I've started watching The Melancholy Of Haruhi Suzumiya... I must say I'm enjoying it. 👍

Hasn't been long since my last update but I thought I would let you guys know I've begun Full Metal Panic.
FMP seems good. 👍
I enjoy the story, characters, and mech designs. My only complaint about the story would be the character design for one of the main villians. His appearance seems like it was thrown together based on typical anime cliches (small eyes, facial hair, etc). It's not bad enough to ruin the series or anything but the character definitely seems out of place compared to the others characters in the series.

With all that said...
I'm on episode 16 (or something like that) and I'm really enjoying it. 👍 👍
I suggest anyone who hasn't seen FMP give it a try if you're looking for a fun, comedic, mech action series. :D

Macross Plus is on again this Monday on Sci Fi.

If you're a Comcast subscriber, Akira is in the free HD movies section of On Demand. Nothin' special though, it's just up converted.

Just watched Shippuden 61 yesterday as well as Bleach's new one (I guess it's 171 or 172?).
Things seem to be keeping the same tone for both series. Bleach doesn't seem to be making any real progress although this episode was more about the new captain in soul society than anything else. Naruto seemed like it was going to be awesome. There was a huge confrontation and I thought we might see Naruto and Sora fight against the current enemies. Unfortunately, that didn't happen and the fight never got off the ground... Now Sora is heading back to Konoha with the others and I believe he'll be the team's new member since Sai is injured.

All in all each one is worth watching but I'm seriously concerned that Bleach may fall off while Naruto keeps going strong. We'll just have to be patient but in the mean time I'm going to be looking forward to new Naruto episodes more than new Bleach episodes.

With all that out of the way...
I've watched Full Metal Panic up to episode 23. One left and it's going to be a mech battle (as it should be). Once the series is finished I'll leave some more concrete thoughts but for the time being I'd say it has been a great series with little to complain about. 👍

tired of watching outdated gundam? think eureka 7 sucks(like me)?

then i highly advise you start watching code geass season 1

I gave Code Geass a try when Adult Swim used it to act like they weren't entirely against anime. I wasn't too impressed but I didn't think it was bad. 👍 I watch when I have the time. Just the same though, I much prefer Full Metal Panic (as I watched that for the first time right after seeing code geass for the first time).

That said, anyone keeping up with Bleach and Naruto?
If any of you keep up with the Naruto Manga then I'm sure you're just as shocked as me (that's for PM though, not discussion here as it would ruin way too much of the story for way too many people).

The new Bleach came out on time and was interesting enough although I still don't see the current arc being as good as previous stuff (though I'm happy to be proven wrong on this issue).

Naruto didn't get a release this week, next week will be a double. :indiff:
Should be good and now that I know what's coming I'm looking forward to a great series.

On the subject of Manga v. Anime...
After reading up on Berserk, Bleach, and Naruto, I've got to say that the Bleach Manga suprised me the most... Not because it was good when I didn't expect it to be, but because the anime was so awesome compared to the same parts of the story in the Manga.
When Ichigo goes Bankai it is amazing in the Anime (the fights just before and after), but in the Manga it really wasn't all that great. :indiff:
Anyone else feel the same way?
Not saying the Bleach Manga is bad, I'm just saying the action of the Anime is awesome by comparison.
On the contrary, I loved the art style that comes out in the Naruto Manga. As for Berserk, I just loved getting to go further into the story (as the anime simply wasn't enough).

Btw, if you don't know Berserk, be warned, it is very adult and not for anyone under 18. Seriously, 18+ only.
Think something along the lines of "Fist of the north star" combined with "Bastard" combined with a trip to hell, set in europe during the middle-ages. It can be really good and really bad at the same time.

i never really got into blood+. dont know why

with my casual adult swim viewing, ive managed to see every dubbed episode fullmetal alchemist a while back

Nissan Tuner, remove that YT vid as it contains MAJOR spoilers for those who haven't watched it all. R2 isn't as good as the first season though, it seems to lack the pacing and drive that hooked me. Nevertheless it's still pretty watch able, the story's beginning to pick up again which is nice.

I've finished Ergo Proxy, slow start but it gets a lot better in the last 3rd. Lots of Evangelion-like psychoanalysis moments too, the ending wasn't as good as I expected (let's just say I expected to feel like crap after watching it, like Grave of the Fireflies).

