To tell you the truth it's actually good to hear the story has a new character, at least now I'm intrigued and want to watch the movie. The only reason why I didn't until now was because 1.0 was pretty much just a recap, so I though 2.0 would be too.

The original series was already great. It's just that it took a weird turn at the end. I guess Hideaki Anno felt the same way and is now trying to "fix" it. Well, if it turns out better than the original then all the better.

Eva was really good. But it failed hard with the last two episodes. Rebuild is Eva again, except how it should be seen. I wouldn't watch Eva again simply for those hardcore slow, drawn out moments. Shinji waking up and seeing a ceiling he hates for example(that happened too frequently).

I can list more things I didn't like about Eva.. but that would be pointless since it's still a fantastic series
