To me it looks like a checkered flag

And it has curves like a racetrack.

I wonder if I can get a very clean black and white GT logo for my iPhone background.

There's a hidden cat in the GT logo:

Hahahaah

As a graphic designer I have to say I think the logo is excellent. It looks like a race track logo and a car emblem while also simply being a G and a T to represent the series name "Gran Turismo" obviously lol. Even the original logo being red and blue to give it that extra racing team appearance was clever. On my wheel it is in silver and looks exactly like a logo you would find on a real cars steering wheel. Good job PD (or whichever design studio that actual made it)

I'm just glad they didn't incorperate a number into it.

Otherwise they could have ended up like the Forza 4 logo, which actually says Forza III 4 lol.

It actually just says "Forza Motorsport 4" beneath an "FM" logo. Sure, the stylized "M" also served as a Roman numeral "III" for FM3, but at the same time as the "M". Now it's just simply the "M". It may remain like that from here on out, as that logo is the best-looking that they've yet had for the franchise. I don't recall any interesting "FM" logo for FM2, and they sort of had one for the original but it was a really lame "FM" logo.

They really needed a good "FM" logo that's stylized and recognizable like the GT logo, and now they have one.

This is exactly what I was going to say. The curve of the G is a from a race track and the T is supposed to resemble a checkered flag. The metal color scheme is like that of a car's surface. The opposing blue and red color symbolizes competition. /thread.

Is this true? If so, i didn't recognize it, and that means the logo is a really good design.

sorry if this has been asked before but is there a hidden image or meaning to the GT logo? every time i look at it it seems to me that there is more than meets the eye. there is almost a lower case d in there but i dont know.
I know this isn't the interesting response, but I think it's a type font, and perhaps you need sleep.

I'm pretty sure there were GT games on consoles besides the PS3. :p

Sorry for being redundant... I meant im just glad the gran turismo franchise has been exclusively sold to the playstation series

I'm more intrigued by the choice of colors. Why blue and red? Could've been brown and orange you know :D

To me, red and blue are the ultimate versus colours. Like Liverpool vs Everton.
Also, the Mercedes SLS's in the GT5 advert on the Playstation website are red and blue.

Maybe it could shed a light to the matter:
In repsonse to requests for generalized color symbolism, here is a brief list with credit to Jasc Software/PSP Newsletter Yellow - In the Far East, a sacred colo but it the West it can mean treachery. Red - Passion; gets the blood flowing more intensely. Orange - Represents knowledge and civilization. Violet - Stately and roya Blue - Cool, passive, and also symboli fidelity (as in true blue) Green - Restful and fresh White - Purity and truth Black - Gloom, sorrow and depresssion.
I found it randomly... Can not quote the site.

It's remained virtually unchanged, too.

It did change a bit in the North American version of GT2:

The "G" was offset higher and was slightly behind the "T"

GT3 and later all reverted back exclusively to the original logo, and I think even the PAL and JP versions of GT2 used the original as well.

 Disgusting!

👍

It may even be the Deep Forest monkey!

Oh my god you have seen the monkey too. When I saw it in photo shoot I thought I had to go to the optician.

On topic, I like the GT logo. It looks classy and captures the essence of racing.
