't fantastically good, but they aren't really at all that bad.
I realize that. But the thing about those productions is that they're mainly created to pander to the fanbase of the game they're based on. As a result, they can cut corners in production and have as many story cliches as they want and still make money.

Grisaia Ep4 . Still trying to figure out where the show is going. Plenty of pantsu shots.

EDIT: Whoa... Grisaia you have my attention now!

I do. Only put 3 minutes into it.

No substantial difference other than the ecchi parts being re-written I know of, but again, I've only put 3 minutes into it.

I've thought of getting it myself but $40 is a little steep.

And funny idea I've got: What if the F/SN VN was released on Steam? That'll be something even though I've read it already

$40 is not worth it. I gave Sekai $80 for the entire trilogy. Of course the translated trilogy isn't even halfway to being finished. So not knowing how long they will take, I've basically thrown $80 at somebody for nothing.

Why would you buy the game on Steam if it's the same price elsewhere and with more content?

I honestly wouldn't know where else to get it.

I thought so. As for putting down $80 that's just the investment and support. Doesn't matter how long.

Still working through Nodame Cantabile. Solid stuff, though not particularly outstanding either. The newer shows I've watched don't have this kind of charm to it anymore. Maybe I'm just longing for some older material... or I'm just attached to classical music right now.

Avatar Week ...28? Artist: ilya kuvshinov. Does some almost photorealism paintings. Come to think of it, I think one of my previous avatars were also done by ilya. Snap.

Gangsta is amazing. I can't find a single significant thing I don't like about it. It's a fresh change of pace from choking on all the teenage kids being shoved down my throat. Two best MC's ever, I tell you.

I've been watching it too, I can tell its quality but honestly I'm sorta bored by it. It's still early days so by the end it could turn into something I love. We'll wait and see I guess.

Grisaia VN huh... Ok but US$40 for that, as fun as it may be? :indiff:

Speaking of which, I finished Grisaia this morning. Overall, I have a thing for it however some continuity issues bothered me in the Amane story arc.

Mate, seriously.... Yoh yoh yoh.... You go missing for 2 weeks +, you're 3 hours away from the highway and the Japanese police didn't think to call a search party or your parentals just didn't care like nah she's one with the Earth now. I get what they were trying to achieve but come on man...

Also,
"Where did you get that gun?!"
In my mind; Good question, she just whipped it out from nowhere :odd:
"I bought it online!"
In my mind; I can forgive that

I guess I may watch the following seasons. How does the order go?

In other news, I like this fanart by Solunee , Yandere Sim. Looks like @AOS- 's drawing style

Chaps what happened to the weekly drawing exercises anyways?

I may start Plastic Memories tonight. MAY...
Gangsta has my curiosity but I'll wait until it finishes. Looks pretty sick thus far.
Any other shows worth watching this season?

Kajitsu, Meikyuu (hour long movie), Rakuen.

I loved Kajitsu, though the VN is much superior. Meikyuu was fantastic, I wasn't all that impressed with Rakuen but it was worth the watch.

they were taking some old route that receives no maintenance, under the intention of saving the group some time since it's a shorter path than taking the main road.

They had no reception to reach out to anyone, they fell very far down into a forested area. The bus landed near the side of the cliff so any lookers from up above may have a hard time spotting a bus (if there were any). There was no combustion so no smoke signals were made, the bus horn ran out of juice after one good honk.

Everyone suffered because the president didn't know what to do, but was too proud to hand off the leader role to someone else.

What I would've done was grab all the important resources and start moving along the side of the cliff wall. That is under the presumption the road they took at some point was sitting at a lower elevation. Eventually we'd be able to reach this road again.

When you get to Rakuen you'll also see that it explains what happened after Aname left Kazuki, and it'll definitely surprise you.

I was up to my armpits in work last week and could not whip up anything. It might be the same this week, but I haven't forgotten.

Also this week we celebrate Crystal ended, and hope with all our hearts more of it doesn't come, altough we fully know it's coming because one season isn't enough for Takeuchi to buy that island she wants.

#wishfulthinking :p

Yeah, you are right about one thing; Crystal won't end until they cover all existing arcs of Sailor Moon, so whether you love it or not, it's here to stay for a long while. Hopefully, Toei should get their s:censored: sorted before the end, and make Crystal into a decent show. And before you go all "Yeah, right" on me, I said "Hopefully". Also, I do know that I'm perfoming some #wishfulthinking myself by saying that...

Dude, the ending was impossibly lame. My wife was laughing shaking her head, I was just laughing at it. This thing should never have happened.

I haven't seen it (and I'm not really sure if I want to), so I can't comment on the lameness of the whole thing. To be honest, Toei blew their chances of making a good first impression by doing Crystal the way they did. The laughably terrible animation, the weird story choices, they just did it all wrong. And that's the sort of fears I have regarding Dragon Ball Super as well, because of what happened to Crystal. Why did Toei create a new Sailor Moon series like this, other than dat profit? Who knows...

No one really needs other reason. Just don't expect people to be happy if you go to the toilet and come out with a show. Specially if you dessecrate something as revered as this.

Quite, I can't put it in better words than yours. They could've (and should've) done so much better it's not even funny. You know, put in proper effort therefore proving you are somewhat caring about what you're doing and not about how much will your wallet gain from cashing in a badly-done remake of a highly-revered franchise? But I guess Toei simply wanted to get the show out rather than actually going through the "effort" part. A pity, really.

Remakes of shows can work when done properly (see: Hunter X Hunter's 2012 remake), but in this case Crystal isn't done properly. And I don't know if it ever will...
