    THIS FORTNIGHT'S THEME

This week, we will pay a tribute to the seventies. Last winner @GTRacer22 set this theme, here are the details :

« The late 1970s saw some of the craziest silhouette racers come to fruition in the Group 5 category. From the famous Porsche 935 to the loud and rumbling Greenwood Corvette, these racers tore up racetracks around the globe with their meaty rear tires and over exaggerated bodywork. Something about these cars just makes me fall in love... they're loud and obnoxious, and they light up the tires in 3rd gear - I could go on forever!

Your task this week is to take this classic and unforgettable time period in motorsports and bring it into the 21st Century through the means of modern race machinery. »

    CARS :
    - Any race car built after 1999.
    - For Gr.3 cars without actual years, just use the year of the model the car is based on.

    LIVERIES :
    - Original or replicas.

    UNIQUE RESTRICTIONS :
    - If you create an original livery, try to stay as close to the style of the 70s Group 5 machines as possible - nothing too modern.
    - In all cases, try to use 70s period correct decals.
    - Sport Mode compatible is not mandatory.

    BONUS PICTURE SETTINGS :
    - Up to Two Bonus Pictures allowed.

    USER MADE DECALS :
    - No restrictions.

    GENERAL COMPETITION RULES

    ENTRY SUBMISSION

    - The only way you can take part is to be a member of the GTPlanet forums. If you haven't created your account yet, click here
    - Mark your FINAL ENTRY clearly, with red text.
    - Unsure how to? Copy and paste the following:
    Code:
    [COLOR=red][B]FINAL ENTRY[/B][/COLOR]
    - One entry per user. It must be your own work, and never previously used in a competition.
    - You may change your entry once. Do it clearly; edit out your previous entry, and either post the new one in a new reply, or in place of the original.
    - Do not post "Honourable Mentions" or outtakes - just your Final Entry, that's all.
    - Absolutely no entries which utilize edited/hacked file saves.

    - Winner gets to choose the following Fortnight's theme.
    - Winners cannot enter in their own theme!
    - The Host may ask for the original image/livery and it must be submitted if so.
    - It's recommended to share the original livery online (in-game) to prove it’s your work.
    - Winner, second and third places will have to share the links of the liveries for the Hall of Fame thread

    ENTRY PRESENTATION

    - All images shall have preview images which may not exceed 640 pixels in either direction (main and bonus pictures)
    - You have to post two main pictures of your entry using the mandatory locations and settings as shown below
    - You are allowed to post two bonus pictures in a spoiler with free location and settings (unless the unique restrictions of the week’s theme specify something else)
    - You have to make one post with ONLY the 4 pictures and the FINAL ENTRY mark. If you want to add precisions/background story/links, you are allowed to double-post under your entry. The best way to do it will be to "reply" to your own post.

    - It is recommended you host your image either here on GTPlanet (via the Media section), or on Flickr
    - Not sure how to submit your image? Here's a guide for both methods mentioned above.
    - A preview image must be representative of the full-size image. Do not add effects to it.
    - Please use a clickable-preview to full-size, not a separate text link for it; it makes poll creation much easier!
    - No heavy post-game editing, slight enhancing is allowed.

    MANDATORY PICTURES

    - You have to post a front quarter view and a rear quarter view of your car.
    - You can choose between the Shiretoko 03 location or the White Sands 01/09 locations. No other location will be allowed for the main pics.

If it's your first entry or if you struggle with the picture settings, have a look at the tutorials below :

YES. Love this theme, I was running with Group 5 a few LEC's back so I'm stoked to see Gr5 as a primary theme! Is there any restriction on crossing over the livery from one manufacturer to another? eg; Nissan to Ford?

Awesome! I just hope no one goes and does the livery I have in mind  even if they do it'll probably be a different car

As Group 5 racing stopped in 1982, can we enter Group 5 cars that were run in the 1980/82 era too?

Interesting theme! I wasn't too keen on older motorsport like this (only really knew about group B, C, and F1 :D), but while I was looking for ideas I felt like every car was "special" in its own way.

Very excited to see what you guys come up with, as always!

Good question. There are also some 1st gen cars in the sixties, too. And prototypes which also were under the Group 5 rules. How do you think about them @GTRacer22 and @Cytoria ?

Love this era of group 5 registrations as the cars just look so awesome with all the aero bodywork and wide arches! Would be great to get them properly in GT7.

I can't resist man, I love Porsches and since I have spent years and years complaining that they weren't available on GT games, might as well use them. On doubt, I'll go Porsche, just look at my gallery.

And this theme is inviting for some 911 RSRs, at least in my case: I don't know a lot of Group 5 cars and the ones I do are Porsches .

Same with me  I have around 40+ liveries for the RSR alone and most of them are K2/K3 designs

At times like this I wish we could "claim" a livery to recreate so that nobody else gets there first (or does a better job after)
Like OnlyOne07 I didn't know much at all about this category and found a great-looking car when researching. I have no idea how well-known it is.

@GTRacer22 what would be a "too modern" livery?

In my mind what I want to see for original liveries this week is a bunch of really nice, simple schemes - nothing over the top and with angular lines or full wraps, stuff like that. Of course, it is up to the creator’s imagination after all, so do whatever you see fit!

I based my entry on this Zakspeed Capri. I was originally going to use the Mustang, but thought it suited the GT better.

@Racerx_34 Hope you forget that Audi contest as soon as possible, it would be a pitty not to see your designs!
