You know what you could do? You could show her this page with her picture on the internet and explain to her that you're talking about her online with a bunch of random people. Then explain to her that even though you've never dated and you barely know anything about her, that you're in love with her.

dude, you are in the middle of a catch-22. If you like her, you should ask her out, but since she is involved, you should leave her alone.
A few questions.....

When you hang out, does it seem likes she treats you like a brother?
When you chat on the computer, is it just you and her or a bunch of people in a chat room?

As a general rule, you shouldn't make a move until she is out of her relationship. It couldn't hurt to ask what she thinks of you so you would know if it would be worth your time making that move.

as for the present...by all means, go with something you made...

a little women math:

the thought + the time + the effort = major bonus points > anything someone could buy at the store no matter how nice

Getting it from her to fix would be good but it would not have to same cache' of making a new one for her. Eventhough it wouldn't be same same as the original, a handwritten note explaining the significance of the new one would be a great gesture.

The new one could represent a new chapter in her life while at the same time paying homage to someone she holds dear to her from her past. Maybe you could get the old one and incorporate it into a new one.

One thing I found out recently is don't wait too long, I did that this year with a girl I really liked, and would of loved to out with, but I get nervous and jittery and start to stutter when I even think about saying the words. But as a result of waiting to long I fell into the "Friend Zone" or whatever you want to call it, but now I'm considered the "Really good Friend". Which is better than nothing but it's NOT where you wanna be if you're serious about something like this.

but yeah, definitley DON'T wait, my brother did, and he hasn't dated since he was 14...hes 21 now, just got back from his LDS mission...
anyways, perhaps design a new temp guage, and have the 4 seasons or soemthign... good luck :D

yeah the way im around her, that hasnt got me anywhere, plus the real side of me is really sweet and out going, so i guess ill find out.

My cousin made a rose in welding class at school. Its kinda like a sheet of metal wrapped in a roll, but a little tapered at one end, welded to a stick. Then he heated it and bent the pieces of metal in the loop outwards to make petals. Its hard to explain but looks really cool.
