I know so many Kirino-types (as in Oreimo) at my school. Without the eroge and imouto obsessions, but still, they advertise quite a lot of anime to me on the basis that "it has boobs in it", to which I respond by questioning whether or not that's the reason why they like it.

Anyway, what anime has shown me is that I'm obsessed with romance. Well, it's not just that, but I listen to (and write) lovey-dovey dance-pop, read romantic fanfics and just generally... am completely different from how I was ~2 years ago, when I wouldn't touch the romance genre, even if you paid me to - let alone think about non-romantic fiction and franchises in a romantic context.

I have more OTPs than a Tumblr-obsessed mid-teen schoolgirl nerd with a passion for homos. Seriously, anime has turned me into a huge romantic.
 
Same here, Mari/Asuka is my OTP. I initially adopted that stance on EvaGeeks for the craic, and then it became more serious.
 
Well I have watched my way through all the badass anime I can find, so sadly my descent into kawaii desu desu is beginning.

That and I have Game of Thrones if I want some dramatic dismemberments and other such masculine pursuits.

But you said you haven't watched Madoka Magica yet, and that's the most badass thing ever. And then there's Neon Genesis Evangelion, which is incredibly badass for about 5 minutes in the End of Evangelion during the scene where Asuka is fighting the MP Evas. Also, Episode 6, particularly in rebuild form.

But in all seriousness. Madoka is actually really badass.

Can't really help you there. Because of my autism, I have an obsession for bright, glowing colours and happy, upbeat cuteness. Not necessarily badass, sadly.

However, my recommendation list of "anime for complete autists" is large, and still growing. Start with Hyperdimension Neptunia: The Animation, and we'll see:

This show is so bad. :lol: But I simply fell in love with the concept.....
 
So, here's a question, what was your first proper animu that you got into? I fell in love with Studio Ghibli many years ago, but didn't really watch much else until the past couple of years or so. I remember watching Axis Powers Hetallia at some point, but the first thing I really fell in love with was Azumanga Daioh, which I wound up watching and reading after noticing that several of my favourite authors (Jeph Jacques and Bryan Lee O'Malley spring to mind) recommended it.

Then at some point I watched Neon Genesis Evangelion, wound up getting quite literally addicted to it,, and the rest is history. (And I don't just mean addicted as in "I really liked it", I mean "I started feeling agitated when I had to stop watching it to sleep or eat" addicted.)

Really, what I meant was, what was the show that started your love of anime as a whole.
 
Gundam, it had the basic of things that most American shows didn't have. Small sorties of comedy, drama, action and lack of fillers. The designs were unique.

Altough I watched a lot of the older anime that aired on TV when I was a brat, the concept of "anime" in those days simply didn't exist. The first show I watched fully knowing it was japanese was Robotech (oh the irony) but again, the anime concept as we know it today, all the culture that permetaes it, was AWOL.

The show that made me fall in love with anime -understanding the concept of anime as we do now- was Magic Knight Rayearth. It was like nothing I had ever seen, as it wasn't too kiddie-oriented, had me increidbly depressed with the first season's ending, and of course, the now-famous Fuu crush happened. That was the show that opened my eyes and made me want more of the same, and it's why I personally have it in such high regard, it's probably the most important anime of my life, as it really changed me.
 
Evangelion, for me. That didn't really "get me into anime" in the way I am now, though; it was more a one-off, at the time. The vastly underrated Hyperdimension Neptunia: The Animation got me into anime in a big way, and I still think it's as rad now as it was last summer. So... an odd blend of moe and series stuff, which holds true to my tastes today.

If you mean like a "gateway" anime, mines was Naruto. I started watching it when I was around 6 or 7. Sadly I dropped it because I suddenly lost interest in it. I don't even remember where I left off. Funny enough... I think it was Clannad that really got me into anime / manga. After finishing After Story it I watched a little of whatever interests me. And now I pile a whole bunch of shows in the current season and past shows in my "To Watch" list.

Pokemon would have been my gateway since I started watching it before Naruto but in all honesty, I didn't even think it was anime when I was younger.

Kudos on being the completionist. :p I myself am not that patient, I can't 600+ episodes of Bleach nonsense. :crazy:

I love a bit of love as well. But usually tied into something else.
My OTP is a bit blurred because my genuine favourite pairing is one character with herself. (she can make a double of herself)

That'd be NGE.
I hadn't watched much of anime before - the only one I'd worked through extensively was Captain Tsubasa, and my main interest there is in the videogames.
NGE kickstarted a roll of anime I ended up watching though. And there was plenty I felt for rather extensively in that.
Of course my interest in it has been rather dwarfed by other things since then.

Would have been nice also for people to remember those like a month ago when posting that Homura figure.
Though not too long after I stated seeing that thing everywhere...

So after managing to not being spoiled on Rebellion, I managed to get spoiled on a form of Homura in that movie. (Not surprised something happens to her, but still irritated at being spoiled) It hasn't even been a year yet since that movie came out...