I'm currently watching Baccano! it seems to be good so far and the reception it's had is very positive.

You sure about that definition? Because it could be that Anime style is big eyed, big expressions, big hair and big headlights.Because I believe that Anime style is more humanly expressed and more creative than the Westerner style of drawing. If you do look at it, State side drawing is majority focused on Heros, Villians and the Damsel in distressed. ( I may be wrong ) But sometimes it includes alot of drama.

Both styles are expressed well, look at those old Disney films and tell me that anime is a superior style. The Western style of animation and artwork is different as artists have been exposed to a much broader spectrum of styles and cultures than Japanese artists, though plots in manga seem to be more varied and different than their Western counterparts.

Jeopardy had an anime category today.

Indeed, I caught that too. I also tore it apart. Felt good about it considering it was a double jeopardy round. Only thing that bothered me about it was that "Transformers" was considered an anime.
Made me think about "what is anime" and eventually I came to the conclusion that simply being a Japanese cartoon does not constitute anime. There is more to being anime than that alone. :D

Twinturbojay94... I completely agree about AdultSwim. 👎

About the Malaysian DBZ... Yes it's real, real bad. :ouch:

On another note...
I'll be back around later today.
There are two new episodes of Shippuden out now and I'm sure there's a new Bleach to go with it all. 👍
Back later when I've had a chance to check out those, until then,

does anyone still watch ani-mondays on Sci-fi? What shows are on now?

I just saw Spirited Away last night, which got me wondering, why I didn't see this earlier? I can see why it won the academy!

ps Kent, you got me confused with the other Twinturbos guy....lol

I need to watch Spirited Away. I watched a bit of it one time when it was on, I want to say, Turner Classic Movies. I stopped watching it because I was not really sure what was going on and did not want to spoil it if I were to watch it at a later time.

wow....those parodies don't ever stop!

I remember I was watching [AS] one night (metalocalypse was coming on) and they had a fan bump that interested me:

Dear Adult Swim:

Wouln't it be cool if yall had a saturday where it was retro? You know have the bumps, shows and presentation just like it was back in 2001?

this was the answer:

That's pretty cool. (then in a fast bump) We're working on it already. [AS]

So could we a "vintage" adult swim weekend?Back when it was actually worth while to watch?

Well...
I planned to reveal spoilers (using the spoiler tags) but instead I will ask...

If anyone wants to know...
What happens between Sasuke and Itachi?
What major events happened recently in the manga?
Who were Naruto's parents?
What is the prophecy?

Feel free to just PM me... I would stick all the info up here with spoiler tags but if any of you are like me, the tags would barely slow you down and in the end you might regret finding out the answers to all the questions above. :ouch:

None the less, if you want to know any of that stuff, just write me. I keep up with the Manga and the story has gone through some major events recently. :scared:

Just bumping the thread and merging my post... I thought it's been long enough to almost double post. ;)

A taste of what I was talking about last time with Naruto spoilers and whatnot... (btw, one lucky naruto fan did take the spoilers  ).

Special thanks for the image go to the unnamed but well appreciated website from which the image was grabbed and imageshack for hosting.

I haven't read the manga for a couple weeks now... but I've given completely up on the anime.

Completely.

I'm planning on sitting down and watching Beck some time in the week or two... should be interesting.

I just finished watching Spirited Away and it is an extraordinary piece of artwork. Mr. Miyazaki's work in this film is amazing. The film was an absolute adventure. Not once did I feel like I was not in the world in which the movie was set in. The artwork and animation are top notch and wonderfully executed. The story is a bunch of fun. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Did anybody see Code Geass saturday? Lets just say that I believe the rumors about it having a Ridiculous amount of cliffhangers.and it's only halfway done....

Hey, does anyone here watch Death Note already? I haven't watched a single anime in months and was thinking of starting to watch something nice again (I plainly just give up watching WM. The sub is still way behind and the next CD vol. hasn't been released either) The storyline for Death Note does look cool and is quite interesting to follow, so what do you guys think about the anime? Also, does anyone here watch the live drama version of Death Note? My friend said it was okay and thats pretty much it. :guilty:

I don't really know where to find their torrents as Animanda has removed their links from their site but apparently it is still seeded in btjunkie. Can anyone discuss with me about this through PM, I don't really want to get into trouble about this......
