What the hell!? Elementary students having phones?!

I think I picked one hell of a goood show so far... the animation is neat, the lighting at night is dim but the colours aren't dulled and the details stays sharp. The murder SFX are crisp and makes it feel like it's out of a horror film.

The eerie/mystery soundtracks are awesome! I love ambience!

Yukiteru already reminds me of Shinji...

hahaha guess who the seiyu of Yukiteru is? the same person who did Minatsu (Ichizon) and Mai (Nichijou)..

Figured out why the OVA was confusing. It's most of the first episode in 8 minutes without any explanations lol. Deus Ex Machina's voice was way cooler in the OVA though.

Right, so my review of AGE-1 is as follows:

This didn't feel like the atypical beginning to a Gundam anime, and that alone warrants attention. There's no longer the feeling of a *forced* protagonist, much like the way the Meister's were assembled (rather, hand-picked by Veda) in 00, Flit was meant to be AGE's pilot there's just no getting around it. The UE (Unknown Enemy) are a bunch of ruthless, transformable mobile suit-types that will literally kill their own to protect whatever secrets they don't want revealed. They're entirely sentient and one is apparently capable of slaughtering an entire colony city. Admittedly, I came into AGE with rather high expectations after 00, which for me was simply the best AU Gundam anime since...Turn A or Gundam X, despite the latter having been unfortunately cancelled.

All of the little niggles I had with some of the character designs didn't enter my mind one single time during the entire episode; everything is so fluid and well done that it actually feels like the characters (whom I had a "problem") are designed just as they are in any other Gundam anime, most notably, Turn A (ridiculous hair practically all around). The Genoaces are, just like their very, very distant (there's actually not a bit of relation between the two, I'm merely referring to their purpose as mass-produced MS) GM brethren, completely and utterly useless and should all be smelted, except for the Custom...haven't seen that in action yet; of course why would I -- it's only the first episode.

There's plenty to spark interest even if you have the slightest interest in Gundam. One thing that has particularly caught my ear (and subsequently my interest) is this tragic event referred to as "The Day The Angel Fell."

Color me interested. Sotsu/Sunrise, you've done it again. Bastards.

some of you may have noticed that I haven't posted a daily song for three days now. That's what work will do to you. But this week we be startin' a new themed week, and this week will be called Penril Week.

Penril is my brother. No he isn't registered here, but he liked what I was doing when I told him I posted a daily song and said he wanted to help, so I said let's make yer week and he chose the next seven songs as this week's music. So thank him for all the stuff you're gonna hear.

We start this week with Voyage, the opening for Fantastic Children, a show he keeps telling me to watch. This is what he has to say about the song:

So, I know this isn't the "recommend us some anime to watch" thread, but I don't give two ****! C: I chose this song mostly because I really loved this series when I first watched it, and the song's not only very beautiful, but it also brings back a lot of very fond memories of the show.

Overall, I find it to be really inspiring. As the song builds up and the orchestration gets heavier, you really get the feeling of the titular voyage. Sadly, I have no idea what the song is about ):, I haven't been able to find a translated version of this, but the fact that I like it so much just goes to reaffirm that the song itself is a great composition worth hearing. Not only that, but the opening to a great series worth watching. Hope you enjoy it! (And don't forget to tell my brother he's a douchebag <: ).
