So I finished Sankarea and I'm positively surprised the protagonist isn't a complete wimp. 👍 Really hate people like Danichirou.

Then I started watching Macross Frontier. I'm up to episode 5 right now and it's been quite enjoyable so far. No dislikable characters so far. :D

So I watched Dai-shogun. I have now found quite possibly the worst-animated "anime" (Can you even call it that?) that isn't a short, and is a full-length show.

The entire episode has like less than 2 minutes worth of anime, and the OP takes up most of it.

That tweet I posted earlier is what THE ENTIRE episode is like. (Also the characters and story are complete 🤬 too, but the very severe lack of animation is more noteworth.)

This "show" is a complete insult to animation as a whole. I'm amazed something like this even exists. Avoid this at all costs.

There's anime that uses smart tricks during scenes that are light on action but ramps up the effort for those moments that require it, and then there's anime that uses those tricks almost non-stop. Dai-Shogun appears to be the latter, though it's certainly far from alone in that category.

I highly doubt it's using tricks. Seriously, I have never come across something with this little of animation. This "show" is going to become quite possibly Musashi Gundoh famous for having this little of animation. A single episode of Tonari no Seki-kun contains far more animation than the first episode of this, and that's a freaking short.

I'd really like to know what's going on here, especially also with them constantly shaking the camera a little in like almost every single scene (Which was highly irritating). Did the production committee give them a ridiculously small animation budget or something?

I know there are series that are good art throughout the entire series for every episode and every minute but I admit there are many that aren't always on point... This is part of the reason I really don't watch anime any more and tend to read manga.

Spoiler:

Primary example.

This isn't even about art (The art is rather meh for this show), this is about animation, actual movement. The amount of animation this show is ridiculously low, it's in a league of its own. For a full 24 minute episode to contain like less than 2 minutes worth of animation (With most of it being in the OP) is completely astonishing.

Not even something like Mars of Destruction holds a candle to that.

By trick, I meant shortcut. And using minimal real animation is a shortcut.

And yes, budget would most likely be the culprit. Either that, or a highly inept animation team.

So I finally watched From Up On Poppy Hill and I'm rather disappointed by this one. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the animation seemed a bit more rough and not as fluid as other Ghibli works much of the time. I mean when you think of Ghibli, you think of very fluid animation much of the time.

Also the pacing was a bit too fast, and there was just something off about the movie the entire time which I can't quite put my finger on it. The ending came a bit too fast too, the conclusion to the whole thing was a bit rushed.

I did like the characters, and found the character development rather good, but it's definitely nowhere near as good as previous Ghibli works I've seen.

Almost a good movie (That 6/10 is quite close to a 7/10), but far from bad. Maybe if I rewatch it sometime in the near future I might think better of it the second time around?

I know I've seen that one before. :)

So if you guys need something decent to watch, No Game No Life is one.

Besides me, who else is looking forward to watch this movie?

Knights of Sidonia's first ep disappointed me, I didn't like the main character at all.
Also,my only reason to continue watching Black Bullet is:

And don't forget! Tomorrow Date a Live returns.:sly:

Did Walter forget to pay for the ARM server again?
